USC Peaking at Right Time with Alijah Arenas in Top Form
Following their win over Indiana on Tuesday night, USC has won consecutive games and three of their last four, with the lone loss during that stretch a tough one-point game at Iowa.
Holding serve at home against an Indiana team ranked 30th in the NET was huge for the Trojans, a team sitting firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble as February gets rolling.
And the importance of the win over another bubble team was not lost on Eric Musselman, who pointed out in the postgame that given the NCAA Tournament implications and Big Ten Standings, “This game is not worth one game.”
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the victory was the play of Alijah Arenas. The five-star recruit with an NBA pedigree had his best game to date in the win over the Hoosiers. Arenas established new career highs with 29 points and six rebounds.
It was the first time in his five games played that he had cracked double figures in scoring. Perhaps more importantly, he played 37 minutes on Tuesday night.
Arenas made his Trojan debut on January 21 following a tumultuous 11 months in which he nearly died in a horrendous car accident, then had to rehab from a torn meniscus.
In his first four games with the Trojans, he averaged just 23.3 minutes per game. Getting a full run is a promising sign.
And for a USC team on the bubble, getting production from the talented guard as he finds his stride is huge.
Arenas is a bona fide scorer and playmaker who can create his own shot. Moving forward, opponents will have to pay even more attention to Arenas’s offensive prowess—and that should open things even more on the offensive end for the likes of Chad Baker-Mazara and Ezra Ausar.

Baker-Mazara is another guy who can create space for himself on offense. Ausar is athletic in the front court and has reached double figures in 20 of 23 games, including 12 in a row. Adding another scorer also allows Kam Woods to be a true point guard and really play to his strengths.
With Arenas hitting his stride, the Trojans have a chance to make a lot of noise down the stretch.
The lone East Coast trip remaining is the Penn State/Ohio State combo.
The Nittany Lions have been a disaster this season with just one Big Ten win and nine of their 10 wins on the season being Quad 4 wins. The Buckeyes offer SC a chance to steal a road game against another bubble team, albeit in a tough place to pick up a road win.
The rest of the slate sees just one road game, a trip to a sneaky good Washington team and the cross-town trip to UCLA.
USC could certainly solidify themselves as tournament locks before the calendar turns to March with visits from a pair of top 10 opponents in Illinois and Nebraska later this month. Even getting one of those would certainly erase doubt as long as the Trojans take care of their business.
With the firepower USC possesses, especially with a healthy and productive Alijah Arenas, this is a squad that could put together a run in March.
Simply making the big dance may not seem very ambitious once we reach mid-March.

Michael Irvin predicts Cowboys will play in next year’s Super Bowl
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
SAN FRANCISCO – Ever since their Super Bowl victories in the 1990s, the Dallas Cowboys have been the practical definition of mediocre.
The team has yet to make it to an NFC championship game since it won the 1996 Super Bowl three decades ago, but the top receiver from that team, Michael Irvin, sees the vision.
Irvin told Fox News Digital on radio row in San Francisco he recently had dinner with soon-to-be second-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer, and he “love[s] the direction Coach is going in.”

“I love what he’s done with the offense, ’cause we found the offense. Now, we just got to solidify and make sure it gets more consistent. And being able to put up 30, 35 points a game,” Irvin said of the star-studded group that includes Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Javonte Williams.
The defense was the clear weakness throughout this season, but Irvin doesn’t want anyone sleeping on them.
“Now, with Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark up the middle, dude, we got a force coming up the middle of the field. We gotta solidify that defense,” Irvin said.
Then came a bold prediction.

“The Cowboys can be in this game next year. We could be sitting here talking about the Cowboys in this game next year, and I want you to find me and make sure you say to me, ‘You said this. You said, Michael, you said, they could be here.’
“They will be here. I want you to find me.”
Cowboys fans daring enough to ride along with Irvin can do it on Hard Rock Bet, which has had a long-standing relationship with the Hall of Famer.
”It’s home, it’s Florida. I’m from Florida. You look back. I’ve had such a great friendship and alignment with them for so long. I did my Hall of Fame party at the Hard Rock, and, of course, Miami plays at the Hard Rock, so I’m always there with them. There’s a natural partnership,” Irvin said.

