Before Josh Brolin became one of modern Hollywood’s go-to heavyweights in everything from Dune to the MCU, he was doing something a lot more ridiculous and a lot more 2000s: menacing a bunch of impossibly attractive treasure hunters in a scuba-diving crime thriller set in the Bahamas.

That movie was Into the Blue. And if you somehow missed this glossy, half-forgotten bit of sun-drenched nonsense the first time around, now is a very easy time to fix that. Into the Blue is currently streaming free on Tubi and Pluto TV. Released in 2005, Into the Blue follows a group of divers who discover both a legendary shipwreck and a crashed plane full of cocaine, which is obviously the kind of double jackpot that can only go badly. The film stars Paul Walker as Jared, Jessica Alba as Sam,Scott Caan as Bryce, Ashley Scott as Amanda, and Josh Brolin as Bates. It was directed by John Stockwell, who leaned hard into the movie’s mix of underwater adventure, crime-thriller tension, and unabashed beach-movie energy. It’s a totally inessential watch, but it looks great, it’s fun, and there are sharks. How’s that a bad thing?

Is ‘Into the Blue’ Worth Watching?

Into the Blue cost about $50 million and brought in roughly $46.3 million worldwide, so it wasn’t exactly a hit, but it is also not hard to see why it has stuck around as a cable-and-streaming curiosity. The reputation is definitely mixed. Rotten Tomatoes has it sitting at 20% from critics, with the site’s consensus basically saying all the beautiful people and underwater photography cannot save the plot from sinking. That sounds harsher than the movie really plays today, because the appeal here is obviously not some tightly coiled masterpiece of suspense, it’s silly, frothy nonsense. The esteemed critic Roger Ebert recommended it, awarding it 3/4 and adding:

“Into the Blue” offers modest pleasures. It is not an essential film, but if you go to see it, it will not insult your intelligence, and there’s genuine suspense toward the end. It is a well-made example in a genre that has been cheapened and made routine. There’s evidence the filmmakers spent more time talking about the characters and story than about how special effects would allow them to cheat on the narrative logic. And at the end of the film, there are some small surprises about who has survived and who has not. Usually you can predict the final head count at the end of the first act.

Diesel Brothers star David “Heavy D” Sparks’ and wife Ashley Sparks have called it quits.

According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, Ashley filed for divorce from the reality star in Utah on Tuesday, March 10. A reason for the split was not listed.

Us has reached out to David for comment.

David and Ashley reportedly met at church in Utah in 2008 before tying the knot two years later in August 2010. The pair share three children: daughter Charley Mae as well as sons Beau and Mack.

While celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary in August 2021, Ashley opened up about her relationship with David.

“I used to always say to Dave, ‘I love everything about you.’ The last time I said it out of habit, I laughed and took it back. ‘Actually no I don’t. Buuut I’m madly in love with you!’ We both laughed,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “It’s honestly kinda refreshing to realize that. No one is perfect. No marriage is perfect. And no two people love every. single. thing. about. each. other.”

Ashley confessed that she and David both have quirks that the other doesn’t enjoy but stressed that they strive to “focus on the good.”

“Marriage has its ups and downs for sure. We’ve had our fair share of both. But I’m realizing if you focus on the downs. You tend to get more downs. You focus on the ups. You tend to get more ups,” she continued. “And when you’re so focused on those ups, it’s waaay easier to get through the downs when they inevitably come your way.”

David is best known for starring on Discovery Channel’s Diesel Brothers, which followed a group of friends in Utah who repair and customize pickup trucks. David and his pals were discovered after former late-night host and car enthusiast Jay Leno saw their YouTube channel. The series premiered on the Discovery Channel in 2016. It ran for seven seasons, with its final season airing in 2020.

Last year, David made headlines after he was arrested in October 2025 after allegedly failing to pay fees owed in connection with another lawsuit. He addressed his arrest that same month.

“As many of you know, I just got out of jail and it’s time to set the record straight,” David said in an October 2025 Instagram video. “Yes, I was arrested on Tuesday morning as I was preparing to board a jet to speak at an event on behalf of the State of Utah. Yes, I just walked out of three days of solitary confinement in the maximum security wing of the Salt Lake County jail.”

David clarified that his arrest was not about him “refusing to pay money” that he “rightfully owed.”

“This was about standing up to a broken system that’s been hijacked by bad actors, mostly lawyers, who have learned to twist environmental laws into personal profit machines,” David claimed in the clip. “If I didn’t fight back it would just leave this door open for them to continue doing as they’ve done to 20 plus other people and companies here in Utah alone over the past decade.”

It’s impossible to deny the impact that streaming services have had on television and film. Beyond simply offering these creations for our viewing pleasure, streaming has changed the way that productions themselves take shape. These days, you’re likely to get eight episodes of a prestige television series once every three years, rather than a 22+ episode season every autumn. While these long gaps can support massive budgets, big name stars, and more intentional writing, they make it difficult to keep up with storylines and develop memorable characters.

