Marcus Rashford was sent home from Manchester United’s training ground on Monday after being assessed by club doctors and found to have a high temperature, reports say.

The 27-year-old forward, who has spent two decades at the club, was following United’s policy requiring unwell players to attend Carrington for medical evaluation.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Rashford then appeared the following day at his former primary school – something that will undoubtedly raise more questions about his future.

During the visit, according to the Daily Mail, the United academy graduate handed out 420 presents to pupils at the school where his football journey began.

Manager Ruben Amorim also left out Alejandro Garnacho from the squad for the derby triumph at the Etihad Stadium.

The Portuguese boss later warned both players that he “pays attention to everything”, including their choice of clothing and interactions with team-mates.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Amorim’s bold decision was vindicated as United secured a dramatic win through goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.

While the manager insisted neither player was permanently excluded from his plans, Rashford’s illness prevented him from training on Monday to prove his worth.

Reports have claimed that Manchester United are prepared to consider offers in the region of £40million for the England international.