Catch and Tame: A beginner’s guide
Catch and Tame is a tycoon simulator on Roblox in which you throw a lasso to catch animals from different areas of the map. These animals can then be placed at your pen to start generating some income over time. By collecting and using this money, you can purchase better lassos, EXP-gaining food items, and several buildings that’ll help you progress faster.
In this guide, we’ll discuss everything that you must know about this animal-catching game.
Everything that you must know about Catch and Tame

Developed by Manta Games, Catch and Tame allows you to explore a map, throw the Lasso to catch wild animals, Tame them by completing a minigame, and place them on your base to generate income. Here’s everything that’s important to know before you obtain your first animal:
Pen
As you spawn into the game for the first time, you’ll be allotted a pet pen where you can place all your tamed animals. Upon placing, each animal will start generating money with time that you can collect to access several other features.
At the start, you’ll be able to place only eight animals at your base, while this capacity can be increased by upgrading your fence (using the in-game currency) and expanding the base.
Catching and Taming
To catch your first pet, you have to explore the map and search for an animal that falls within your Lasso’s catching power. Next, you have to tap on the Lasso icon, available at the bottom of your screen, and throw it towards the creature to catch it. Once caught, a taming minigame will start in which you have to tap until the meter at the bottom fills up.
Once you’ve tamed the pet, you can move ahead to place it on your pen and start earning money.
Lassos
Near the gate of your base, you’ll find a shop that allows you to purchase Lassos of different strengths. Here’s a list of all the Lasso that you can purchase:
- Basic Lasso
- Rancher’s Rope
- Metal Lasso
- Steelcoil Lasso
- Stormwrangler
- Sunforged Lasso
- Nightveil Lasso
- Voidweave Lasso
- Celestial Tether
- Nebula Lasso
- Fragmented Lasso
- Blackhole Lasso
Buildings
From the shop, you can also purchase some buildings that’ll help you grow faster in this game. Here’s a list of them all:
- Farm House: A farmhouse to store your pets.
- Animal Post: Attach your animals to the post to keep them in place.
- Nursery: Eggs in the nursery hatch 20% faster.
- Trait Machine: Roll for different traits with your pets.
- Legendary Nursery: Eggs in the nursery hatch 50% faster with 10% more luck.
- Cosmic Nursery: Eggs in the nursery hatch 100% faster with 20% more luck and 10% mutation luck.
Food
Feedind food to your animals will help them grow faster by gaining instant EXP. It is another item that you can purchase by accessing the shop near your base. Here’s a list of all the food items that you can purchase:
- Farmers Feed
- Enriched Food
- Hay
- Bone
- Prime Feed
- Steak
Breeding
By tapping on the heart-shaped icon at the bottom of your screen, you can breed two of your pets to obtain an egg. These eggs can then be placed at your base or Nursery to hatch them into rarer animals. You can also tap on the Recipes icon, placed at the left side of your screen, to discover better breeding pairs.