We’ve seen this trend negatively impact productions such as Stranger Things, which saw its core cast of lovable young kids sprout into full-blown adults over the course of five seasons. Now, according to a recent write-up from Polygon, it looks like Apple TV’s greatest new series is set to receive the same unfortunate fate. The show in question, Pluribus, likely won’t return for a second season until late 2027, at the earliest.

We’re Not Getting Any Younger

For those not in the know, Pluribus is the latest project from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan. The Apple TV original concluded its inaugural nine-episode season in December of 2025, ending with a high-stakes cliffhanger. The series was originally greenlit in September 2022 with a two-season order, prompting many fans to assume that the second season would follow a tight production schedule.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as Vince Gilligan has confirmed that the team behind Pluribus has only just begun mapping out the next batch of episodes. While discussing his process with Polygon, Gilligan stated “We are breaking the season. It is not going quite as fast as I would hope, but we’re hoping there’s lots more excitement and twists and turns. And I think we got some dramatic stuff coming up in season 2.”

Later in that same discussion, Gilligan acknowledged the elongated production schedule, joking “we’re looking forward to people seeing it in eight or nine years when we get Season 2 finished.” Luckily, Pluribus doesn’t feature a core cast of young children, so the ticking clock may not be a complete show-killer. Still, it’s disheartening to binge through nine hours of incredible narrative, only to find out you’ll have to wait for two or more years to receive a conclusion.

Great Art Takes Time

Marvel was able to put out Infinity War and Endgame in the span of a year. Parks and Recreation reliably churned out 125 episodes in six years. Now, fans are forced to wait half a presidential term to catch eight new episodes of a show that doesn’t even need a massive special effects budget. With all due respect to the team behind Pluribus, this cheapens the material. Once the episodes arrive, every single moment that doesn’t immediately progress the plot feels like a waste of time.

To give an example of exactly how this trend is killing TV shows, let’s look at Pluribus‘ first season. Episode 7 “The Gap” is one of the most visually stunning journeys ever committed to the small screen. In the episode, a fan-favorite character makes a perilous trek across unknown territory, as the camera lingers and highlights some spectacular scenery. It’s the kind of thing you might see in a nature documentary, or a feature film about the dangers of global warming and the beauty of the untraveled planet.

I’d like to be able to fully enjoy scenes like these. Unfortunately, I was acutely aware of the fact that there were only two more episodes after the journey, and that I’d likely have to wait a very long time to get a real conclusion. As a result, the travel montage made me antsy and left me wondering how the season would wrap up in a satisfying way. In the old days, I’d be able to enjoy multiple filler episodes, bottle episodes, and one-off adventures that contribute little or nothing to the overall plot, because I could remain confident that there would be enough material to keep me hooked for weeks.

Trading Slop For Art

Vince Gilligan himself is no stranger to these tight production timelines. Breaking Bad managed to reliably deliver 13 hour-long episodes each year, culminating in 62 episodes over five seasons. Better Call Saul had a similar trajectory, despite airing through a global pandemic and taking a production break after lead actor Bob Odenkirk suffered a near-fatal heart attack on set. I understand that a sci-fi epic like Pluribus can contain a lot of moving parts, but surely the team behind the show is capable of delivering a batch of episodes under significantly less tumultuous conditions.

The good news is, Pluribus is very, very good. I’ll still be thinking about the show and open to rewatching it when the new episodes do finally filter through. The point is, this trend of taking multiple years to deliver brief seasons is killing TV, because most other shows simply don’t provide the same value. If you’re not Vince Gilligan, you probably shouldn’t get comfortable joking about this sort of thing, because it might leave your show dead in the water.

“I’m truly, like, I want the Parenthood reunion. I’ll say it. I want the reboot,” he told Us at The Avalon Hollywood. “I’m pushing it. I’ll try to start it, but I haven’t heard anything.”

Back in 2023, creator Jason Katims admitted that he’s been thinking about ways to bring the Braverman family back together.

“It’s interesting, I think it’s getting to be like enough time has passed where you can really look at the next generation,” he told E! News at the time. “I’m so curious to see where Max [played by Max Burkholder] is and Amber [Whitman] and so many of these people, like Drew [Heizer].”

Sam Jaeger, who played Joel Graham on the fan-favorite series, previously expressed his interest in a reunion. The only caveat to his potential involvement? The script would have to be perfect.

“I want to protect what’s there,” he told People in April 2025 of the series. “But at the same time, parenting has changed so much since we finished that show. And so I think it’d be interesting to revisit that aspect of it.”

For now, Heizer is enjoying the unofficial title of uncle to Whitman’s real-life son.

In August 2024, Whitman — who played Drew’s sister, Amber Holt, on Parenthood — announced the arrival of her first child named Miles.

“I was very shocked and honored and scared and overwhelmed,” Heizer said in reaction to the name. “It’s truly the kindest thing anyone could ever do, and I have fear that I don’t deserve it, but I’m so flattered.”

