The Apprentice’s Tom Pellereau reveals secret to 13-year partnership with Lord Sugar after BBC star ditched 8 winners
THE Apprentice’s Tom Pellereau has revealed the secret to his 13-year partnership with Lord Sugar – after the BBC star ditched at least eight other winners.
Tom, 45, was the first candidate to secure a £250,000 investment prize from Lord Sugar – rather than a job at one of his companies – when he won in 2011.
It was money well spent, as Tom has gone on to build a multi-million pound business and a hugely successful Stylideas brand.
Last month, Tom launched seven new products and Lord Sugar was there to support him in person.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online afterwards, Tom revealed all about his partnership with the 77-year-old business icon, and how it had managed to be one of the few to achieve longevity from the show.
He said: “So we have a board meeting at least every two months for a couple of hours.

“He loves products. I always have to take the latest items along.
“He loves touching them, feeling them, giving them a bit of feedback, and he especially likes the packaging stage and the beginning of the marketing stage.
“When he saw the latest packaging of the different ones, he was like, ‘These are really good. You know, this is really coming together nicely.’
“He does usually get very hands on with the products and trying them out.”
While Lord Sugar was impressed by Tom’s latest efforts, he isn’t afraid to be blunt when required.
He explained: “He has always put a lot of pressure on me to succeed.
He’s been like that kind of headmaster that just gives you a hard time.
“And people sort of say, ‘you know, he does quite like you’. And you’re like, ‘Oh, he’s got a very funny way of showing it’. But we’ve had some ups and some downs.”
Despite this, their partnership has endured much longer than many other winners of The Apprentice.
The Mirror revealed earlier this year – before the latest series – that only two of the last 10 winners were still in business with Lord Sugar.
They are boxing gym owner Marnie Swindells, who won last year, and 2013 winner Dr Leah Totton, who runs cosmetics clinics.
Meanwhile some of those who have ended their working relationship with Lord Sugar include 2022 winner Harpreet Kaur, 2016 winner Alana Spencer and joint 2017 winners Sarah Lynn and James White.
I think there was less synergy
Tom Pellereau
Discussing why he thinks he has bucked the trend, Tom said: “I think it’s really helped me that I do products, and that was his origin.
“You know, he started with car aerials, car stereos, then consumer electronics, so he really likes products and he has a lot to offer me in terms of helping with retailer dealings and with suppliers and that sort of thing.
“I think some of the other businesses, which were a bit different, I think maybe there was less synergy, so to speak.”
The Apprentice biggest moments
THE Apprentice has been a fan favourite ever since it burst onto the box in 2005.
Here we take a look at five of the biggest moments over the years on the hit BBC One show.
Tim Campbell – Former London Underground transport manager Tim Campbell won the first series of the reality show in 2005. He is now one of Lord Sugar’s aides on the show.
Sarah Lynn and James White – For the first and only time in the show’s history, both finalists were crowned winners in 2017.
Amy Anzel – Season 16’s fired candidate Amy Anzel was BANNED from the final celebration show, after a tit-for-tat exchange over Lord Sugar’s mocking tweets.
Michelle Dewberry – Telecoms consultant Michelle Dewberry won the second series of the show in 2006. However, after winning a six-figure job with Lord Sugar she lasted just four months before she sensationally quit.
Selena Waterman-Smith – We’re used to tensions running high in the boardroom, but in 2015 a disagreement between two candidates spilled over – for the first time – into a physical bust-up. Events manager Selina Waterman-Smith was given a verbal warning by show bosses for her role in an off-camera scrap with Charleine Wain.
Tom has also had to juggle growing his business with his personal life, which has changed a lot since he won The Apprentice.
He said: “It’s been hard work. I have had children. So I’ve had two children in that time and I wasn’t even married at the beginning.
“So life has been incredible for those 13 years.”
The Apprentice airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer. The Stylpro range is available here.

Nick Knowles makes shocking admission about his time on DIY SOS
DIY SOS host Nick Knowles has admitted he cannot assemble flat-pack furniture.
The 62-year-old Strictly star works with tradespeople to transform homes for deserving families on the BBC One show.
But he revealed his family “laugh at him” when he tries DIY.
However, dad-of-four Nick still reckons he could build his own house.
In an interview with The Times T2 supplement yesterday, Nick said: “My family laugh when I try to assemble flat-packs.
“I get frustrated because, like most men, I don’t read the instructions.”

“But I could build my own house — easily. One day I just might.”
Nick — who has been married twice and is now engaged to lingerie business owner Katie Dadzie, 34 — also revealed he has lost more than two stone since he began training for Strictly four weeks ago.
He said: “This is much tougher than rugby training.
“I can feel myself transforming from a very heavy bloke lumbering around the room to somebody who’s becoming lighter and more elegant on his feet.”
Meanwhile, Nick has been in hot water after he said women in the North East of England were “munters” in a sleazy chat with a young charity worker, it has been claimed.
The TV favourite allegedly made a string of lewd and offensive remarks to the woman and ogled her breasts while filming BBC show DIY SOS: The Big Build.
It left the 33-year-old support worker feeling embarrassed and mortified, she claimed.
The mum of one said she was interviewed by Knowles in 2018 for an episode of the show about a home renovation for a family with a young disabled child.
She claims he turned up late after boozing the night before — and later kipped in a van.
Knowles was said to have been hung over, looked worse for wear and stank of stale booze and cigarettes after partying at North Shields Fish Quay.
When the then 26-year-old dropped her microphone down her blouse, the star allegedly said: “It’s a shame that’s not a camera.”
The woman, who posed for a photo with the star, said he did not touch her or make a pass.
Knowles said he had encountered hundreds of people in the course of his work and cannot be expected to remember what he has said to everyone he has met.

