Cops have also detained another man, aged 43, also on suspicion of murder.
The force are continuing to urge witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesperson said: “We believe Ian was stabbed, and we are treating his death as murder.
“Our thoughts are very much with his family at this time, and they are being supported by specialist officers.
“This remains an active investigation, and we strongly advise the public not to speculate, as doing so could compromise the integrity of our investigation. Further updates will be issued when available.
“We are also continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to call 101 quoting Incident 449 of 26 January.”
