@jeffgeerling is that USB keystone that you said myelectronics provided still available as a part? there doesn't seem to be any mention of it on their website, with only a non-header version

Interesting build. I'm looking into rackmount desktop builds. How do you connect USB keyboards/mice and monitors in a separate room?

They should just put a horizontal GPU braket in there for a full size GPU. At 19 inches wide, sounds like plenty of room

  15. @zivgruber2864

    September 27, 2024 at 11:16 pm

I have the same case and I've had to drill about 200 small holes on the top to help keep an i5 cool. Poor design for airflow. Would NOT buy again

  16. @goldenheartOh

    September 27, 2024 at 11:16 pm

I once bought a used 2u PC that had a GTX 770 4GB gpu in it. It was "vertically" mounted & covered all the PCIe slots. Poor thing was probably starved for air flow as it had barely 1/4" gap between it & the top of the case. I was tempted to drill holes so it could breathe.

The 2u case was actually designed for a gpu to be mounted sideways like that.

I have no idea how it was intalled since every screw is blocked by some bracket about 3/8" above its head. And the screws for that bracket are also blocket by yet another bracket.

    September 27, 2024 at 11:16 pm

sadly not a gaming pc by any stretch of the imagination. "not a good cpu for gaming" "not for consumers" Neither of the main parts are good for gaming. Also thats a half rack case. you could get a real 2u full rack case and keep all the parts

  18. @AdaptiveSystems

    September 27, 2024 at 11:16 pm

turn that random back fan off for the moment, and put a baffle so the air has to go theough the gpu – this can be some foam that you got in the box on one of your deliveries. also also swap out that cpu fan for sometihng bigger. bigger fans = quieter for the same a mount of air pushed. that way it shouldnt ramp up enough to make it loud, even during load.

  19. @KanyeEastAU

    September 27, 2024 at 11:16 pm

If they had made it 300mm in depth, would it be possible to cool the CPU with a dual 80mm rad water cooling loop?

  20. @fanshaw

    September 27, 2024 at 11:16 pm

I want to go the other way – put a screaming 1u/2u server into a quiet tower case.

  21. @ReallyLongURL

    September 27, 2024 at 11:16 pm

I feel like you could install a more powerful gpu on its side as there seems to be enough room. NOT the power crazy 30's but maybe a 20's model ? and i am sure a 1 year old vide needs this comment. lol

  22. @izzieb

    September 27, 2024 at 11:16 pm

I have nothing clever to say, so I'm just going to send a comment 2U wishing you a good day.
