Trump Fires Off Unexpected Whine At The Worst Possible Time

President Donald Trump took his eyes off the unfolding crisis in Minneapolis on Sunday to complain about another issue entirely: football.

One day after federal agents shot and killed 37-year-old ICE nurse Alex Pretti while he was filming them, Trump griped that the NFL’s new kickoff rule was not “strong, glamorous and exciting” enough for him.

“I can’t watch the new NFL Kickoff,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Like many others, I just turn my head.”

The NFL altered kickoffs in 2024 to generate more returns and reduce the risk of injury from high-speed collisions. But not all fans were happy about it ― and that includes the president, who has repeatedly complained about it.

“Who has the right to make such a change?” Trump asked on Sunday. “So disparaging to the game!”

“The original was Big Time, Strong, Glamorous, and Exciting. The ridiculous new Kickoff Rule takes away the prestige and power of the game. I hope College Football doesn’t follow suit!”

Trump is a football fan who has attended games as president, including last year’s Super Bowl. However, over the weekend, he said he doesn’t plan to attend this year’s Super Bowl ― to be held on February 8 at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California – because “it’s just too far away.”

On social media, critics were not thrilled with Trump for taking his eyes off the ball and griping about football instead of focusing on restoring calm to Minneapolis. They fired back on X:

He “can’t watch” a safer kickoff… so he turns his head.

That’s the whole Trump doctrine in one sentence:
If reality changes, blame someone. If people get hurt, look away.

He whines about rules in a game —
but cheers rules that ruin real lives.

He doesn’t want “prestige”…

The NFL has the right, dumbass!

The new “Dynamic Kickoff” is aimed at ENHANCING PLAYER SAFETY BY REDUCING HIGH-SPEED COLLISIONS. Both teams are required to remain stationary until the ball is caught or hits the ground.

*That* is what this spoiled brat keeps whining about! https://t.co/VtKpTOck99

At times like this, good to see POTUS focused on what really matters.
