A WWE and ECW legend has revealed that he is open to working with AEW. The veteran in question, Shane Douglas, has one condition for doing so, however, revolving around the company’s motivation to improve its position in the industry.
Over the past six years, AEW has grown tremendously as a major budding US-based wrestling promotion. The promotion’s success has positioned it as a legitimate rival brand to WWE, a fact that cannot be denied in light of the Stamford-based company’s recent counter-programming attempts against All Elite Wrestling, among other related business moves.
AEW’s success also owes itself in part to the knowledge and experience that its veterans bring to the table, including older in-ring competitors like The Hurt Syndicate, Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, Dustin Rhodes and Billy Gunn, as well as backstage personnel such as Dean Malenko and Chris Hero, to name only a few. Now, another wrestling legend, Shane Douglas, has discussed his interest in bringing his talents to All Elite Wrestling.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, The “Franchise” explained that he would be willing to work for the Tony Khan-led company, but only if the promotion refuses to get complacent with its place in the industry, and is willing to make use of his experience and expertise to develop its position even further.
“So AEW has to ask itself a question: do they want to become a major player in this business, or are they comfortable being the smaller alternative on the side? I know where I stand. I’ve never been content being second best at anything. So to answer the question — yes, I could work with [All Elite Wrestling]. I can work with just about anyone, as long as they truly want what I have to offer. And only they can decide that.” [H/T- Ringside News]
Shane Douglas’ critique of AEW’s product
Elsewhere in the same video, Shane Douglas talked about how in his view, AEW’s booking and presentation strategies have not evolved over the past few years. This is why things have not improved drastically for the company, the 61-year-old implied, stating:
“I’ve been around long enough to see that old saying about insanity play out — doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If [All Elite Wrestling] keeps doing the same thing year after year and expects things to suddenly change, why would they?””
Whether All Elite Wrestling might ever hire Douglas in any capacity remains to be seen.

Manchester United have been linked with Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni
Manchester United-linked midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has been fined €500,000 (£431,952.50) and apologised following his bust-up with Federico Valverde. The Real Madrid duo were said to have come to blows in the build-up to El Clasico this weekend with Barcelona on the brink of winning La Liga.
Tchouameni has been linked to join United as part of their midfield rebuild this summer with change expected at Old Trafford this summer. Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract and an injection of energy has been billed for the engine room at the Theatre of Dreams.

According to Ben Jacobs, United were said to have made contact with the former AS Monaco midfielders’ representatives. Tchouameni, who famously scored against England at the 2022 World Cup, faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid with the record Champions League holders potentially looking to cash in with the 26-year-old entering the final 12 months of his contract.

