Sydney Sweeney says paparazzi refused to leave her house without bikini photos

Sydney Sweeney has spoken out about the harassment she receives from paparazzi, revealing photographers recently refused to leave her home while demanding she came outside in a bikini.

The 27-year-old actor is best known for her starring roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus and Anyone but You. But as her fame has skyrocketed, so too has the internet’s obsession with her body.

In a new interview with Glamour, Sweeney recounted an incident in which a group of photographers stood outside her Florida home, yelling at her family who were standing outside.

“They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then I’ll leave you alone,’” she said.

Sweeney further addressed online rumors that she calls the paparazzi on herself.

“Why would I call the paparazzi to take pictures of me at my own house when my baby cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard? Why would I ever want that?” she asked incredulously.

“I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean. They got there at 8am and wouldn’t leave until 4pm. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe.”

Sweeney explained that the publication of these private images pose a risk to her safety.

“When those photos go out, then my actual safety is at risk,” she said. “Everyone knows where I am. Now there’s boats that go by, and I literally hear them say, ‘This is Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”

Earlier this year, the Immaculate actor clapped back at lewd comments about her physical appearance.

Sweeney’s post came shortly after veteran Hollywood producer Carol Baum criticized her looks and her acting ability while at an event in Pleasantville, New York.

“There’s an actress who everybody loves now: Sydney Sweeney. I don’t get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney’s movie [Anyone but You] because I wanted to watch it,” she told the crowd.

“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’ Nobody had an answer.”

Sweeney later issued a fiery response through her representative, saying: “How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman.

“If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms Baum’s character.”

Strictly judge Shirley Ballas reacts to outcome of Giovanni Pernice investigation

Strictly judge Shirley Ballas reacts to outcome of Giovanni Pernice investigation

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has shared her thoughts on the outcome of a BBC investigation into the conduct of Giovanni Pernice.

The Italian dancer was subject to scrutiny after Sherlock star Amanda Abbington accused him of being abusive to her during rehearsals. Abbington quit the show early and revealed she had endured PTSD as a result of the experience.

Results of a BBC investigation into Pernice’s behaviour were released on Monday (30 September). The dancer was cleared of the more serious allegations against him, but Abbington’s complaints of verbal bullying and harassment were upheld. The corporation issued an apology to the actor following the outcome.

Commenting on the news at an event at Henley Literary Festival on Tuesday (1 October), Ballas said, “I don’t condone bullying. I’ve been through it myself.

“So if things aren’t right or need addressing, I feel for the person that wants them addressed. And I think that’s a big, important part that everybody gets to say their thing. But now the investigation is over and everybody can move on.”

While promoting her new crime novel, Dance to the Death, which is set in the world of ballroom dancing, she added: “The eight years I’ve been on the show, it’s been great safeguarding. I’ve always felt taken care of when the bullying got really bad.”

Ballas was one of the most prominent figures to defend Pernice during the controversy, calling him a “perfect gentleman”.

“I don’t believe gossip because things are blown way out of all proportion and it can turn into a great big snowball,” she told The Sun in June. “So my feeling for Giovanni is, let them do this investigation and the truth will come out. So we don’t judge anybody until I know absolutely, 100 percent.”

Pernice spoke candidly about the result on Instagram, telling his fans: “It’s over. It’s finished. Seven months of reading everyday things in the newspaper and not be able to respond because I wanted to keep the confidentiality and privacy of the review was a difficult time. It was difficult because, you know, reading stuff that was untrue, wasn’t the nicest time of my life, let’s be honest.”

Meanwhile, Abbington said that although the BBC’s apology had “meant a lot to her”, she is considering further legal action following the outcome.

Fans left shocked at Lady Gaga's screen time in Joker sequel despite second billing behind Joaquin Phoenix

LADY Gaga is on screen for only 33 minutes of the new Joker movie — despite getting second billing.

