Newsboy’s horseracing tips for Tuesday’s three meetings, including Chepstow Nap

GRENADIER JED (2.02, Nap) is expected to relish the battle against 11 rivals and land the Albert Bartlett Triple Crown Series Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow on Tuesday. The Robert Walford-trained six-year-old has won three hurdle races at around today’s distance of 2m3f, at Taunton (twice) and Fontwell, before falling at Plumpton 57 days ago.

Then, the son of Frontiersman blundered at the 7th when the 9-4 favourite and in touch with the leaders. Previously to that, my selection readily won at Fontwell, finishing three and a half lengths ahead of Keep Running and seven lengths in front of the third, Brave Knight. Both of those horses subsequently franked the form by both winning their next races — Keep Running at Sandown and Brave Knight at Taunton. Grenadier Jed could still be ahead of the handicapper and should be thereabouts under regular rider Harry Kimber on Tuesday.

At Newcastle, the in-form PITWOOD ROAD (3.00, nb) can overcome top weight to take the Mini Golf at High Gosforth Park Mares’ Handicap Hurdle. Last time out the eight-year-old, trained by Nicky Richards, stayed on well to win a handicap hurdle at Carlisle, holding off Always A Reason who went on to score at Newcastle earlier this month. The extra furlong of Tuesday’s race should suit even more in the hands of Danny McMenamin.
