Inter Milan came up short in their latest Champions League outing, falling 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in a game that saw the Nerazzurri give everything but still leave Madrid with nothing to show for it.

Despite a resilient performance, Inter’s defensive discipline was breached twice, leaving players and staff frustrated after a contest that could have gone either way.

Defender Yann Bisseck, reflecting on the match for Amazon Prime Video, via FCInterNews, admitted the disappointment but praised the team’s effort.

“In football it happens, sometimes you give everything… We didn’t deserve to lose today, but football is like that. We’ll keep working, and maybe in the future we’ll have a bit more luck,” he said.

Atletico 2-1 Inter – Bisseck: ‘It’s not fair… but that’s football’

When asked what was missing, Bisseck explained: “We gave everything, we conceded two or three shots and then two goals. It’s not fair, but that’s football.”

His honesty underscored the feeling around the club that the result did not reflect the quality of Inter’s performance.

Bisseck was quick to emphasise the positives, however. “I’m happy with the team’s performance, we did things well. There are things to improve, but I can’t say anything bad about the team. It hurts, badly. I don’t know what to say,” he added.

The defeat leaves Inter reflecting on missed opportunities while also recognising the character shown on the field.

With several crucial matches ahead, Bisseck and his teammates will be looking to convert strong performances into points, both domestically and in Europe.

For now, the focus shifts to regrouping and preparing for the next challenge, with a trip to Pisa scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
