With three movies lined up in the next 12 months, not to mention the three shows that he’s working on, director Guy Ritchie is certainly calling attention to himself. There was a time when he’d have a regular amount of output, but that time ended around a decade ago, when he tasted blockbuster success for the first time with Sherlock Holmes. Although the action-packed mystery movie remains his only successful big-screen franchise-starter — it was followed by Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows — it wasn’t for lack of trying. Ritchie has attempted to launch numerous new franchises over the years with very little success. In fact, his most recent movie also set up a sequel, but there has been no firm update about it. This could be because of financial or logistical reasons, since there doesn’t seem to be any question about the movie’s success.
It recently passed a major milestone on home video, which is saying something, because that’s where Ritchie’s audience is. The filmmaker’s fans have even pushed box-office underperformers such as The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre to success, not to mention the critically acclaimed war drama The Covenant. Each of these movies was first released in theaters, where they garnered the attention that would be essential to their success at home. However, Ritchie’s most recent movie also happened to be his first to be made directly for a streaming platform.

Find Out How Long ‘Fountain of Youth’ Has Spent on Apple’s Viewership Charts
The film in question is Fountain of Youth, the globe-trotting epic that combined the adventurous tone of the Indiana Jones and the National Treasure franchises with Ritchie’s trademark humor. The movie featured John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Eiza González, and Domhnall Gleeson, and was released on Apple TV in 2025. It earned poor reviews, and is now sitting at a 35% critics’ score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. Despite a 38% audience score, Fountain of Youth seems to be doing exceptionally well with viewers. According to FlixPatrol, the movie has now spent more than 250 days on the domestic Apple TV chart. Ritchie has three movies lined up — the action-thriller In the Grey, which is due out in May; the dark comedy Wife & Dog, which will be released in October; and Viva La Madness, an action-comedy in the vein of his signature early hits. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
