There is more bad news for Cagliari following their Coppa Italia defeat to Napoli, as it is reported that Mattia Felici tore his anterior cruciate ligament and requires surgery.
The 24-year-old winger had come on as a substitute during that game at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona and fell awkwardly in the final minutes.
He stayed on and even took a penalty during the shoot-out, firing it against the crossbar during the 10-9 defeat.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Calciomercato report that Felici tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and will require surgery.
This type of injury tends to mean five to six months on the treatment table. It would be the second anterior cruciate ligament injury at Cagliari this season after Andrea Belotti.
Felici had a strong campaign for the Sardinians, contributing three goals and two assists in 13 games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