But if this season was to be the Frenchman’s last, it could be shrouded in controversy after the altercation with Valverde. Financial penalties have been confirmed a day after disciplinary proceedings were opened against the pair following their disagreement during a first-team training session.
Valverde was hospitalised in the wake of the incident after hitting his head on a table, but the Uruguayan reiterated that no punches were thrown by either party.
The incident has brought Los Blancos under immense scrutiny. It came with Barcelona having the chance to win the league and achieve the feat by beating their fierce rivals – with United’s own Marcus Rashford set to pick up a league winner’s medal if they can get a positive result against their bitter rivals.
In the wake of the substantial fines, Tchouameni issued an apology on his Instagram. He said: “What happened this week in training is unacceptable. I say this while thinking about the example we are expected to set for young people, whether in football or at school. No matter who is right or wrong, we should always look for the calmest solution to resolve a conflict.
“Above all, I am sorry for the image we projected of the club. I know the fans, the staff, my teammates, the management, everyone is deeply disappointed by the way this season has unfolded. But frustration cannot excuse everything. These incidents, even if they can happen in any dressing room, are not worthy of Real Madrid. Especially since Real Madrid is the most talked-about club in the world.
“The internet loves to invent the wildest stories for the buzz so don’t believe everything that’s being said or the false narrative. Anyway, now is no longer the time to figure out who did what, who said what, or who was right or wrong. I acknowledge the club’s sanction and I accept it.
“We remain a family, with disagreements at times, but we must always put our objectives above everything else. I have apologised to the group, and I also want to extend my apologies to all Madridistas.
“Now it is time to move forward, and all our focus is on El I Clásico and on the season ahead, to bring the club back to the top, where it belongs.”
He followed his teammate, Valverde, who will be out for up to two weeks after suffering a head injury during the incidents. It has been suggested that the Uruguayan slipped and banged his head on a table, leaving a gash on the front
Advertisement
“Yesterday I had an incident with a teammate during a training session. The fatigue from competition and the frustration made everything seem blown out of proportion.
“In a normal locker room, these things can happen and are usually resolved internally without it becoming all public. Clearly, someone here is spreading rumours, and with a season without titles, where Real Madrid is always under scrutiny, everything gets blown out of proportion.
“Today we had another disagreement. During the argument, I accidentally hit a table, causing a small cut on my forehead that required a routine visit to the hospital. At no point did my teammate hit me; I didn’t hit him either. I feel that my anger about the situation, frustration at seeing some of us struggling to get through the end of the season, giving it our all, pushed me to the point of arguing with a teammate.
“I wasn’t going to speak out until the end of the season. We were eliminated from the Champions League, and I kept my anger and resentment to myself.
“We’ve wasted another year, and I wasn’t in a position to be posting on social media when the only face I had to show was on the field, and I feel that’s what I did.
“That’s why I’m the one who’s most saddened and pained to be going through this situation that prevents me from playing the next match due to medical decisions.
“I always gave it my all, to the very end, and it hurts me more than anyone not to be able to do so. I am available to the club and my teammates to collaborate on any decision they deem necessary. Thank you.”
Those beaten and local training outfits were fast to offer congratulations to Braidon Small for taking out the Grand Annual Steeplechase at Warrnambool with Instigator under him.
Back in 2023 Small learned of his brain tumour, underwent surgery and endured radiation plus chemotherapy to pave the way for returning to racehorse riding, jumpers in particular.
“You get up and keep moving forward. That’s what you’ve got to keep doing,” Small told racing.com after Instigator scraped home by the slimmest margin in Australia’s harshest test on Thursday over 5500m featuring 33 jumps.
Son to Cyril Small, who rode Vo Rogue through the late ’80s and into the ’90s, Small had a win drought of nearly three years ended by Instigator at Terang last month but was downcast by the Aaron Purcell-trained gelding’s showing in the Brierly Steeplechase (3450m) on Tuesday at Warrnambool.
“I went home with my head between my knees and sulking,” Small said.
“I’ve always had full faith in Aaron and the team at home and Aaron wouldn’t have run him today if he didn’t think he was right.
He obviously ate up well, trotted up well this morning and he had a bit more pep in his step on the way to start, not his usual tactic, so he was obviously feeling good.
That was great fun.”

The finish saw Instigator ($11) prevail by half a head against Hit The Road Jack ($4), Gambu ($26) 15 lengths adrift in third place.
Numbers worked in Small’s favour on May 7.
“In our family, our lucky number is seven,” Small said.
“I didn’t want to fill myself with a lot of nonsense, but he had saddle blanket seven and was in race seven.
I told no-one, I wouldn’t even let myself believe it.
We had a big job at hand, and I was more worried with that than numbers and stats and that sort of stuff.”
Instigator, bred in Germany, had his initial start at Cologne on May 7 2017, winning a maiden at 1800m.
May 7 becomes Instigator’s final racing day, given Australian rules prohibit running past age 13.

“It’s a forced retirement this year, otherwise we would be bringing him back next year,” Purcell said.
“This is the horse’s last start ever and it’s amazing it’s come off.
Braidon has been with us a long time, 10, 15 years and been working hard and this is the race we’ve always wanted.”
This victory is Purcell’s second in the Grand Annual Steeplechase, following Ginolad’s success in 2008.