NCIS star Pauley Perrette reveals why she will ‘never’ return to acting in rare interview
NCIS star Pauley Perrette has addressed her decision to retire from acting, explaining why fans will “never again” see her on screen.
Perrette, 55, who played the lovable and quirky forensic scientist Abby on the popular CBS police procedural since its 2003 premiere, left the series in 2018 and went into retirement.
Two years later, she briefly returned to front CBS’s short-lived 2020 sitcom Broke, which was canceled after just one season.
Soon after the comedy’s cancelation, Perrette tweeted: “I’m HAPPILY RETIRED! Finally! Woot! All I ever wanted.”
In a subsequent post, she clarified: “Actually I retired after NCIS but BROKE was important, beautiful. I did my last dance & am proud of it! Everyone that knows me knew I was retiring right after. I’m proud of my work. I love you guys! I AM FREE!!! (To be the tiny little simple human I am!).”
Speaking to Hello Magazine in a rare new interview, Perrette discussed why she has no plans of ever returning to the screen.
“I’m not ungrateful for the benefits that it gave to me,” she said of acting. “But I’m a different person now and I want to be here for it – the good and the bad and the painful. I want to be me all the time, and it takes a good amount of courage for me to say that to myself but it’s authentically how I feel.”
Perrette began acting in the Nineties. She landed her first screen credit in a single 1994 episode of ABC’s long-running drama After School Specials. She later made appearances in the Oscar-nominated 2000 comedy Almost Famous and the classic TV drama Dawson’s Creek before landing the role of Abby on NCIS.
For 15 years, she endeared herself to viewers as the goth-dressing, witty forensic scientist, starring alongside Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Sean Murray and the late David McCallum.

Following her departure, Perrette claimed on X that her exit was due in part to “multiple physical assaults” that occured on set. A CBS spokesperson shared a statement at the time, acknowledging that “over a year ago, Pauley came to us with a workplace concern. We took the matter seriously and worked with her to find a resolution. We are committed to a safe work environment on all our shows.”
NCIS Executive Producer Charles Floyd Johnson shed more light on the incident in an oral history published by The Hollywood Reporter last September.
“In Pauley Perrette’s case, there was an incident with the show with a dog. The dog was Harmon’s, and apparently the dog bit someone,” Johnson said. “Pauley was a huge, huge SPCA [Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals] animal person. And then the dog kept coming with Harmon, and she felt it wasn’t safe for the show. By the end of that year, she just felt like it wasn’t working for her anymore, and it was time to move on.”
Harmon, who led the series as special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, remained on the show three years beyond Perrette before exiting in 2021. However, he is still an executive producer for the NCIS franchise. NCIS will air its season 22 premiere on CBS on October 14.

New horror movie so shocking audience walked out of UK premiere in first ten minutes – and one was SICK in cinema
HORROR fans were left screaming and puking last night at the UK premiere of Terrifier 3.
Some ticket holders were so disgusted they bolted from their seats within the first ten minutes.
The brutal sequel, directed by Damien Leone, left some cinema goers traumatised and at least one vomited during the screening.
For people who can stomach the nightmarish third installment they’re in for a satisfying ride.
Rotten Tomatoes have the flick at 93% on their ‘tomatometer’.
“There were 11 total walkouts, nine during the opening scene, and that there was one fan confirmed to have puked,” according to LADbible.
Leone added in a statement to Bloody Disgusting: “Although I was in and out of the screening, I did manage to witness some crazy stuff.
“One woman got up and left in the middle of the shower massacre.
“Another woman left the screening and said she started having a panic attack during a scene involving kids where Art impersonates a mall Santa.”
After surviving Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre, Sienna and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives.
Leone previously promised Terrifier 3 would push the horror even further.
He said one scene was so disgusting when they filmed it that a cast member almost walked off set.
Leone wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Can honestly say we just filmed one of the most insanely horrific scenes of the Terrifier franchise and you’ll never believe who couldn’t handle it on set… the BTS is hilarious.
“Can’t wait for you all to see!”
Lead actor David Howard Thornton was the one who almost puked.
He plays the terrifying Art the Clown, and confirmed the gruesome attacks were tough to play out.
In response to a fan on social media, Thornton wrote: “I will just say that this is the kill that almost made me vom. That’s a first.”
Damien went on to show give examples of what fans can expect.
He said: “The past couple of weeks on the set of Terrifier 3 have been some of the most intense and taxing of my career!
“But seeing genuine smiles around the monitor & hearing numerous cast & crew members say they’ve gotten chills multiple times makes it all worthwhile. It’s a good one!”
Sick bags were provided to viewers who watched the second instalment at early screenings in 2022, and the director was forced to hit back at cliams it was a marketing stunt.
He said at the time: “To everyone saying that reports of people fainting and puking during screenings of Terrifier 2 is a marketing ploy, I swear on the success of the film it is NOT.
“These reports are 100% legit. I wish we were smart enough to think of that! But then again we didn’t need to.”
One movie goer verified his comments by sharing their experiences of the film.
They wrote: “The guy behind me passed out cold and crashed into my chair, another guy left because he didn’t feel good I overheard him say.
“And walking out of the theatre door I heard a guy puking hard and loud in the bathroom.”
Terrifier 3 launches in cinemas in the UK on October 11th.