The Poker Face singer’s role was heavily hyped in promotional advertising.

Early reviews of the film, out in cinemas today, criticise Lady Gaga's lack of screen time — calling her 'criminally underused'

But the 38-year-old star, who plays Harleen “Lee” Quinzel, actually appears in less than a quarter of Joker: Folie à Deux’s 139 minutes.

Early reviews of the film, out in cinemas today, criticise her lack of screen time — calling her “criminally underused”.

It is a sequel to 2019 hit Joker, which won two Oscars, including Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix, 49, in the title role.

The follow-up, which is part musical, sees Gaga play the love interest of Arthur Fleck/Joker while both are in prison.

Both Gaga and Phoenix perform cover songs during the production.

Last week she released an album called Harlequin featuring their songs. It is being described as a “companion” to the film.

Gaga, however, would love to return to play the role — despite her limited screen time.

She told The Hits Radio Breakfast Show: “I definitely don’t feel done with Lee as a character.

“She’s got so much to say. What an interesting gal.”

don’t wanna talk right now
I just wanna watch TV
I’ll stay in the pool and drown
So I don’t have to watch you leave
I put on Survivor just to watch somebody suffer
Maybe I should get some sleep
Sinking in the sofa while they all betray each other
What’s the point of anything?
All of my friends are missing again
That’s what happens when you fall in love
You don’t have the time, you leave them all behind
You tell yourself it’s fine, you’re just in love
Don’t know where you are right now
Did you see me on TV?
I’ll try not to starve myself
Just because you’re mad at me
And I’ll be in denial for at least a little while
What about the plans we made?
The internet’s gone wild watching movie stars on trial
While they’re overturning Roe v. Wade
Now all of my friends are missing again
‘Cause that’s what happens when you fall in love
You don’t have the time, you leave them all behind
And you tell yourself it’s fine, you’re just in love
And I don’t get along with anyone
Maybe I’m the problem
Maybe I’m the problem

Sons of Anarchy creator exits new Netflix series with just weeks left of filming

Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has exited his new Netflix series just weeks before production was scheduled to wrap.

Filming on the forthcoming Western series, appropriately titled The Abandons, began in May in Alberta, Canada, and is scheduled to conclude in mid-October.

Variety reports that Sutter’s premature exit came due to creative differences with Netflix. The publication reports that various changes to the series were made by Netflix, such as the number of episodes being reduced from 10 to eight, after the production went over budget.

Netflix declined to comment. The Independent has contacted Sutter’s representatives.

Starring Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey as two mothers in a bloody feud, The Abandons was originally greenlit by Netflix in October 2022.

An official logline for the show reads: “As a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, ‘justice’ is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law.”

The show was created by Sutter, 64, who also served as executive producer and showrunner.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum in May about the creation of the show, he said: “I am fascinated by the metamorphosis of good into evil.

“What must transpire to drive the morally sound to become the dangerously corrupt. The Abandons explores those complex compromises through the most powerful human instinct – the love and protection of mothers.”

This isn’t the first time Sutter has abruptly departed a project. Back in 2019, Sutter was fired from his FX drama Mayans MC after parent company Disney’s human resources department compiled a number of complaints from the cast and crew.

Sutter later addressed his firing in a letter obtained by Deadline, writing: “They claim the intel suggests that I created a climate of hostility, favoritism and enabled a set where no one felt safe or appreciated.”

Denying these claims, he continued: “I know that’s not true. I’m not saying it was all sunshine and roses, but I’m close with most of those guys and they love going to work. I’m also not sure how, having been on set… maybe three times all season, I was able to singularly create that much damage.

“What I do own, what I see now in hindsight, is that detaching myself so much this season was a mistake. I understand how it was perceived as me sticking my head in the sand. And that people felt like no one was steering the ship,” Sutter added.

“But that wasn’t a management error on my part, it was a creative decision to empower [co-creator] Elgin [James] and the future of the show.”
