Score and latest Premier League updates

Good afternoon and welcome to the Telegraph’s live coverage of the seventh and final instalment of today’s Premier League action, as Leeds welcome Liverpool to Elland Road, a match which kicks off at 5:30pm.

Both teams enter this fixture in rather contrasting moods, with Leeds having celebrated a significant 3-1 home victory against Chelsea in midweek, a result which ended a four-game losing streak in the league, while also moving the west Yorkshire side three points clear of the relegation zone on the night.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s underwhelming 1-1 draw at home against Sunderland on Wednesday saw the home side make their joint-worst start to a top-flight campaign in a decade, with just 22 points from their opening 14 games.

Visiting manager Arne Slot admitted in his pre-match press conference that he has admired Leeds’ performances in their previous two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea, and is wary of the threat the home side will pose tonight against his team.

Slot said: “I looked at Leeds v Chelsea and I thought I saw a Liverpool game. What we expect is what we have seen in the second half against Manchester City, when they were 2-0 down and came back to 2-2. Against Chelsea, they were really strong and played really aggressively.”

Leeds manager Daniel Farke has also spoken highly of his opponents before this fixture, while stating how his Leeds team are not getting carried away, even despite their impressive win against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Farke, in his pre-match press conference, said: “We are never over the moon after the win and also not too down when there is a result we don’t like. We are always self-critical, and we spoke today about what we can do better to improve. This is quite normal for such a big club.”

On Liverpool, the 49-year-old German said: “They are still a top-class side, they are the reigning champions, fully deserved last season, they were excellent. Of course… over the course of 38 games, you will sometimes have a period where the results don’t go in your way. They are two points off the Champions League positions, and I have no doubt in my mind that come the crunch period of the season, they will be back for the fight for the Champions League and also for the title.”

Historically, Leeds have struggled against Liverpool in this fixture in the top-flight in recent times, winning just one and losing eight of their past 12 top-flight matches against the Merseyside club.

However, can the home side reverse their recent misfortune against Liverpool tonight at Elland Road to earn another huge win against a Premier League big-hitter this evening?

Team news to follow shortly.
