BBC bosses share big update on Race Across the World’s sixth series ahead of its return next year
BBC bosses have shared a huge update on the sixth series of Race Across the World.
The makers of the hit series confirmed exactly when they will film the next instalment of the BAFTA winning show.
Producers of Race Across The World have started casting for the next series of the show.
They gave a detailed description of exactly what they are looking for from prospective duos.
The BBC started up a new dedicated website so potential pairings can apply to take part on the hit programme.
A statement on the page read: “The world is vast, and it’s waiting to be explored…Race Across the World, BBC One’s BAFTA winning hit series, is back and searching for intrepid duos, of all ages, ready to take a step into the unknown and embark on an epic race across land and sea.
“On a limited budget and away from the luxuries of modern technology and conveniences, those selected will experience life in some of the world’s most beautiful and remote locations.
“Navigating their way across thousands of miles, they will travel through spectacular scenery and dynamic cities, visit ancient wonders, learn local customs, and take part in time-honoured tradition.
“But the physical journey is only half of the story, as they take on the challenge of travelling across the world, perhaps the greatest thing they’ll discover is about themselves and one another.”
The company has revealed that they are now accepting applications.
It is also keen to hear from people who have a personal story to tell or a strong need for the jackpot prize money.
The site continued: “This experience is open to all, whether you’re a seasoned traveller or total novice.
“We want to hear what undertaking a trip like this would mean to you, and with a cash prize at stake, to what lengths you would go to win.”
“Maybe you’re looking to change something in your life? Or are keen to share the journey with someone special like a family member, best friend, or someone you’ve lost touch with.
“You may even have a very personal reason for wanting to travel at this time in your life or want to explore a particular part of the world.”
In order to take part in the show, potential pairings have to be 18-years-old or over and legally reside in the UK.
The production company has also confirmed that filming is due to take place over an eight week period from September until November 2025.
Race Across The World – Winners so far
Since launching in 2019, BBC travel competition series Race Across The World has had four series to date. Let’s take a look at back at the winners so far…

Wheel of Fortune contestant goes viral with hilariously wrong ‘sausage’ answer
A Wheel of Fortune contestant has gone viral after giving a wildly incorrect answer that saw him get teased by the hosts.
Considering how much pressure it can be appearing on a game show, there have been many times over the years where people have been left red-faced with their delivery of wrong answers, including the time British actor Amanda Henderson thought Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg was called Sharon.
A new hilariously wrong answer has rolled in – this time onWheel of Fortune.
While the classic show is set to be rebooted in the UK in 2025, with Graham Norton hosting, it remains appointment viewing for many in the US, where it is presented by Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White.
In the latest episode, which aired on Monday (11 November), policeman Will Jordan from Wethersfield, Connecticut was introduced as a player alongside a fellow contestant called Kitina.
Will had a very strong start to his round that saw him tasked with guessing a popular six-word phrase and, after discovering more and more letters, the board read: “_ _ _E _OURSEL_F A ROUN_ OF _A___AUSE.”
He decided to have a go at solving but, instead of saying the correct answer, “Give yourself a round of applause,” he went ahead and bizarrely exclaimed: “Treat yourself a round of sausage.”
When Kitina swooped in to say the correct answer, Seacrest couldn’t help but tease Will over the error, which appeared to stun the audience into silence.
“Will, I kind of liked yours better,” he said. “That sounds better than just clapping right now.”
Will ended in third place, winning $8,000, and after the show, he broke down his blunder with the show’s special correspondent, Maggie Sajak.
He told Sajak, who is the daughter of Ex-Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak, that he “blanked”, adding:

“Yeah, I’ll tell you, when the lights are on and you know the stars, Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White, it’s… I just went blank.”
He said he knew he would get teased by his friends and colleagues back home, stating: “I’m sure I’m gonna have sausages in my locker and police car when I get back, so we’ll try to have some fun with it.”
However, Will admitted it would all have been worth it if Maggie’s father was entertained by the incorrect answer.
“If your dad, in retirement, is watching the show, maybe cracks a beer and has a laugh, it’ll be worth it,” he said.

