Crystal Palace are strongly considering a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen ahead of the transfer deadline next Monday, journalist David Ornstein has reported.

The Selhurst Park side are preparing for Jean-Philippe Mateta’s potential departure during the final week of the January window and have identified Strand Larsen as a potential replacement.

Mateta has informed Palace he would like to leave before the February 2 deadline and has emerged as a target for Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest, who have submitted an initial £35m offer.

Palace will only consider letting Mateta leave if their valuation of around £40m is met and they have a replacement lined up.

According to Ornstein, Palace’s interest in Strand Larsen stems from their sporting director Matt Hobbs, who brought the Norway international to Wolves in the summer of 2024.

While Wolves’ resolve has already been tested by an offer from Leeds United, the Molineux side would prefer to keep Strand Larsen this month, despite the strong chance of relegation.

Strand Larsen initially joined Wolves on loan from La Liga side Celta Vigo in 2024 and registered 14 goals and four assists in his debut Premier League campaign.

The ‘incredible’ 25-year-old saw his move made permanent last summer for £23m, signing a long-term deal until June 2030.

Strand Larsen has struggled to replicate his promising form this season, finding the back of the net just once in 21 league appearances.

He scored his first hat-trick for Wolves in their 6-1 win over Shrewsbury in the FA Cup third round earlier this month but has now gone 14 league games without scoring.

Crystal Palace Monitoring Harry Wilson

Chelsea's Marc Cucurella fouls Fulham's Harry Wilson and is later sent off

Crystal Palace have earmarked Fulham winger Harry Wilson as another potential Premier League-proven reinforcement for their underperforming squad.

According to reports, the Eagles are among a host of Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on the Wales international, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Wilson has been in fine form this term, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 22 appearances, ranking joint-fifth in goal contributions among all Premier League players.

While any formal approaches for Wilson have not been ruled out this month, his departure in the summer appears more likely amid stalling contract talks.