After a career-best win against Junto Nakatani, Naoya Inoue is already being linked to a host of names, but he has been warned that he will be ‘slain’ on home turf if he accepts a clash with one rumoured dance partner.
“Bam is already known as the ‘Legend Slayer,’ and it doesn’t get any better than Inoue,
“I think the timing is perfect timing, if they end up fighting early next year. By then, we’ll have a lot of answers at 118, and we’ll have Bam back in the ring, hopefully by October, against another top bantamweight.”
“Jesse has the skills to compete against the best in the world, and he wants to fight Inoue … Inoue is still very fast and powerful, but I think Jesse has the skills, smarts and accuracy as the technical fighter to pull it off. We definitely have all of the skills to beat Inoue.”
Rodriguez has expressed his willingness to venture to Inoue’s backyard for the fight, and Saudi powerhouse Turki Alalshikh has confirmed his interest in organising a clash between the pound-for-pound stars in early 2027.

Kate Walters, the jockey, let tears flow after landing Any Luck her greatest success to date.
Her first ‘Black Type’ win came in Thursday’s Listed Warrnambool Cup (2350m), a milestone since her 2000 career launch.
Trainer Wayne Walters’ daughter partnered with him to share the Warrnambool Cup glory, but as she made her way back to scale, her eyes lifted skyward in memory of fellow jockey.
Walters disclosed post-race that Dean Holland, lost in a Donald race fall over three years ago, was foremost in her thoughts.
“Dean was one of my best friends,” Walter told racing.com.
“I knew him before he had all of the tatts and I’m the one who would get him drunk.
“I miss him all-the-time, especially at this Carnival and I’d do anything to have him back.”
From $41 in betting, Any Luck followed up her Tuesday 2350m benchmark 70 fourth by nipping $4 favourite Alder on the line by a half-head, Tempesti ($8.50) 1-¾ lengths adrift in third.

Walters boasts a perfect record riding the mare Any Luck across all 47 starts, securing eight wins and more than $440,000 in stakes.
“I know her inside and out and I’ve ridden her since she was two,” Walter said.
“I thought her run on Tuesday was huge and she dropped 5-½ kilos today.
“She’s tough as Alder got in front of her and she kicked back.
“I said to Dad that as we had drawn the outside gate, we should go back, but he said don’t go too far back.
“So, it worked out in his favour.”
Though focused on country racing, Walters has neared Black Type before, including with Any Luck’s sire Puccini at Group 3 level in Adelaide.
The trainer Walters pointed out Any Luck’s dam Luckzat’s fourth-place effort in the 2013 Warrnambool Cup.
Lacking full fitness for her Terang fourth two back, Any Luck benefited from shedding weight post-Tuesday, per Walters.
“She knocked up here the other day after pulling it’s brains out and I thought she would be right for Thursday,” Walters said.
“Plus, she carried 59-½ (kilos) on Tuesday and dropped to 54 today.”

Cameron Green said being at the non-striker’s end during Finn Allen’s century against Delhi Capitals was one of those moments a player gets to experience only a few times in a career.Allen’s unbeaten 100 off 47 balls helped Kolkata Knight Riders register their fourth straight win in IPL 2026 on Friday. KKR chased down 143 in 14.2 overs to win by eight wickets.

Rajat Patidar reflects on RCB’s defeat, praises Devdutt Padikkal
The New Zealand batter hit 10 sixes and five boundaries during his knock after coming into the game with 110 runs from six matches this season.Speaking after the match, Green praised Allen’s innings and said, “So special. I think you only get the chance to be at the other end a handful of times in your career, so that’s one of them.”Allen and Green shared an unbeaten partnership as KKR comfortably completed the chase. Asked about his conversation with Allen in the middle, Green said, “Nothing really. I think, Finn, all he said was, ‘see you next over.’ So, yeah, that’s basically what I tried to do. I was just the other end playing second fiddle.”Green also revealed that he was calculating the chase carefully when Allen approached his century. With Allen batting on 94 and KKR close to victory, Green made sure his partner kept strike.“I think I did the math when we had 29 to get. So yeah, I knew I’d be the most hated man in Kolkata if I did anything else apart from that,” Green said. When asked who was doing the calculations, Green replied, “No, not us. I was, I did the math. But no, Finn’s very good at maths as well, so I’ll give him credit for that. So, probably, he was probably doing the same. Winning, that’s been the most satisfying.”Earlier, Delhi Capitals were restricted to 142/8 on a slow pitch despite a good start from Pathum Nissanka (50) and KL Rahul (23), who added 49 runs in the first five overs.Allen also had an unfortunate moment during the chase when his shot deflected off Mitchell Starc’s hand onto the stumps at the non-striker’s end, running out KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane.Allen reached his fifty in 32 balls before bringing up the second half of his century in just 15 deliveries. Green remained unbeaten on 33 off 27 balls as KKR sealed the win.

