Paris Saint-Germain dominated 65 per cent of possession against Arsenal.

Erling Haaland passed another Champions League milestone – as he left Sergio Aguero trailing in his rear view mirror.

The Norwegian forward latched onto a lovely through ball from Rico Lewis and finished with the minimum of fuss just before the hour.

That was a 42nd goal in just 41 appearances in a competition that the £51.4million buy admits he loves playing in.

That takes him past City’s all-time leading scorer Aguero’s tally in Uefa’s most presitigious tournament – and don’t forget Haaland is still only 24.

He was subbed a few minutes later and might have felt slightly annoyed with Pep Guardiola – as there were more goals in this one for him.

This was little more than a training exercise for the English champs against the Slovakian rookies – and the only surprise was they only scored four.

But after a draw in their first European game against Inter Milan two weeks ago, they are well and truly up and running now.

Slovan had played eight games just to reach the league stage of the competition – and on their opening night a fortnight ago they were thumped 5-1 by Celtic in Glasgow.

Yet they were thrilled to be welcoming the 2022/3 winners and all the star names to their home and were determined to enjoy the night.

Arsene Wenger used to moan until the cows came home about the impossibility of competing with state-owned oil-rich clubs.

Mikel Arteta simply gets on with it – and with increasingly impressive levels of success.

Having given Abu Dhabi’s Manchester City a serious fright in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad nine days ago, here were the Arsenal strolling to victory against the pride of Qatar, Paris Saint-Germain.

It helped that PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma went a long way to gifting first-half goals to Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.

But Arteta’s side – unbeaten in four against Pep Guardiola’s City by the way – are looking increasingly comfortable back on the Champions League stage which they vacated during Wenger’s latter years.

This was a battle between arguably the two most famous European clubs never to have ruled the continent – and on this evidence, Arsenal look far closer than the French champions to finally lifting Old Big Ears.

Young Boys thought they got a consolation goal at the Olympic Stadium against Barcelona.

Joel Monteiro hit the back of the net but VAR ruled it out in the first minute of stoppage time.

MANCHESTER UNITED ace Rasmus Hojlund was dubbed “rubbish” and “poor” by ex-England goalkeeper Ben Foster after breaking a team-mate’s tooth during training.

The incident took place last summer before Euro 2024 when Hojlund, 21, linked up with Denmark to prepare for the tournament in Germany.

The Danish national team organised an “optional” set-piece training that would see them working on corner-kicks with Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, 24, between the sticks.

A cross was whipped in from the corner and Hermansen was set to pick the ball up in the air.

However, Hojlund got a little overzealous as he went for the ball with full force and accidentally elbowed the keeper in the mouth.

That led to the Leicester ace losing a tooth just before the European Championship.

Hermansen discussed the incident in Foster’s Fozcast podcast: “You know as a goalkeeper sometimes when you have set-piece practice. It’s like, ‘Are we going 100 per cent? Are we just a bit easy?’

“So we were with the national team just before the Euros, it was optional training, you could come in and train if you want.

“So let’s do some corners. I go: ‘Keepers!’ And he just comes in with everything, elbow straight to my tooth.”

Foster, 41, was not at all impressed with Hojlund after hearing the story and didn’t hold back on his assessment as he insisted the striker should have “taken it easy” considering it was just a training session.

The ex-United goalkeeper responded: “Cheers Rasmus, appreciate that. That’s rubbish that. I’m not having that, it’s poor.

“When you’re doing it in a bit of practice set-piece thing, you’ve got to take it easy. You can’t go full blooded like that.”

However, Hermansen defended Hojlund and insisted he is a real “professional”.

The Danish shot stopper replied: “He is that kind of guy and I love that about him.

Lance Stroll is the first person to admit his sense of style has come a long way since he joined the Formula 1 grid almost a decade ago. The 25-year-old Aston Martin Racing driver, whose resume includes three podiums from more than 160 race starts, was a self-confessed “sweatpants and t-shirt guy” in the early years of his career. 

Although he’s still a fan of relaxed silhouettes and laid-back ensembles, it’s clear he’s taken some cues from his dad, fashion mogul turned F1 team owner, Lawrence Stroll. “I’ve always been around good taste in fashion,” Lance told Motorsport at BOSS’ Austin store ahead of the US Grand Prix. “I’ve been taught to have an eye for what looks good.”

Lawrence made his billions working with the likes of Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors and Tommy Hilfiger, cementing his place in the fashion industry. “Maybe I’d attend down the line,” Lance said when asked whether he has any interest in the glitzy New York City soirée. “I’m thinking more about race cars right now,” he added. 

As for his on-track clothing, the Canadian revealed he has some long-held superstitions surrounding his boots, gloves and even underwear. 

“You’re going to be pretty grossed out, but I try to drag [my racing boots] out for a whole season,” he said.

“They get more comfortable over time as they’re broken-in but there’s an element of superstition in there, too. If you have a good race during the season you kind of want to hang onto the boots and the gloves,” he said.

“I had lucky underwear for a bit, but that’s when I was eight years old and then I got to 13 or 14 and they started getting tight so I had to give up that superstition.”