Strictly pro slams Shirley Ballas’ decision to send Shayne Ward home as he reveals Wynne Evans made major error
STRICYLY Come Dancing legend Brendan Cole has blasted head judge Shirley Ballas’ decision to save Wynne Evans over Shayne Ward on Sunday night.
In his view, the Coronation Street actor‘s exit was undeserved.
Brendan told The Sun that Wynne’s noticeable missteps were also overlooked, especially with the Blackpool show approaching where only the most refined dancers get to shine.
He pointed to a major error he believes should have factored into the head judge’s decision, saying Wynne’s dance wasn’t as polished as she suggested.
Brendan tore into Shirley’s reasoning for saving the opera singer, after viewers called it a fix.
He said: “Shirley saying Wynne Evans’ number was a bubblier performance — well of course it was. That goes with the dance.
“The dances were fairly close, but the only thing that stood out is that Wynne went off time a lot.
“That is supposed to be the first fundamental.
“The first thing I learnt as a 7-year-old is you’ve got to be in time and on the right rhythm.”
He also spotted over-scoring from the judging panel, which includes Motsi Mabuse, Anton DuBeke and Craig Revel Horwood.
Recalling Motsi and Shirley’s raising their paddles for Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec’s Quickstep, he told The Sun on behalf of SkyVegas: “Two 10s was too much for that Quickstep.”
Brendan continued: “JB was overmarked — it was a really good number, but it wasn’t a 10.
“It was a very good Samba.”
Some fans agreed with Shirley’s decision and one pointed out: “Had everyone forgot he has been in the bottom 2-3 times. It was time to go.”
But former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips took to social media to complain that the judges were wrong.
Viewers were shocked when Shirley explained one couple showed more energy and then went on to pick Wynne and Katya to stay.
Arlene posted on social media and slammed Shirley and Anton Du Beke’s decision to save Wynne and Katya.
Posting a photo of Shayne and Nancy, Arlene said in a rare statement: “I disagreed with the @bbcstrictly judges last night on which couple stayed.
“Watching @shaynetward at the start of the competition I didn’t think he would get this far.
“From being a clumsy dancer last night turned into an actor and a dancer, portraying a beautiful partnership with @nancy_xuxi
“The dance felt romantic and true and I was sorry to see this couple go.”
Catherine was quick to support Arlene’s post and make her thoughts clear: “Thankyou for standing up for him!
“Like you did for me all those years ago. I know how upset he will be and your words will lift him as they did for me.”

I’m a Celebrity’s 2024 lineup is far too nice. Where are the dreadful politicians?
Britain is broken” is a phrase we hear a lot these days, probably a bit too much if we’re all being honest with ourselves (we’ve still got running water, after all), but it seems that the televisual institution that is I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is the latest to suffer from the national malaise.
The problem is that the lineup for this year’s contest on ITV looks to be far too nice and is, for that reason, a regrettable downgrade from more recent years, when at least one despised figure from public life would gamely take part in the jungle challenges. Usually, though not exclusively, this wretch was a politician in urgent need of money, rehabilitation or just missing the attention, and the producers were more than happy to oblige them.
Last year, you may recall, the odious Nigel Farage went to the outback to replenish his undernourished Coutts bank account with the £1.5m fee and to remind the voters that, in what was soon to be an election year, he was still around to inflict further damage on the economy and national cohesion.
The year before, it was Matt Hancock, the great lothario of the National Health Service; his political career in ruins. He was looking for forgiveness and, presumably, some sort of role in life (he’s still only 46). So appalled were people about the guy apparently being rewarded for failure by ITV, that an online petition to stop Hancock from appearing on the show attracted more than 40,000 signatures.
The same sense of public outrage, or at least disquiet, attached itself to various random others who transitioned from in or around the political jungle to the reality TV version – Carol Thatcher (who won in 2005); Christine Hamilton, professional and self-described battleaxe; Nadine Dorries (who should surely be given another run now to publicise her conspiracy theories); Lembit Opik, the light-hearted Lib Dem; the controversial Katie Hopkins; the silky Robert Kilroy-Silk; Stanley Johnson, who has a lot to answer for; and obscure ex-Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale. The absurd former royal butler Paul Burrell also gave people a focus for irrational anger on a winter’s evening. And that is how it should be.
But this year, it seems that ITV is no longer prepared to act as a laundromat for those who find themselves stained by their public life, with only the redoubtable newspaper columnist Jane Moore giving us much hope for getting our sensibilities bruised by “outspoken” views.
Those who populate the political and allied trades are a shrewd bunch who know full well that any of the exotic offal they’re required to consume on camera is still fit for human consumption and, in principle, no different to what they get served up at a constituency function or in the Green Room at the BBC. Being covered in creepy crawlies is a bit much, true, but it’s not for long, and think of the cash…
I’m a Celebrity had become a case of “who’s using who”, and the likes of Farage and Hancock were cynically using the telly people rather than the other way around. It was an unbearable inversion of media culture for ITV, though it sometimes made for unbeatable viewing. In due course, the renewed interest in Farage and the gilding of his “bit of a character” image helped him get into parliament. For Hancock, I’m told he became an unlikely heartthrob in sections of the Mumsnet generation. The rest of us were just reminded about how grim they were and are.
I mean, I can’t say I’m that bothered about seeing a soap star like Alan Hansall going through ritual humiliation when they do that every time a script lands on the doorstep, or N-Dubz Singer Tulisa Contostavlos opening up to presenter and DJ Melvin Odoom. Coleen Rooney is a more consequential sort of celeb I suppose, but she’d really make more sense as a contestant if rival WAG Rebekah Vardy was also there (Vardy came ninth in 2017, by the way).