Check out the update that hit the airwaves last night. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has the details: “Former 49ers free-agent WR Jauan Jennings and the Minnesota Vikings reached agreement today on a one-year deal worth up to $13 million, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus.”
Vikings Sign Jauan Jennings
Several more plugged-in NFL writers offered details to clarify the nature of the contract. After all, there’s that sneaky “up to” phrasing that needs to be accounted for within the accounting.
Alec Lewis of The Athleticjumped into the mix: “The Vikings’ deal for Jauan Jennings has an $8 million base salary with upside up to $13 million. Pretty exceptional deal for a WR with 130+ catches, 1,500+ yards and 15 TDs in the last two years. Run-blocking impact matters here, too.”
Kicking up the compensation to the full $13 million could be based on a variety of different things. All of playing time, individual stats, awards, and other things could unlock more money.
Sep 14, 2025; New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (15) runs to the end zone after a reception against the New Orleans Saints during the fourth quarter at Caesars Superdome. Mandatory Credit: Matthew Hinton-Imagn Images
Lewis is exactly right within that final tidbit with the run blocking.
At 6’3″ and close to 215 pounds, Mr. Jennings can bully defensive backs. A wide receiver who excels in this facet of football is to be coveted. Quite often, the difference between a good run and a great run is the blocking effort (or lack thereof) from the receivers.
Trent Sherfield worked for the Vikings in 2024 largely due to his ability to move defenders; Jennings is a larger version of Sherfield who possesses far more upside as a receiver.
Indeed, Jennings is coming off a season where he offered the 49ers 55 catches for 643 yards and 9 touchdowns. These numbers arrived within fifteen games. The year before, Jennings was involved in fifteen games, as well. The stats are more ample: 77 catches, 975 yards, and 6 touchdowns.

Proving so proficient at bringing the ball across the goal line is an important detail to remember.
Aug 20, 2022; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Vikings linebacker Patrick Jones II (91) and cornerback Akayleb Evans (21) tackle San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Mandatory Credit: Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports.
On a play calling level, Kevin O’Connell is going to be very pleased. He’ll be able to continue rallying around 11 personnel — 1 RB, 1 TE, and 3 WRs — while running the ball effectively. That’s the theory, at least. Being unpredictable before the snap is to be coveted, especially for a Vikings team that so commonly talks about being multiple, aggressive, and versatile.
Check out what the depth chart may now look like with the Jauan Jennings deal:
WR1 Justin Jefferson
WR2 Jordan Addison
WR3 Jauan Jennings
WR4 Tai Felton
WR5 Myles Price
WR6 Jeshaun Jones
WR7 Joaquin Davis
WR8 Dontae Fleming
WR9 Dillon Bell
WR10 Shaleak Knotts
WR11 Marcus Sanders Jr.
WR12 Luke Wysong
On the most basic level, the Vikings now have zero concerns out at receiver. Only five or six of these names are going to get placed on the list for the 53-man roster. Even after anticipating a possible injury or two, the Vikings signing ensures that there’s ample in-house depth.
A sneaky detail to watch: does Jauan Jennings earn more snaps than Jordan Addison?
Nov 27, 2022; Santa Clara, California, USA; San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (15) catches a touchdown next to New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu (32) in the second quarter at Levi’s Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images.
The Vikings’ cap space prior to the deal was coming in around $15.8 million. Reports of the basic compensation sitting at $8 million doesn’t tell the whole story for the upcoming cap charge for the 2026 season. Maybe that’s where things settle — $8 million hitting the books in 2026 — but jumping into some void year shenanigans could mean kicking cap charges into the future.
A reminder: the deal for Jennings doesn’t impact Minnesota’s compensatory selection for next year since the contract arrives following the 2026 NFL Draft.
Jauan Jennings is going to turn 29 in July. He’ll be looking to leverage his prove-it deal into a beefy contract next offseason. Providing excellence is the key to getting there.