Idris Elba is one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and he has been for years, dating back to his performances in Losers and Mandela: Hard Walk to Freedom. Elba has also developed quite a name for himself, starring as Heimdall in a series of MCU movies opposite Chris Hemsworth, and a few years ago, he even crossed the aisle by starring in James Gunn’s DC Suicide Squad movie. However, the role that first earned Elba his acclaim from both critics and fans is the legendary yet complicated detective, John Luther. Elba played the character in 20 episodes of the mystery series between 2010 and 2019, and a few years ago, he returned to the role in the Netflix original movie, Luther: The Fallen Sun. The film was released on streaming in 2023 and met with mostly positive, albeit slightly controversial, reviews. Netflix even greenlit a sequel to the film, which is now in production and eyeing a release date sometime in 2027. What Else Is Idris Elba Working on Right Now?

In addition to his imminent return as John Luther, Idris Elba also has a handful of other exciting projects in the works. He will star in the Masters of the Universe movie this summer, which is coming to theaters on June 5. He is also expected to reprise his role as Knuckles in the fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which recently cast Kristen Bell as Amy Rose ahead of its planned March 19, 2027, release. Created by the combined efforts of Stephen Carpenter, Jim Kouf, and David Greenwalt, you won’t want to miss out on this wild, wacky, and nerve-wracking ride.

‘Grimm’ Reworked the Popular Fairy Tales Into a 21st-Century-Style Procedural

If you haven’t had the pleasure of giving Grimm a shot, now is the perfect time to rectify that. What began as a mash-up between urban police procedural and fairy tales quickly turned into one of the most thrilling (and often forgotten) shows of the 2010s. The series followed Portland-based Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) whose life is turned entirely upside down when his dying aunt arrives on his doorstep with the strangest thing he could ever hear: he’s one of the very last “Grimms.” What’s a Grimm? They’re a long line of guardians meant to keep human beings and mythological creatures, dubbed “Wesen,” at peace — and Wesen are generally terrified of or actively despise them. Thus, each episode tackles a new tale inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ collection of fairy tales before expanding into a much deeper mythology that puts the titular Grimm at the center of the high-concept action that expertly blends urban fantasy, horror, and cop drama.

Grimm only gets better over the course of its six seasons, pushing the lines between genres as it explores its strange and oddly specific world. Alongside his human partner, Detective Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby), and Wesen ally (and former “big bad wolf”) Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Nick’s job as a police detective quickly overlaps with his work as a Grimm, as he is often forced to track down offending Wesen whenever they act up in human affairs. With the ability to see their true forms (and a trailer full of his aunt’s research material), Nick has an advantage over many of the Wesen in the greater Portland area. Also featured in the series is future Superman & Lois star Elizabeth Tulloch, who initially plays Nick’s fiancée Juliette Silverton who, as Nick leans deeper into his new life, changes considerably over time. And that’s not to forget about Claire Coffee‘s Adalind Schade either, who goes from being a recurring antagonistic Hexenbiest to a regular Grimm ally (and more) by the end.

Shot on-location in the heavily forested Portland area, the series ran for an impressive 123 episodes on NBC, arguably the only genre show to truly thrive on the network during this time. While NBC tried a handful of different high-concept shows during this era, including the short-lived Dracula, two seasons of Revolution, and the failure that was Heroes Reborn, Grimm was the only sci-fi/fantasy series that succeeded at securing a full run on the network. Even though the final season ran a shortened 13 episodes, the rest of the program’s 22-episode seasons raked in an audience that kept it on air for years — and it was hard to say goodbye.

‘Grimm’ Didn’t Fall Into the Usual Procedural Traps

Although it was never a gritty cop drama, Grimm featured highly lovable characters and plenty of action that brings this occult detective series into the forefront as an underrated network television gem. But aside from the creative creatures and fascinating 21st-century takes on the Grimm Brothers’ most famous fairy stories, part of what made the weekly “spooky cop” show so exciting was that the characters themselves were no strangers to change week by week. Unlike most similarly-flavored shows like Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or The X-Files, where the characters change very little over the course of time (and if they do, they are likely to revert to their stock character defaults), Grimm had no problem moving beyond the “case-of-the-week” format it began and evolving into a more character-driven narrative. The results speak for themselves.

Although an imperfect show that sometimes went a bit overboard with some of its characters, Grimm was a diamond in the network television rough. With great horror-inspired episodes, you’ll find that Grimm is an addictive binge that you won’t want to turn off. When the show ended, there were initial reports that a spin-off was in the works, but that project never materialized. However, fans who find themselves totally infatuated with the paranormal procedural will be excited to hear that some sort of Grimm reboot film is currently underway. We know very little about it right now, but former star Elizabeth Tulloch noted that series star David Giuntoli (her real-life husband as a result of their time together on the show) has been in talks with those behind-the-scenes. Even if you were happy with Grimm‘s series finale, it’s great news to hear that more is on the way.