It’s not as if there aren’t some spectacular prospective recruits out there. You could actually make quite a good series just by filling the camp with all the extant former leaders of the Conservative Party – Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, Boris Johnson, Theresa May, David Cameron, Michael Howard, Iain Duncan Smith, William Hague and John Major. The chat around the fire would be fascinating. Is it too much to ask that Ant and Dec might open up their contacts book and ring Prince Andrew, a man with an expensive home to keep up? Is it out of the question to ask Justin Welby, who may soon have more time on his hands? How about one of them gets parachuted in, to liven things up halfway through?
It seems that the only people ITV is rumoured to have lined up in the way of surprise late entries are Love Island favourite Maura Higgins and the Reverend Richard Coles, Vicar of Kindness. Barry McGuigan, who’ll be entering the jungle on day one, is similarly the sweetest of boxers ever to enter the ring, and I’d be surprised if dancer Oti Mabuse, DJ Dean McCullough, influencer GK Barry or McFly’s Danny Jones are going to spark demos in Trafalgar Square.
It’s wintertime, it’s panto season, we’re celebrating the birth of Christ, and we need to hate some people on the telly. There are literally hundreds of failed, unemployed ex-MPs with tarnished reputations out there worried about who’s going to pay for their next two-bottle lunch. They’re thoroughly unlikeable failures… get them into there!

Watch shocking moment MAFS UK’s Sacha lashes out at E4 bosses branding them ‘actually disgusting’
MARRIED At First Sight bride Sacha has lashed out at E4 bosses for “doing her dirty” with the edit for final vows.
Last night viewers saw Sacha break down in tears and storm off during her vow renewal to husband Ross.
The Birmingham lass said her marriage would be over if Ross didn’t move to her hometown Walsall.
But Sacha has now revealed that there was a part of the scene that has been cut – as she dropped a major spoiler.
Sharing her frustration on social media, Sacha wrote: “OMG already fuming with the edit for final vows.”
She then shared: “I can’t write here now why I was crying but it was to do with them ruining a surprise I had for Ross.
“As if they’ve done me that dirty.”
She also captioned her post: “Absolutely disgusting they’d do that to me.
Sacha insisted she’d explain what exactly happened after the episode airs tonight.
The reality star then posted an Instagram story where she vented at the producers.
She furiously added: “I am seething, I want to swear so bad. How dare they make it look like I was crying over something to do with what Ross was saying.
“No no no no no…they ruined something for me, a surprise I had for Ross right before the vows and they’ve edited to make it look like I was crying about Walsall.
“They’ve done me dirty, how false and fake and ridiculous and a complete lie that edit is.
“I didn’t think they were that bad, but they are that bad.”
Sacha and Ross faced a crossroads in their relationship last week.
When it comes to where they’ll settle together post-experiment, Ross has reservations as his daughter, Blue, is currently living in Manchester and he didn’t want to be too far away from her.
With Sacha wanting to remain closer to her family, it seems the pair have hit a roadblock in making their relationship work.
However, this came as a bit of a shock to viewers – especially when they discovered that Walsall and Manchester is only about an hour-and-a-half drive down the motorway from each other.
As a result, some are accusing them of playing up the issue, wondering why they don’t move somewhere in the middle to make things work.
They also thought they were blowing the issue way out of proportion.
Speaking on X, one fan wrote: “For a bit of context, Walsall and Manchester are a 1 hr 40 mins drive apart – I drive 1 hr 20 mins (each way) to work, twice a week. It’s really not the dealbreaker they are making it out to be!”
“Being from the North of Scotland, I thought the distances Ross and Sacha were talking about were enormous!” said another.
“Then I googled it and realised Manchester and Walsall are a 1 hr 40 min drive apart! That is absolutely nothing!”
“Get a grip, it’s literally down the road… it’s not another country Sasha!!!” said a third.
A fourth joked: “Last time I looked Manchester was 90 mins from Walsall. Not 3 flights, a visitors visa and a malaria injection away.”

