One person taken to hospital after Northallerton fire
Eight fire engines from Northallerton, Bedale, Thirsk, Stokesley, Ripon, Richmond and Darlington were called to Gaskell Close, within the Standard Way Industrial Estate at about 4.30pm yesterday (November 25).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled the fire preventing it from spreading.
However, one industrial unit was completely destroyed by the blaze and two other units also suffered damage.
The fire service has urged residents to keep windows and doors closed and said they will remain at the scene today to monitor the incident.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews from Northallerton, Bedale, Thirsk, Stokesley, Ripon, Richmond and neighbouring brigade Darlington attended a fire at an industrial building.
“Eight breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets used alongside another two main jets and use of the aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire. Crew from Northallerton will remain and monitor the incident today (November 26).
“The fire caused 100 per cent fire damage to the industrial unit, 10sqm of fire damage and smoke logging to another unit. A further unit also suffered smoke logging. One person was taken to hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
