Nintendo Switch 2: everything we know about the long-rumored Switch successor

Estimated read time 16 min read

It’s official: a successor to the Nintendo Switch will be announced “within the fiscal year” according to Nintendo, which means that we will see it before 31 March 2025. The wait is on now that we have that announcement window, though there is still very little concrete information about the console itself.

The last hardware refresh that the Nintendo Switch received was with the launch of the Nintendo Switch OLED on October 8, 2021. Although the Nintendo Switch OLED boasts an enhanced OLED display, not to mention additional internal storage and improved speakers, there were no substantial upgrades to the power of the machine itself. This is a little problematic as, while the majority of the best Nintendo Switch games manage to run smoothly enough, the Nintendo Switch is still powered by a modest Nvidia Tegra X1 chip and just 4GB of RAM.
