The building society clarified how its procedures work
Nationwide Building Society has outlined its procedures following concerns raised by a customer. The person contacted them claiming their credit card had been suspended due to “fraudulent transactions”. They said they were currently awaiting a replacement card to be posted to them.
The customer explained: “There have been two delays so far (due to an IT issue your end). How can I make my monthly minimum payment without incurring missed payments charges?” The building society replied to explain the several alternatives available to the customer.
The organisation said: “You can make your payment by calling us, making a transfer, set up direct debit or visiting one of our branches.” The provider also pointed the customer towards a section on the Nationwide website with further details about credit card payments.
You can settle your credit card through the online banking service or through the app. The customer went on to say they had made a payment through the app on January 21, yet it “still hadn’t credited off the remaining balance from the cancelled card”.
The savings provider responded to clarify the timescales involved. Nationwide said: “Payments usually take one to two working days to clear.
“If you’ve already made a payment, and it’s been more than two working days, please start a chat in the Nationwide banking app or through Internet Banking, or give us a call.” In other news for Nationwide customers, you may be able to secure a £175 payment by transferring your current account to them.
The incentive is available when you move your account from a non-Nationwide provider to a new or existing FlexDirect, FlexAccount or FlexPlus account. You must carry out a complete switch using the Current Account Switch Service, including closing your previous account.
Your switch must be finalised within 28 days. Additionally, you must deposit at least £1,000 and carry out one debit card transaction within 31 days of either opening your account or applying to make the switch.
Customers will be ineligible if they previously received a current account switch offer from the provider since 2021. Nevertheless, there are two exceptions to this rule.
If you previously had a switch payment for switching to a sole account, you may still qualify for the bonus money if you switch to a joint account, and vice versa.
