Police attend Elton High School after man ‘exposed himself’

A small group of pupils from Elton High School witnessed the incident on Bolton Road in Bury at around 8am and contacted the police.

They arrived at school “visibly distressed” and police officers attended to take statements from the teenagers.

The Walshaw Road school sent out an alert to parents reminding them to “speak with their children about personal safety”, such as staying in groups when travelling to and from school, where possible, and avoiding engaging with strangers.

A spokesperson for Elton High School said: “On Monday morning, a small number of students arrived on site visibly distressed after witnessing an incident in the local community prior to the start of the school day.

“The students had appropriately contacted the police themselves before arriving at school. Police attended the school promptly, spoke with staff, and took statements from the students involved.

“The incident did not occur on school premises and is now being managed by the police.

“The event was understandably distressing for those students affected. The school responded immediately by providing reassurance, contacting parents and putting appropriate support in place.

“Student well-being remains our highest priority, and staff continue to monitor and support students throughout the day.
