Big Brother lineup 2024: Meet all of this year’s contestants
Get ready for big personalities, diary room gossip and blazing rows –Big Brother is back for a second series on ITV2, with presenters Will Best and AJ Odudu returning to host.
The show initially made a comeback to screens for a reboot in 2023, having previously been cancelled by Channel 4 in 2010 and Channel 5 in 2018.
During the live launch tonight (6 October), Best and Odudu will introduce a new group of 16 housemates in front of a studio audience.
This year’s housemates will be hoping to replicate the success of Jordan, the 26-year-old lawyer who walked away with the £100,000 cash prize in 2023.
Jordan, from Scunthorpe, had gone down a treat with fans for his deadpan humour. When he won, he simply declared: “I need a drink.”
Meet all the new housemates, as they’re announced, below…
Rosie
Rosie, 29, is a dental assistant from Cornwall/Essex. She said she reckons she’ll be a “supportive person” in the house, and is most likely to be nominated for coming across as “quite chaotic” and “being the most annoying”. In terms of what she’d do with the prize money, Rosie said: “I have a few friends that I’d love to pay for them to have IVF treatment. I would also like to help people with mental health issues. I like helping people anyway but if I had money I’d be in a better position to do that. I’d also love to help dog charities – I love dogs!”
Emma
Aesthetics business owner Emma is 53 and from Altrincham/Essex. She can’t decide whether she’s going to bring “peace” or “drama” to the house. Emma said she’s most likely to get nominated if people don’t get her humour and think she’s too “abrupt”. Her plans for the prize money are to give some to her kids, some to her 82-year-old dad, and rent a big villa for a lovely holiday with her “nearest and dearest”.
Segun
Segun, 25, is from Watford. He works as a charity videographer and says he is most likely to get nominated for “laughing in situations that aren’t funny”. He said: “I laugh in situations that are quite serious and people might feel disrespected. I do it just to bring some levity to situations, but I do laugh at inappropriate times.” In terms of what he’d do with the cash if he won, Segun said he’d help her mum fund the renovation of her house and donate some money to Cancer Research UK, where he’s worked.

SNL delivers part two of ‘Washington’s Dream’ which fans hailed as show’s ‘best skit in years’
Saturday Night Live delighted fans by delivering part two of Washington’s Dream sketch, which was hailed last year as the show’s “best skit in years.”
Nate Bargatze reprised his role as George Washington to share more of his hopes and dreams for the country with his Revolutionary War soldiers Kenan Thompson, Mikey Day, Bowen Yang, and James Austin Johnson.
The sketch mocks the peculiarities of the American–English language. As his men question whether they will win the battle, Bargatze’s Washington tells them: “We will live through the battle ahead because we fight to control our own destiny, to create our own nation…and to do our own thing with the English language.”
“I dream, that one day our great nation will have a word for the number 12,” he continues. “We shall call it a dozen.”
“And what other numbers will we have a word for?” asks Yang.
“None,” Bargatze replies, completely deadpan. “Only 12 shall have its own word because we are free men, and we will be free to spell some words two different ways.”
Day then asks: “Which words, sir?”
“Donut,” Bargatze replies. He adds: “We will also have two names for animals, one when they are alive and a different one for when they become food. Cows will be beef, pigs will be pork.”
Yang asks: “Chickens, Sir?”
“That one stays,” Bargatze says. “Chickens are chicken.”
Fans welcomed the second installment of the skit on social media. “I honestly didn’t think they could pull this off again but so happy to be proven wrong,” one said on X.
Another, taking aim at how the latest Joker: Folie à Deux film has been widely reviewed as a flop, said: “This is how you make a sequel Todd Phillips.”
“I needed this this morning. Very clever & so true,” someone else said.
It follows last year’s hilarious skit where Washington outlined his dream for a country with its own “system of weights and measures.”

The scene was a takedown of American measurements and other peculiarities, including lines like: “We are free men! And we will be free to measure liquids in litres and milliliters… but not all liquids, only soda, wine and alcohol. For milk and paint we will use gallons, pints and quarts, god-willing.”
Asked by one of his soldiers (Day) how many liters are in a gallon, he replies simply: “Nobody knows.”
Last night’s SNL also poked fun at the vice presidential debate between JD Vance (Bowen Yang) and Tim Walz (Jim Gaffigan).
Kamala Harris (Maya Rudolph) and Doug Emhoff (Andy Samberg) watched on as the pair stared into each other’s eyes and found “common ground”, prompting Rudolph to spit out wine and exclaim: “Why are they vibing?”