Underdog Clayton keen to prove Premier League point
Jonny Clayton’s record in the Premier League is a formidable one.
The Welshman won the title on debut in 2021 and has reached finals night in each of this three full appearances in the showpiece event.
But having been overlooked for the past two editions, the Welshman feels he has a point to prove as he returns in 2026.
“I’ve moaned enough about not being in it, so I’m back with a smile on my face and I’ve got some proving to do that I should be in it,” he said.
“If you talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk. I’ve said that I should have been in it, now I need to prove why I should be in it.
“I’m looking forward to this. I’m really ready for this.”
Few will feel they are being written off more than Clayton, and as early as the eve of night one in Newcastle, the 2022 and 2023 semi-finalist got the impression that no one fancies his chances.
Clayton – the eighth and final player to address reporters at the Premier League’s media day – jokingly quipped that tournament organisers did not expect him to taste further success since the trophy was not present on the table for his interview, as was the case for the other seven participants.
The 51-year-old is also the huge outsider with bookmakers to win the event this year, although that is only adding fuel to the fire as far as ‘The Ferret’ is concerned.
“It motivates me alright because people don’t rate me, obviously they rate the others more. Let’s see on finals night,” he said.
Josh Rock, his opponent on night one, jokingly called Clayton the “old boy” and said he hoped the Pontyberem product would be “rusty”.
But Clayton is hoping his experience will prove beneficial against debutant Rock.
“To be fair, he’s a good lad, he’s full of fun, he’s confident and he’s a great player,” added Clayton.
“He’s bouncing, he’s ready to go. But I’ve had the experience so hopefully a little bit of experience will help me through.”
Clayton’s ‘hurt’ in 2025
Danny Noppert, James Wade and Nathan Aspinall are among those who were left downhearted to be omitted from this year’s event – the type of crushing disappointment Clayton himself felt in 2024 and 2025.
It perhaps goes some way to explaining why the former Grand Prix, Masters, World Series and two-time World Cup of Darts champion is intent on grabbing his chance to impress on the grandest stages again with both hands.
“I’m not going to lie, I thought I had a good chance of being in it last year. I’m obviously disappointed that I wasn’t,” Clayton said.
“The year before, I’ve got no complaints at all, but last year hurt a bit and I wanted to be back in it.
“I love this tournament. This is my favourite tournament of all and I wanted to be back in it. I’m back, and now I’ve got a point to prove.”
And on his plans to make a mockery of the odds, Clayton concluded: “I’m going [to finals night]. I’m going there to play, I’m not going to have to watch.”

Kun Khalifat’s NPFL Exit: Protest or Pure Unprofessionalism?
Kun Khalifat FC’s withdrawal from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is not justified. It is unprofessional and damaging to the image of Nigerian football.
Before judging the situation, it is important to understand the background of the dispute.
Background to the Dispute
In an official statement dated February 3, 2026, the owner of Kun Khalifat FC announced the club’s immediate withdrawal from the NPFL. He said the decision was taken with “great disappointment and frustration” after the league punished the club for failing to honour their Matchday 24 fixture against El Kanemi Warriors.
According to the NPFL, Kun Khalifat FC breached the league’s Framework and Rules by not showing up for the match, which was scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026. As punishment, the league awarded El Kanemi Warriors three points and three goals. Kun Khalifat were also fined ₦10 million, although the fine was suspended for the rest of the season on the condition that no similar offence occurs. The club was given 48 hours to appeal the decision.
Reacting to the sanctions, the club owner described them as “outrageous and disproportionate”. He claimed the club had valid reasons for missing the match and insisted these reasons were ignored by the league.
In the statement, Kun Khalifat accused the NPFL of bias, lack of transparency and putting revenue above the welfare of clubs. The club said it could no longer continue in a system that, in its view, focuses on punishment rather than fairness. The statement also called on other clubs to demand reforms within the league, while thanking fans, players and stakeholders for their support.
Why Kun Khalifat’s Action Is Wrong
Despite these claims, Kun Khalifat FC’s withdrawal from the NPFL cannot be defended.
A football club does not have the right to ask a league body to change fixtures because of financial problems. Kun Khalifat requesting match postponements and even suggesting new dates because they claimed they lacked funds is not professional. That is not how organised football works.
In Europe, the rules are clear and strict. When a club is found to be struggling financially, punishment follows. There is no pity and no special treatment.
Rangers were demoted to the fourth division in Scotland in 2012 after serious financial problems. Parma were declared bankrupt in 2015 and dropped to Serie D in Italy. Malaga were banned from European competition because they could not meet financial requirements. These clubs were not begged to stay. They faced the consequences of financial failure.
That is how serious leagues protect their standards.
Nigerian leagues must also be firm. Clubs must meet all licensing and financial requirements or be removed. If this is not enforced, we will continue to embarrass ourselves with crises like the Kun Khalifat situation.
Kun Khalifat FC is wrong to demand sympathy. Football is a business before it is passion. If a club does not have money, the result is demotion, not emotional appeals. A club that cannot fund travel cannot be trusted to consistently pay players, officials and staff.
Clubs must operate only at levels their finances can sustain. Anything else is irresponsible.
Failure to honour a fixture always has consequences. In this case, the NPFL applied its rules by awarding three points, three goals and issuing a fine.
Instead of accepting responsibility and using the appeal process, Kun Khalifat chose to walk away and say “ha gbachala”.
This is not injustice. This is regulation.
If Nigerian football wants respect, rules must be applied without emotion. Clubs must be ready before entering the league. If not, they should remain where their finances can carry them.
So the real question remains simple.
Are we ready to run Nigerian football professionally, or will we continue to manage it with pity?