Keke Palmer says she clashed with Ryan Murphy while working on Scream Queens
Keke Palmer has claimed she clashed with Scream Queens director Ryan Murphy while working on the series.
Speaking in a new interview about her memoir Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative, in which she shares anecdotes from her career so far, Palmer reflected on her two seasons making Fox’s 2015 slasher comedy Scream Queens, alongside actors Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Skyler Samuels and Lea Michele.
In her book, 31-year-old Palmer claims that Murphy – who also created American Horror Story and Monsters – called her “unprofessional” during filming, and that an unnamed co-star made a racist remark towards her.
According to the LA Times, Palmer writes that she had been given a shooting schedule and arranged to fulfil another business obligation on her day off. But when that day came around, she was informed by production that she was needed on set.
She decided to attend her prior obligation, and writes that this decision resulted in an angry phone call with Murphy in which he “ripped” into her and told her she was being unprofessional.
“It was kind of like I was in the dean’s office,” Palmer told the publication when asked about the incident. “He was like, ‘I’ve never seen you behave like this. I can’t believe that you, out of all people, would do something like this.’”
The Independent has contacted Murphy’s representative for comment.
The actor said she had imagined she could possibly become one of the people “you keep seeing in Ryan’s world – Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts”. Palmer reckons that possibility went out the window when she pushed back on the scheduling changes.
Palmer said she apologised to Murphy for not being able to film that day, and she thought that would be the end of the disagreement. However, days later, Palmer recalled talking to a co-star in her trailer who said Murphy was still agitated.“I said, ‘Ryan talked to me and I guess he’s cool, it’s fine,’ and she was like, ‘It’s bad,’ trying to make me scared or something, which was a little irritating,” Palmer said.
“I’m still not sure Ryan cared, or got it, and that’s okay because he was just centering his business, which isn’t a problem to me,” Palmer writes in the memoir, via LA Times. “But what I do know is even if he didn’t care, and even if I never work with him again, he knows that I, too, see myself as a business.”

Elsewhere in the book, Palmer alludes to other negative experiences on the Scream Queens set. She describes how a white actor on the show, whom she refers to as “Brenda,” once made a racist remark to her on set.
Palmer writes that “Brenda” was upset over a clash with a colleague, and she tried to calm her down by suggesting that everyone “have fun and respect each other.”
“Keke, literally, just don’t. Who do you think you are? Martin f***ing Luther King?”
“It was such a weighted thing that she said, but I didn’t allow that weight to be projected on me, because I know who I am,” Palmer told LA Times. “I’m not no victim. That’s not my storyline, sweetie. I don’t care what her ass said. If I allow what she said to cripple me, then she would.”
Scream Queens follows the college sorority Kappa Kappa Tau (KKT), which is targeted by a serial killer using the university’s Red Devil mascot as a disguise. It ran for two seasons before being cancelled by Fox.
