The Traitors’ Amanda and Jade had a secret connection all along
Amanda and Jade locked horns on more than one occasion during their stints in The Traitors’ castle – however, they’ve actually been connected all along.
Series 4 of Claudia Winkleman’s phenomenally successful game show came to an epic conclusion last week, with Traitors Rachel and Stephen splitting a prize pot of £97,750.
A staggering 9.4million people tuned in for the nail-biting finale, which saw Faithfuls Jack, Jade, and Faraaz leave the Scottish Highlands empty-handed.
And it’s fair to say the season had it all, from surprising revelations to ultimate Traitor-on-Traitor betrayals and even family connections.
While Ellie confessed upon her banishment that Ross was her boyfriend all along, and Claudia stunned the group after Roxy’s murder by sharing that her mother was Judy, who adopted her aged six, there’s now another link between players to unravel.
Taking to Instagram amid the comedown of the fourth season, retired Metropolitan Police detective Amanda explained that she and Jade go way back – and they had no idea.
During a recorded FaceTime call with her fellow contestant, Amanda began: ‘Back in the 90s, way, way, way before you (Jade) were born, I was a uniformed police officer, and I used to work at Islington Police Station.
‘One of my favourite, favourite people to go out on patrol [with] was a guy called Jonathan. And Jonathan and I used to go out in our car and on the beat, and we’d go and catch criminals in life-or-death situations, and stuff like that.’

‘And there’s a bit of a connection. What is it, Jade?’, she then asked.
Jade revealed: ‘This Jonathan is actually my boyfriend’s dad.’
As the pair shrieked and laughed, Amanda asked: ‘What are the chances?’
Jade went on to explain that she messaged Amanda after filming had ended, keen to know more about where she worked.
‘The Met Police is huge, and then you said, “North London“, and I thought, “OK…”, then you said, “90s’, and I was like, “OK!” And then we just, like, narrowed it down,’ Amanda recalled.
‘You told me his name, and I still didn’t believe it, so I said, “Send me a photo”, you sent me a photo, and I said, “That’s Johnny!”‘
‘That’s just insane,’ Amanda declared, adding that people ‘don’t realise’ what a huge coincidence it is.
‘What’s absolutely lovely about this,’ Amanda continued, ‘is that he was just my favourite person … he was fantastic, and I loved him.’
After they exposed their secret, the comments were flooded by Traitors viewers, with @cullip_diaries writing: ‘Wow what a small world!! ❤️’
‘Sooooo crazy! 😍’, added @twirlynel.
‘This whole time you could have been allies 😢❤️’, said @kohlcass.
Indeed, Amanda and Jade were far from allies in the castle, with Amanda convinced from the start that Faithful Jade was actually a Traitor.
Even long after Amanda was banished following a dramatic roundtable showdown, the surviving players continued to use her so-called detective expertise to shape their opinions of others; hence, Jade always had heat on her.
Following her exit, Amanda explained to Metro that she had suspicions about PhD student Jade as soon as the blindfolds from the Traitor selection came off.
”I had a lot of people on my list, and Jade was at my 12 o’clock. She just looked like the weight of the world was on her shoulders, and it was completely the opposite to me.
‘I actually wanted to be a Traitor, and when I didn’t get the hand on my shoulder, I felt like I’d won the lottery. I felt so elated. That was the moment that I realised that I didn’t want to be a Traitor,’ she said.
Thankfully, the pair were able to patch things up and have remained friends after the cameras stopped rolling.
‘She was one of the first people, when filming was finished, that I called and said, “I am so, so sorry,” and she said, “It’s fine, it’s fine. It’s a game.” She understands; she’s a gamer.
‘I made it so hard for her. I just felt so bad.’
While Amanda was controversially eliminated early doors, Jade made it within touching distance of the prize.
Alas, she didn’t manage to break into the final four, with Rachel and Stephen scheming all along to vote the others out so they could share the jackpot.
Each of them went home almost £50,000 richer – but not before grovelling to the other finalists for deceiving them to the bitter end.
The Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