Clayton Douglas Targets 2026 Group 1s after Top Reward’s Return in Autumn Stakes
With Top Reward, trainer Clayton Douglas nurtures Group 1 dreams for the 2026 autumn series, starting the colt’s campaign in a Stakes race at Caulfield.
The son of Shamus Award resumes in Saturday’s Group 2 Autumn Stakes (1400m), having had two spring appearances before a rest period.
Top Reward claimed his maiden win at 1500m on debut at Mornington in October, then tackled Stakes company, running third—six lengths off the winner Sheza Alibi—in November’s Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield.
Tuesday saw Douglas join Top Reward and stablemate Mr Waterville for a gallop at Caulfield to gear up for the colt’s return this Saturday.
Douglas envisions the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) in Randwick during April for Top Reward, via the 1800m Group 2 Autumn Classic at Caulfield on February 21 after his opening run.
“He’s a lovely colt. He’s got a lovely brain about him and he’s got nice ability,” Douglas said.
“It was good to get those couple of runs into him in the spring and he’s come back a more furnished colt now.
“We’ll probably look to step him up to 1800 metres second-up, which may be better for him, but he’s a lovely, clean-winded horse and I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes first-up.
“He could be a Derby colt, but we’ll take each run as it comes, but over the next eight to 12 weeks, there are plenty of options for him, but so long as he keeps stepping up to the mark, well keep putting it to him.”
Two jump-outs have preceded Top Reward’s return, with Douglas noting the 1400m on Saturday might suit less ideally.
“He’s got good gate speed, so I wouldn’t think he would be too far away,” Douglas said.
“But there might be something that’s a bit sharper than him on Saturday but going forward he might be a horse to look out for.”
Mr Waterville from the same stable is in contention for the 1600m benchmark 84 on Saturday, Friday’s Colac Cup (2000m), and the Listed Premier’s Plate (2006m) at Morphettville Saturday.
Yet to race for Douglas, the Irish-bred Mr Waterville was initially handled by Chris Waller in Australia.
“He trialled well here last week and to me he’s a horse that would prefer to kick off over 10 furlongs, that’s probably more suitable for him,” Douglas said.
As the hurdles season nears, Douglas pointed to potential over jumps for Mr Waterville.
Top Reward’s Autumn Stakes clash offers plenty of value in the racing betting markets, perfect for punters.

Lindsey Vonn’s coach, Stefon Diggs confident she can ski with ACL injury
[US, Mexico & Canada customers only] Feb 3, 2026; Cortina d’Ampezzo, ITALY; Lindsey Vonn attends a press conference at a press conference at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium in preparation for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Mandatory Credit: Leonhard Foeger/Reuters via Imagn Images Lindsey Vonn’s coach and New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs are confident that the American skiing great can compete at the Milano Cortina Olympics with a ruptured ACL in her left knee.
Vonn, 41, is set to try her luck in the women’s downhill race on Sunday
“I’m pretty confident that she can still pull off this dream,” Vonn’s head coach Chris Knight told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “I’ve got no doubts in my mind that this is going to be OK.”
Knight’s comments came one day after Vonn said that she’s not interested in discussing surgery at the moment.
“It’s not really on my radar screen right now. The Olympics are the only thing that I’m thinking about,” she said. “Every day my knee’s gotten better. And every day we’re discussing with a full medical team, doctors, physios, everyone, to make sure we’re doing everything to make sure I am making smart and safe decisions.”
Diggs knows a thing or two about a torn ACL. His lone season with the Houston Texans in 2024 was cut short by the same injury.
“Prayers to her. I hope the surgery does go well when she does have it,” Diggs said Wednesday of Vonn. “Anybody who has torn an ACL, it’s kind of a weird injury. You can run after about two weeks when the swelling goes down. … As long as she doesn’t have to (decelerate), she should be fine.”
Like Vonn, Diggs has a big day ahead on Sunday. Diggs and the Patriots will face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, Calif. As for Vonn, she must complete at least one official training run to take part in the Sunday downhill. Vonn is no stranger to the mountain. She collected 12 of her 84 World Cup victories there, the most of any skier.
Vonn earned gold (downhill) and bronze (Super-G) medals at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and a bronze medal in the downhill at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.
Vonn retired after the 2019 world championships due to injuries. She subsequently received a partial replacement of her right knee and launched a comeback late in 2024 with the Olympics in her sights.
She has won the downhill twice this winter and leads the World Cup standings in the discipline and was considered a favorite to win the gold medal in the event in Italy. –Field Level Media

