The magic ingredient being a true Irish classic beverage – Guinness.

Typically enjoyed as a refreshing, chilled pint down the local, or utilised in a decadent, indulgent chocolate cake, Guinness proves versatile across numerous recipes. Incorporating Guinness into your Yorkshire pudding batter will deliver a more profound and fuller flavour profile, whilst also creating a darker appearance once cooked, reports the Express.

Alex commented: “I think Guinness makes the best Yorkshire puddings. Yeah, don’t skip this one.”

Lucky Nugget said, “Might have to give this a go…,” while Lee commented, “Oh this sounds great.”

For those seeking an inventive and mildly alcoholic spin on traditional Yorkshire puddings, here’s everything required to replicate Alex’s recipe at home for your upcoming Sunday roast.

Yorkshire puddings

Ingredients:

  • Flour
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Guinness
  • Salt, to season

Method:

Pop the flour, eggs, milk and Guinness into a bowl, then season to taste. Whisk the ingredients together until you achieve a smooth batter.

Allow the batter to rest for at least an hour.

Heat your chosen fat – Alex opts for lard – in a muffin tin until it’s smoking hot. Pour the batter into the moulds and whack them straight back in the oven.

Bake at 230C until the Yorkshire puddings have risen, and are crispy and golden. Set them aside on a rack, ready to be devoured with a roast dinner.
