United magazine issue one launched alongside Stone Roses range with music theme

You couldn’t explore the theme of United and music without saluting the songs that come down from the stands, so there is a feature ranking United’s top 10 supporter anthems. Think bouncing Busby Babes, the banks of the Irwell, and keeping the Red flag flying high.

David Beckham and Andy Cole are a couple of Reds legends who feature – Becks discussing his United career in the course of choosing eight favourite songs for Desert Island Discs, and Cole remembering his own 1999 record Outstanding.

There is an awful lot more to surprise and delight within the upweighted 132-page issue. There’s the inside tale of our 1994 number one hit Come On You Reds, as recalled by some of the players who went into the studio with Status Quo to record it. Talking of chart-toppers, there’s also an evocative run-through of all the UK number ones at the times United won silverware (guaranteed to spark sweet memories).