After the game, the players were having a light moment in the dressing room. Arshdeep Singh, in his usual element, came up with a hilarious poetry.
“Humne usse itna dekha, jitna dekha jaa sakta tha. Aur bhala in do ankhon se kitna dekha ja sakta tha (We saw him/her as much as could be seen. And really, how much more could be seen with these two eyes?),” he said.
Abhishek Sharma showed Arshdeep his hand and jokingly asked him to leave right away. The pacer also got all-rounder Axar Patel into the conversation, who burst into laughter upon hearing his poetry.
Watch the video of the moment below –

With the ball, India restricted South Africa to 210/7. Arshdeep returned figures of 1/29 from four overs.
Abhishek Sharma will be key to India’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign
Abhishek Sharma will have a massive role to play in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. The opener has been in sensational form. He had a magnificent 2025, scoring 859 runs from 21 T20Is at an average of 42.95 and a strike rate of 193.46 with a century and five half-centuries.
In the five-match T20I series against New Zealand this year as well, he made 182 runs at an average of 45.50 at a strike rate of 249.31 with two half-centuries.
The left-hander has been consistent at the top, while maintaining an attacking approach. He has been instrumental in providing India with blazing starts more often than not. The Men in Blue will expect him to continue his fireworks at the T20 World Cup as well.

The real torch-bearers of Kashmir: Snow Leopards prepare for IFL in sub-zero conditions | Football News
NEW DELHI: Few clubs in Indian football have risen as swiftly or as symbolically as Real Kashmir FC. From their debut season to becoming consistent contenders in the Indian Football League (IFL), the Srinagar-based club has carved out a reputation for resilience and ambition. Yet, as the upcoming I-League season prepares to kick off on Feb 21, the Snow Leopards find themselves navigating a familiar terrain of uncertainty both on and off the pitch.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Real Kashmir, back-to-back IFA Shield winners (2020 and 2021), have finished among the top five six times in I-League in the seven seasons they have competed. However, the postponement of the season has created significant logistical and financial challenges, not just for Real Kashmir but for clubs across the league.Club owner Arshad Shawl, who took over as part of the leadership group in 2019, candidly said that the turmoil is the result of a system that leaned too heavily on a single private entity for over a decade.“You have to understand the ecosystem of Indian football over the last 15 years,” Shawl told TOI. “When that private support was pulled out, there was no contingency plan in place.”With the All India Football Federation (AIFF) under financial strain, I-League clubs have been forced to absorb much of the operational burden themselves. For Real Kashmir, the challenge is compounded by geography and climate. Pre-season preparations in sub-zero temperatures, coupled with an an uncertain calendar, have made the task even tougher.“Starting this season is like starting a frozen engine in minus temperatures and asking it to run a rally,” Shawl added.Despite the obstacles, the club’s philosophy stays firmly rooted in local identity. Real Kashmir have consistently prioritised Kashmiri players and home grown talent, a vision reflected in the appointment of former India international and Kashmir native Ishfaq Ahmed as head coach. Under his guidance, the club has become a platform for local footballers to dream bigger. “This club has put Kashmir on the front pages for a happier reason,” Shawl said. “It allowed the world to look at Kashmir through the lens of football.”Beyond the first team, Real Kashmir has invested in a structured youth development, blending local prospects with experienced Indian and overseas players. A capable backroom staff supports the squad.”What continues to hold the club back, Shawl insists, is beyond its control. “We are doing everything that we can control,” he said, pointing to ownership stability, player commitment, and grass roots development.
