Watch incredible moment blind Strictly star Chris McCausland gets standing ovation for performance

STRICTLY Come Dancing star Chris McCausland received a standing ovation from the audience for his foxtrot on tonight’s show.

In moving scenes Chris, the show’s first blind contestant, listened to the crowd go wild and landed a score of 29 after gliding across the dancefloor and performing bench work with his partner Dianne Buswell.

The audience were on their feet for Chris

Clearly very impressed, head judge Shirley Ballas praised him as “an example to every celebrity upstairs when it comes to footwork”.

Fellow judge Motsi Mabuse said the slow foxtrot is one of the most difficult dances but she felt he made it look “so easy” while Anton Du Beke said “you are just wonderful”.

Chris joked with Craig Revel Horwood that he had to think of an original comment which was not about his frame, to which the judge countered by critiquing his finger positioning but said he “loved” his spirit in the dance and musicality.

Earlier in the show Chris also poked fun at Revel Horwood following some of his critiques to other contestants, joking: “By the sounds of the way things are going, I think Craig’s blinder than I am.”

Prior to taking part in the show, Chris admitted that he did have his doubts about doing it.

In a piece for The Telegraph, the star confessed that his lack of vision caused him to be “terrified” about the programme.

Writing for the publication, Chris said: “Have I mentioned that I was terrified?

“I mean, how can I possibly have confidence in my ability to do something when I can’t see the entirely visual thing that I’m being asked to do?

“On top of that, stick it on live TV where failures are there for everybody to see and where the chance of a generous edit is absolute zero, and what could possibly go wrong?”

Strictly Come Dancing full lineup 2024: All the contestants from Tasha Ghouri to Pete Wicks

Week two of Strictly Come Dancing saw the celebrity contestants become more at ease on the ballroom floor as they delivered another set of impressive performances on Saturday night (28 September).

At the top of the leaderboard this week are former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec, who had both her dad and the audience in tears with her moving Viennese Waltz to “Misty Blue” by Dorothy Moore. Their score, 35, was the highest ever for a Viennese Waltz in week two of the competition in Strictly history.

Miranda Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, who stunned the audience with their intense and heated Paso Doble to “Freed From Desire” by Gala, came second on the leaderboard, following behind by three points with 32.

Shayne Ward and his partner Nancy Xu pleasantly surprised the judges as they crept up the leaderboard from last week with their sensual Tango to “The Door” by Teddy Swims. They were awarded an impressive score of 31, up 10 points from last week’s score of 21.

Last week, it was JB Gill and his partner Amy Dowden in top place with 31 points, while Ghouri and Sarah Hadland followed behind with 30 points. Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe were in third place with 26 points.

Here is this week’s leaderboard in full, with the individual marks from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke:

Phil Schofield blasts 'three s**ts in showbiz' and talks of 'utter betrayal' by 'fake people' after his brutal ITV axing

ANGRY Phillip Schofield has blamed his downfall on a trio of leading figures at ITV — branding them the “three shs of showbiz”.

The telly veteran lets rip as he sits next to a desert island campfire on his new documentary show.

Among those he appears to take aim at in Channel 5’s Cast Away — which starts tomorrow — are his former This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby.

Another is thought to be This Morning editor Martin Frizell, who Phil seems to blame for letting him take the fall over “queuegate” when he and Holly were accused of pushing in to see the Queen lying in state.

Other targets could include ITV chief Dame Carolyn McCall.

Discussing how he was forced to leave This Morning after 22 years following a fling with a much younger man, Phillip, 62, rants: “They know how important that was to me.

“They know when you throw someone under a bus, you’ve got to have a really bloody good reason to do it. Brand, ambition is not good enough.”

He goes on: “People can be fake. They can be so fake with you when it’s all going well, and suddenly utter, utter betrayal.

“There are a lot of amazing people in morning television.

“I think there are only three sh*s. One of them is a coward who never stepped up in queuegate.

“One is a coward, because they never stepped up when I was being battered And the other is just brand-orientated.

“Not what you expect, not what you think you’re going to get.”

‘Coming out caused me more anguish than joy’, says Phillip Schofield

In a dig at his former management firm YMU, which still represents top TV talent, Phillip reveals they axed him by text.

He says: “I was suicidal and they sent me what looked like a cut and pasted text.

“Thirty one years. There is so much more I could say.”

Elsewhere in the three-parter which sees him spend ten days alone on a small island off Madagascar, Phillip hints the show is his showbiz swansong.

He says: “They’ve taken pretty much everything. Reputation, dignity, legacy, everything.

“I’m not bleating, I’m just getting it off my chest. And anyone who’s bitter about that, honestly, you can f* off ’cause I don’t give a s*t. I quit.”

Holly, 43, yesterday shrugged off the controversy, celebrating the third birthday of her wellness company Wylde Moon.
