Five things to know about Storm Bram as Scotland covered in wind and rain warnings – Daily Record
Here’s everything to know about Scotland’s dismal forecast
What to know about Storm Bram and Scotland’s weather warnings
Storm Bram is the latest storm that is set to impact the UK. Named by Irish forecaster Met Eireann, it will mainly affect the northwest of the UK, with areas on the far east, including London, narrowly avoiding it.
Ahead of Storm Bram, Scotland has been issued four weather warnings for this week. Three of them are yellow, while one is a more severe amber. The yellow warnings include two for wind and one for rain, while the remaining amber is also for wind. Some warnings are just in place for Scotland, while others impact northern England with one stretching as far south as Wales.
Scotland’s amber wind warning predicts winds reaching up to 90mph, primarily in the far northwest. Meanwhile, a separate wind warning for the top half of the country forecasts 80mph. A third wind warning for the bottom half anticipates excess wind speeds of 70mph.
Residents within areas of all three wind warnings are being urged to take caution, particularly those situated along the coast as high waves are expected. There is also the possibility of power outages, transport disruption and “danger to life” injury from flying debris
A yellow weather warning for rain is to last for much of Tuesday, December 9, with up to 40mm to fall within a four to six hour period. The Met Office highlights that the majority of conditions as a result of these weather warnings are to clear by the morning of Wednesday, December 9.
