Napoli contact Manchester United to enquire about Kobbie Mainoo
Napoli are currently dealing with a heavy injury crisis in the midfield department, with Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Anguissa and Billy Gilmour all unavailable for selection. The club have therefore recognized the need to hand coach Antonio Conte reinforcements in January, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, they’ve already made contact with Manchester United to ask about the availability of Kobbie Mainoo.
Napoli already have a history of good business with the 20-time English champions, namely Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund.
Once considered as a notable future prospect at United, Mainoo now finds himself on the fringes of the squad under Ruben Amorim and is yet to start a Premier League game this season. During the summer transfer window, he was reportedly open to leaving on loan but not on permanent deal, insisting on a chance to prove himself at Old Trafford at some point. United, on the other hand, wanted to sell to secure additional funds for new players, and no move of any kind materialized in the end.
Still only 20 and with 10 caps as an England international already to his name, Mainoo obviously has a lot to offer.
