This year, Christmas will come early with Avengers: Doomsday and Robert Downey Jr’s return to the MCU. While Downey Jr picked up an Oscar for Oppenheimer in recent years and has a huge filmography, for most fans around the world, he’s best known for his embodiment of Tony Stark. His portrayal of Marvel’s playboy, billionaire, philanthropist is so iconic that it’s hard to separate the art from the artist.

So, when he decided to return to the MCU in a different role, fans were blown away. But good things take time, and so does Doomsday. The original SDCC announcement reintroduced the fan-favorite actor with the catchphrase, “new mask, same task,” which could mean many different things. Among them is the fact that Iron Man kick-started the entire universe and pulled Marvel Studios from financial struggles at the time. Now, with his return, fans are expecting the MCU might get a soft reboot, which makes space for better stories than what we’ve been getting since Avengers: Endgame.

The original Iron Man, directed by Jon Favreau, establishes Stark’s origin story after being held hostage in a cave. In those days, Marvel didn’t have Disney’s backing, so the movie was made with independent sensibilities and more practical effects, while Downey Jr brought a panache and overconfidence to Tony Stark that had not been seen before in a superhero. The movie was a big hit, earning $585 million at the box office and saving Marvel from bankruptcy.

Originally an underrated comic book character, Iron Man instantly got everyone’s attention on the big screen, becoming a cornerstone of the MCU, setting a template for years to come. Its success was followed by Iron Man 2, with Favreau and Downey Jr. returning to entertain fans once again. Though the movie’s portrayal of Mickey Rourke’s antagonist Whiplash remains controversial, the sequel introduced many characters that play a huge role in the larger MCU, like Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Don Cheadle’s Rhodey.

The Iron Man Movies Head to a New Streamer in 1 Week

For fans who’d like to start their MCU binge now for Doomsday or simply want to revisit their favorite movies, you’re in luck. Iron Man and Iron Man 2 are coming to Hulu, per CBR. Check them out for some great practical effects, improv moments that have become pop culture moments now, quotable dialogues, and compelling performances. The cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, and everyone’s favorite Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.

Ryan Lochte is thanking his lucky stars! According to new reports, the Olympic swimmer and his estranged wife, Kayla Reid, have narrowly escaped foreclosure on their Florida home after working out a deal with their neighborhood HOA.

Lochte has been the topic of conversation for the last year, as he’s been in the middle of a nasty divorce with Reid, who, by the way, accused him of having illicit drugs in front of their minor children and of cheating on her with his new girlfriend, Molly Gillihan.

And speaking of Gillihan, she recently became engaged to Ryan Lochte, who proposed to her at a fancy restaurant in Gainesville, Florida.

Lochte and Reid will not lose their home, as TMZ reported that the estranged couple has reached a settlement with the Fletcher Park Owners’ Association.

Don’t forget, The Blast reported on Lochte and Reid’s financial troubles last year, including the lawsuit the HOA filed against the pair, claiming that they failed to pay nearly $4,000 in associated fees.

While the details of the new deal remain unknown, Lochte and Reid can rest easy knowing that their nearly 3,000-square-foot home won’t be snatched out from under them.

Ryan Lochte And Reid Were Reportedly Dealing With A Massive Six-Figure Debt

According to a previous report from The Blast, Lochte and Reid were facing even more financial woes last year, including a reported $99,000 in back taxes owed to the IRS for the years 2021 and 2022.

Adding to the drama, a nonprofit named Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinic filed a $127,000 lien against the former couple, accusing Lochte of failing to pay for services he reportedly received while spending days in their care.

And to make matters worse, the nonprofit organization also requested an additional $40,000 for treatment Lochte allegedly received in February 2024.

The news about Lochte and Reid’s Florida home comes a year after the latter filed for divorce from the 41-year-old. She opened up about her decision in a candid Instagram post, telling her hundreds of thousands of followers that she had reached it after much thought.

“Sometimes we face trials we didn’t choose or see coming. And in those moments, we’re forced to make the hardest decisions to protect our peace, our children, and our future. I’ve come to the understanding that staying isn’t always the most loving decision someone can make. For me, leaving was an act of love — for those around me and for myself,” she said.

Reid Appeared To Accuse Lochte Of Cheating Before Filing For Divorce

Since announcing their plans to split, Reid has accused the swimmer of alarming behavior, including drug use and cheating. During an episode of her “The Comeback Era” podcast, she appeared to throw shade at Lochte and his new relationship with Gillihan, stating that the pair had been together well before she filed for divorce.

“Well, your technically still-husband is already living with his girlfriend,” Reid’s co-host said about Lochte’s new partner after calling her Lochte’s “mistress.”

Reid replied, saying she was happy for Lochte and adding that the pair have known each other for “many years.”

Lochte clapped back in a statement to PEOPLE, saying, “I absolutely was not faithful to my ex-wife. And I have no excuse but to continue to say I have grown and learned so much from my past and I am working on myself and my character every single day.”

He added, “I love Molly and the family we have so much and it breaks my heart to see Molly dragged into this because never, not one time, did Molly and I have any sort of inappropriate relationship while I was with Kayla. I reached out to Molly after I was served divorce papers and living on my own.”

Lochte’s love for Gillihan is something serious, according to The Blast, as the swimmer recently popped the big question at a Florida eatery.

Lochte reportedly surprised Gillihan with an overflow of flowers and a letter containing the question. “She immediately started crying and said, ‘What took you so long?’” Lochte said.

The 62-year-old posted a series of photographs showing the residence overtaken by moving boxes, including a striking image of herself stretched out on the floor surrounded by the packed belongings.

“So long perfect little one bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side. The last eight years here have been so special,” Gilbert wrote.

The photos captured stacks of carefully labeled U-Haul boxes filling the living room, while another image showed Gilbert lying on a rug amid the chaos. 

A final photograph offered a look at the apartment before the moving process began.

Melissa Gilbert’s Move Comes As Timothy Busfield Fights Criminal Charges

The timing of Gilbert’s departure from Manhattan has drawn attention because it coincides with Busfield’s legal challenges.

The actor, whom Gilbert has been married to since 2013, is currently fighting a criminal case in New Mexico. 

Busfield has been charged with four counts of criminal sexual contact with a child under the age of 13.

A grand jury indicted him on February 6 over allegations tied to alleged incidents that reportedly occurred in October 2022 and September 2023. Each count carries the designation of a third-degree felony.

Busfield has pleaded not guilty and has repeatedly denied the allegations. The charges involve two child actors who worked on “The Cleaning Lady,” the television series where Busfield served as both a producer and director between 2022 and 2025.
