Andrew Fischer, the top draft pick for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2025, belted a two-run home run for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on May 1 in Grand Chute, capping a three-run 10th inning and giving the Brewers’ Advanced Class A affiliate a walk-off victory.

A man has been given a football banning order for three years after becoming the first person charged with tailgating at a match, police have confirmed.

Benjamin Bailey, 27, from Oldham, Greater Manchester, admitted entering the Carabao Cup final at Wembley without a ticket.

Tailgating, which involves fans gaining entry to stadium turnstiles by walking closely behind ticket holders, became a criminal offence ahead of the recent final.

This measure was introduced five years after thousands of ticketless fans stormed the same stadium during the Euro 2020 final.

Mr Bailey was arrested at the Manchester City versus Arsenal final on March 22 and subsequently charged. He pleaded guilty to the offence at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday. The court imposed a three-year football banning order and a fine of £230, as confirmed by HM Courts & Tribunals Service.

Offenders across England and Wales convicted of tailgating face potential football banning orders of up to five years and fines reaching £1,000.

The legislation was introduced following serious disorder when England played Italy in the Euro 2020 final.

Lives were put at risk when supporters broke into Wembley Stadium, a subsequent review by Baroness Louise Casey found.

There were previously no specific legal penalties for attending a football game without a ticket.

The Unauthorised Entry to Football Matches Act also makes it illegal to knowingly try to enter a match with forged tickets, passes and accreditation documents, as well as by pretending to be a member of stadium or playing staff.

It follows an independent review of the Uefa European Championship final held at Wembley in north London on July 11 2021.

Baroness Casey identified more than 20 “near misses” that could have resulted in serious injury or death as a result of ticketless individuals trying to gain entry, and in some cases succeeding, for the England v Italy match.

Around 100,000 people travelled to Wembley for the final “of which approximately 2,000 gained entry to the stadium without tickets”, with 17 mass breaches of the gates in the 90 minutes before kick-off until the penalty shootout.

Ryan Garcia is the latest big name to offer his thoughts on Saturday’s clash between David Benavidez and Gilberto Ramirez.

One of the biggest fights of the year so far takes place at the at the T-Mobile Arena this weekend as ‘The Mexican Monster’ heads up to cruiserweight to challenge Ramirez for his WBA and WBO titles.

Benavidez is the reigning WBC light heavyweight champion, and now attempts to earn world honours in a third division having also previously reigned at super-middleweight.

It will be a difficult task against Ramirez though, who has won 48 of his 49 professional bouts, with his only blemish coming against Dmitry Bivol back in 2022.

With the fight quickly approaching, WBC welterweight champion Garcia has made his prediction for the match-up, posting on social media to reveal that he is backing Benavidez to win inside the distance.

Benavidez has displayed big power throughout his career, as 25 of his 31 wins have come by knockout, the most recent of those occurring during his last outing in November when he stopped Anthony Yarde in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Competing at 200lbs could be a whole different prospect though, and with Ramirez having won all of his cruiserweight bouts in fairly convincing fashion, it would be a big statement if ‘The Mexican Monster’ is indeed able to claim a stoppage victory.

One man who doesn’t think Benavidez will be capable of achieving that is Oscar De La Hoya, who has questioned the challenger’s chin ahead of the bout.

Daniel Farke is not yet ready to celebrate Premier League safety after his side’s 3-1 home win against already-relegated Burnley lifted them nine points clear of the bottom three.

Anton Stach’s superb early opener and second-half efforts from Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin lifted Leeds up to 14th place on 43 points and despite Loum Tchaouna’s consolation for Burnley, Farke’s side extended their unbeaten league run to six matches.

Farke said: “We will just celebrate once it’s mathematically done, 43 points is good but I don’t want to stop on 43 points.

“I’m just proud of my players and have to give them so many compliments because to live in such a pressure period and deliver in your last four Premier League games 10 points, and six (games) unbeaten,” Farke added.

Burnley’s relegation was confirmed after last week’s 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City and they parted company with manager Scott Parker by mutual consent on Thursday.

Burnley’s interim manager Mike Jackson said he had not given any thought to putting himself in contention to replace Parker permanently.

Jackson said: “I’m not trying to be disrespectful to you. It’s just something that hasn’t even been been mentioned.

“I was literally told on (Thursday) morning, to try and prep a team to come to Leeds and that’s been my sole focus.”

Burnley slipped to a fifth straight league defeat and have won only one of their last 25 in the top flight.

“I knew this game could probably go one or two ways with what’s happened in the last 24 hours,” Jackson added.

“It’s been a big shock to the group, in terms of Scott leaving and the relationship he had with the players, and I think it knocked them a bit.

“I think the big thing for me with Scott leaving is he was a really close friend and a guy who handled himself unbelievably throughout the year.

“His dignity and the way he has handled himself, I’ve got full admiration for that.”

A defining trend of the Indian Premier League 2026 season has been the emergence of young batters leading the scoring charge for their teams.
