Wyvern Academy installs solar panels in government scheme
Wyvern Academy, part of Consilium Academies, will be involved in the national rollout of solar panels.
Joel Thornton, Director of Infrastructure and Operations at Consilium Academies, said: “We are delighted to be working with Great British Energy and our delivery partner AECom partners AECom and Solar for Schools to install solar panels at Wyvern Academy.
“This will make the school far more energy-efficient, reduce our carbon footprint, and deliver financial savings that can be redirected into resources for our students.
“It’s a positive step for our school community and the environment.”
The scheme, which was announced 17th November 2025, will provide rooftop solar installations to over 250 schools across England and is funded by Great British Energy and the UK government.
It will allow the school to generate their own electricity, cut down on energy expenses, and use the savings for educational purposes, the academy trust said.
Wyvern Academy will join a growing number of schools adopting renewable energy, ensuring long-term energy savings and contributing to a lower-carbon future.