‘They’re gonna get married!’ say Strictly fans as Jamie Borthwick admits to ‘cosy night’ with partner Michelle Tsiakkas
STRICTLY Come Dancing fans think that a ‘marriage’ might potentially soon be on the cards.
EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick was given the good news that he would be dancing for another week in the BBC competition.
However, when reflecting on the results in the sofa area with Claudia Winkleman, he appeared to make a surprise confession.
The Traitors host asked him about his impressions of the star judges after Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood got in a row.
He tried to tell the story about how his comic impersonation came about, saying that it was while he had a ‘cosy’ night with his partner Michelle Tsiakkas.
“We had a delirious night the other night when we were just laying there,” he explained on Strictly Come Dancing.
Eyebrows all around the studio were raised as he then appeared to stumble as he tried to further give an explanation to his comments.
This was as a confused looking Claudia seemed to be completely surprised and taken aback.
Jamie continued: “On the rehearsal floor.”
More gasps could be heard from the audience as they reacted with a mixture of both suspicion and encouragement.
Comments such as “oh was that it?” and “spill the beans,” appeared to be uttered by their surrounding fellow co-stars.
The Traitors presenter clearly wanted to know more as she exclaimed: “Week three Jamie! Delirious night, snuggled up, please continue.”
He replied back: “So we were getting cosy in a snuggle, anyways, she said some of the rumba comments.
“She was like, there were some cucarachas with the two flat feet and roll your hips in a figure eight. I saw that!”
“And that pleased me to no end,” he cheekily said before turning to Claudia, adding: “It was one where you needed to be there.”
Some viewers immediately got excited as they took to X – formerly known as Twitter.
Strictly Curse – The Lowdown
STRICTLY Come Dancing’s latest series has already been hit by rumours of a BBC show ‘curse’ – yet what is it?
A host of Strictly Come Dancing stars have been struck by the Strictly Curse during the past two decades.
This is where celebrities who may or may not be attached in the outside world become more than friends with their professional partners.
A total of 20 relationships are said to have been impacted so far over the show’s 20 years.
It has seen relationships crumble with dance floor romances and punishing rehearsal schedules to blame.
This includes the partnerships of Louise and Jamie Redknapp as well as Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer.
Controversially, Judge Craig Revel Horwood once said of the curse: “I think of it as a blessing, to be honest. One person is married, the other one had a girlfriend but my point in this entire thing is: if you come on Strictly, sometimes you are in a relationship that is not working anyway.
“There has to be something wrong in your relationship before it all goes awry.”
Series one winner Brendan Cole left his fiancé, fellow Strictly professional Camilla Dallerup, during filming for the very first series in spring 2004.
Brendan was said to have fallen for his celebrity partner and inaugural winner Natasha Kaplinsky, although the duo didn’t confirm they were romantically involved.
One fan posted: “I predict Jamie and Michelle get married.”
But they may be disappointed as Michelle is happily in a relationship with another dancer, Simone Arena.
Jamie also previously admitted that he has no intention of pursuing anything romantic as he denied the rumours.
He explained to The Mirror: “The idea of that whole Strictly curse, well it’s definitely not going to be a thing here because it would be weird doing that with my sister.
“Michelle and I met before Strictly and we instantly had a connection. But she is like a sister, an aunt, a mum, a best friend. She’s looking after me, she’s mothering me.”
Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.

Strictly Come Dancing eliminates second celebrity contestant of the series
Strictly Come Dancing is now well underway, with the second contestant of the competition voted off after a brutal dance-off.
This week saw the celebrities perform a series of themed performances for Movie Week. Miranda comedian Sarah Hadland brought viewers to tears with a magical tribute to Dame Maggie Smith, in an ode to her role as Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter movies.
Meanwhile, TV medic Dr Punam Krishan made Strictly history with the show’s first ever Bollywood routine.
The scores at the top of the leaderboard remain extremely tight with just a point between them, but there were two performers who lagged behind.
Singer Toyah Willcox and former footballer Paul Merson found themselves in the bottom two after the public vote, having also received the lowest scores from the judges with 15 and 19, respectively.
During Sunday night’s (6 October) results show, both stars performed their Movie Week routines for a second time as part of a dance-off to determine who will stay in the competition.
Wilcox and her partner Neil Jones danced the Samba to “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from Little Mermaid, while Merson and Karen Hauer performed the Cha Cha to “The Magnificent Seven” from 1960’s The Magnificent Seven.
After their dances were complete, the judges delivered their verdict, resulting in a unanimous decision to save Merson and Hauer.
Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke all chose to save the footballer, with head judge Shirley Ballas stating that she would have also chosen to eliminate Willcox.

Following her elimination, Wilcox told host Tess Daly: “It’s been the best two months of my life, it has been fantastic. I have enjoyed every second. And you [Neil Jones] have been phenomenal, thank you so much.”
Meanwhile, professional dancer Jones added: “She has made me laugh so much, I have never seen someone work so hard – I’m the one asking for breaks every now and then!
“She just kept going, she wanted to learn so much. If you saw her in the hallway she’s been practicing. Everyone’s been telling me have you seen Toyah practicing, she’s brilliant and she’s what Strictly is all about, and I’ve loved every moment.”
When asked about her partner, Willcox said of her connection to Jones: “It was immediate, it had to be Neil. I felt so comfortable and safe. You’re a great teacher, you’re a great friend as well. You’ve just given me a new zest for life, that’s the most valuable thing I’ve come away with.”
Willcox’s elimination follows after Olympic swimmer Tom Dean became the first to be booted from the competition last week.
