No Saudi approach for Salah yet

Mohamed Salah was left out of Liverpool’s starting lineup for a third consecutive Premier League match against Leeds on Saturday, and for two of those he remained on the bench throughout.

Speaking to the press afterwards, the 33-year-old Egyptian cast serious doubt on his future at the club, saying he felt like the club were throwing him under the bus and that his previously good relationship with head coach Arne Slot had dissolved into non-existence. He leaves for the African Cup of Nations soon, and he says he doesn’t know what will happen when the transfer window opens at the turn of the year.

Views are split on the subject, with some believing Salah has earned better treatment with his historic contribution for the club, while others say he should come to terms with the fact that his form this season doesn’t warrant a regular starting spot.

As one would expect, the interview prompted a series of speculative media reports, citing interest in Salah in Saudi Arabia and saying that Saudi Pro League clubs would be willing to pay if he becomes available.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, no Saudi club has made contact with Liverpool as of yet.
