Swamp People star Troy Landry charged in alligator hunting sting operation

Swamp People star Troy Landry has been cited and charged with two counts of “failing to tag an alligator upon taking,” according to a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries incident report.

Landry rose to fame as a cast member on the History Channel reality series, which follows a group of alligator hunters in the swamp region of Louisiana.

The well-known alligator hunter, 64, is said to have been discovered hunting without the proper alligator tags in Lake Palourde, located in St Mary Parish, per local news station WAFB.

Issued by the LDWF, the alligator tags are required for licensed hunters to harvest alligators in the state and are property-specific. The number of tags issued is based on the number of alligators estimated to be in that particular area. The tags must remain affixed to the alligator until it’s processed.

The report states that the department initially received a tip about a group of individuals hunting in the area without proper hunting permits.

Last month, two agents were sent out to stake the area where they are reported to have seen Landry and two other people, including “an unidentified cameraman,” show up to the area by boat.

The agents later discovered that Landry did, in fact, have a hunting permit for the property but allegedly did not have the correct alligator tags for the area.

“Mr Landry also admitted that prior to the agents making contact with him, he cut a dead ‘stiff’ alligator loose from his line and let it float away,” the report states.

It adds that the agents found the dead alligator floating in the water “with the same line hanging from its mouth as the rest of Mr Landry’s lines.”

He has been hit with two citations that each carry a potential fine of up to $950 and up to 120 days in prison: one for improperly tagging an alligator and the other for the dead alligator.

Speaking to WAFB, Landry said he had “nothing to say” about the charges. “I got a speeding ticket also last month but I have nothing to say about it,” he added.

The Independent has contacted the History Channel for comment.

Nicknamed “King of the Swamp,” Landry “consistently fills more tags than any swamper in Louisiana,” his network bio reads.

“As the son of a fisherman and seafood distributor, Troy has gator hunting in his blood,” it adds. “Together with his sons, Jacob and Chase, and a host of family and friends, the Landry gang runs an armada of boats each season to help control the gator population.”

Netflix viewers slam Menendez brothers prosecutor over ‘disgusting’ threat in new documentary

Netflix viewers slam Menendez brothers prosecutor over ‘disgusting’ threat in new documentary

Pamela Bozanich, who prosecuted the Menendez brothers’ first trial in 1993, has left Netflix viewers stunned by her fiery comments in a new documentary about the case.

The Menendez Brothers comes hot on the heels of Ryan Murphy’s recent dramatization of the murders of José and Kitty Menendez by their sons Erik and Lyle in 1989.

The new documentary features phone interviews with Erik and Lyle, who have long contended they were victims of sexual abuse from their father, as well as conversations with Kitty Menendez’s family relatives, journalist Robert Rand and Bozanich.

After a former member of the boy band Menudo claimed in 2023 that he was sexually assaulted by José as a child, Erik and Lyle’s case became the subject of countless videos on social media with users calling for a retrial. Murphy has previously admitted that the TikTok and Instagram attention on the case had inspired his series.

“Millions of young people are looking back online and they’re reexamining old news stories from the 90s and 2000s particularly, and looking at them with a fresh set of eyes,” New York Times technology reporter Taylor Lorenz says in the documentary.

Lyle, who has spent the last 34 years in prison, says: “Young people have taken the time to figure out what happened, and they understand it in ways that older people don’t,” he says. “I feel more hope when society seems to be understanding sex abuse even better.”

Bozanich, however, issues a firm rebuttal in the documentary, saying: “The only reason we’re doing this special is because of the TikTok movement to free the ‘Menendi.’

“If that’s how we’re gonna try cases now, why don’t we just, like, have a poll? You present the faces, everybody gets to vote on TikTok, and then we decide who gets to go home.

“Your beliefs are not facts. They’re just beliefs. And by the way, all you TikTok people, I’m armed. We got guns all over the house. So don’t mess with me.”

On X/Twitter, viewers criticized Bozanich’s threatening language. “Pamela Bozanich is a horrible person,” one wrote.

“She got her 15 minutes of fame on this documentary she didn’t have to do that interview and then to tell TikTokers to not come after her and she had guns! Disgusting behavior!”

Another wrote: “Just finished the menendez brothers documentary… firstly, i loved hearing from the brothers themselves. i cannot express how much they deserved better. second, f*** pamela bozanich. she pissed me off so badly.”

“Pamela bozanich still taking digs at leslie abramson after 35 years is insane behavior actually,” a third added, referencing the Menendez brothers’ defense attorney.

Erik and Lyle’s first trials ended with two deadlocked juries as they were both tried separately. In the second trial, both brothers were convicted on two counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to murder, and sentenced to life in prison.

Now, in 2024, new evidence has emerged that has the potential to set them free.

Last week, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced that his office is reviewing possible evidence included in petitions filed by the brothers last year. The new information will be discussed at a hearing scheduled for November 26.

The Menendez Brothers is streaming now on Netflix.

Shock moment Big Brother's Emma says she wants fellow housemate 'bound and gagged' in diary room rant

BIG Brother housemate Emma Morgan admitted she wanted her co-star to be “bound and gagged” on night one in a shock outburst.

The eldest housemate on the ITV2 reality TV series was left slamming enthusiastic co-star Lily, 20, in a furious rant about her over-energetic behaviour.

During the course of the episode, Lily could be seen making a series of noises as well as blurting out a pitchy version of Lady Gaga hit Bad Romance at the top of her lungs despite it being the early hours of the morning.

With fellow housemate Sarah having already described her as a “sensory overload”, it did not take long until Emma was having her say about Lily in a shock Diary Room rant.

She said about Lily: “Lily is very lively and I think we are all a bit tired.

I can see a few people thinking that she should just quieten down things a bit”.

“I do wish that she would fall asleep.

“When I was 20, I had a lot of energy but not quite at Lily’s level.”

In another shocking moment, she then revealed she wished she could have Lily “bound and gagged” in order to stop her from speaking.

She said: “I’d like her to be gagged and bound and put in a box for a few hours.

“I have got a feeling that even Lily is going to burn out at some stage.”

Predicting that her feelings could soon spiral into a row one viewer said: “I can’t wait for the day Emma says that to Lily’s face when she finally snaps.”

Another added: “Emma wanting Lily to stfu im dead.”

A third then wrote: “Gagged, bound and in a box is a CRAZY thing to say Emma.”

Before a fourth penned: “Emma wanting Lily to be ‘gagged, bound and put in a box… bless her’ is so iconic.”

Earlier in the episode, it was Lily herself that was left having an angry rant about another housemate – this time Sarah.

20-year-old Chinese Takeaway worker Lily was left seething about her co-star during a Diary Room rant within minutes of meeting her.

The Warrington native admitted she did not like co-star Sarah upon first impressions.

In a brutal moment, she mocked Sarah and her accent in her first visit to the Diary Room.

Lily said: “First of all, I’m sorry I don’t like Sarah.

“She is just like, ‘hi, I’m Sarah’, sorry, I know that’s offensive!”

Strictly Come Dancing star Toyah Willcox‘s playful dig at a fellow contestant briefly left Fleur East speechless as the pair chatted on Monday, 7 October.

The singer, 66, and her professional partner Neil Jones spoke to the It Takes Two host following their elimination on Sunday night.

When asked if she had a message for her fellow contestants, Willcox appeared to make a playful dig at Chris McCausland who scored 30 with his Wayne’s World-inspired performance with Dianne Buswell.

“If you don’t want to do a dance-off, get rid of Chris,” Willcox said as she laughed.
