Over two million people have seen the video of the young boys from Falkirk singing Last Christmas.

A group of five lads from Falkirk became an internet sensation last week after a doorbell video captured them singing Christmas carols. Today, the boys took to the This Morning sofa to talk about their experience – with one saying he spent the fiver he earned on a “festive chicken nugget” from MacDonald’s.

Scots across the country are calling for Jack Campbell, Dylan Thompson, Cameron Bourne, Liam Phillips, and Ollie Shearer to become ‘Scotland’s Christmas Advert’ this year as they got the nation into the festive spirit after being caught on camera singing to Wham’s Last Christmas.

What was meant to be a regular hang out on a Saturday night turned into a clip that has been seen by over two million people. The five school boys can be seen belting out the festive tune, with Dylan finishing the rendition saying: “Bye, love you.”

Talking on STV’s This Morning, the boys revealed that they had never been carol singing before, but 11-year-old Cameron managed to convince the boys to take part. He said: “My pal Jack, he wanted to go in, and I was like, let’s go make folk happy and do something. So I kinda pressured him into do it.”

He jokingly added: “Now we have done it and it is probably the best thing of his life.” Once he had the group involved, the boys said they went to go to about seven or eight houses singing Last Christmas, which they chose as it was the “best well-known” song to sing.

Completely “winging” the whole thing, the boys shared that they are happy about the reception they rceived after their neighbour posted the video on social media. However, they did add that their pals are “jealous” of what they have done.

While enjoying missing out on subjects like maths and French, hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard asked if the boys had been given any money after the clip, and what they had spent the money on.

While Cameron shared that he got a fiver for the carol singing, Dylan added that he spent his money on a “festive chicken nugget” from MacDonald’s.

The owner of the home and the Ring doorbell, Erin Chalmers, also joined the show through a phone call. When asked what she first thought when she saw the group of boys on their bikes ringing the bell, she said: “At first it was, ‘Oh, they’re going to take my plant off my doorstep or something bad.’

“But when I sat and watched it, it just made my whole year. And look what’s happened off the back of it – it is amazing.”

She explained that she first posted the video on her Instagram to see if anyone knew the kids so they could come back to see them sing properly.

Once she didn’t get a response, Erin posted the video on TikTok to show there are “good kids”. However, after her shift at work she opened her phone to over 80,000 notifications from the app.

Ben also noted that carol singing doesn’t happen as much as it used to, with Erin adding she hasn’t had any other groups coming to sing at this time of year.

She added: “None and I think it is just this day and age people don’t go to strangers’ doors and they should because look what’s happened off this back of this, it’s amazing.”

When asked if they were going to take part in any more carol singing this year, the boys weren’t as sure, saying they might do something on Christmas Eve.

The boys hope they will be able to make it a bit “bigger and more enjoyable” by expanding their songs – as they only know Last Christmas and Jingle Bells – as well as wearing some Christmas hats and jumpers.
