My New Sysracks Enclosed Rack! (Sysracks 27U 24" SRW27.600)
After seeing TechnoTim’s video about his new Sysracks (@sysracksequipment1952) enclosed rack, I knew I wanted to get one for myself, so I did some research and found that the 27U 24″ SRW27.600 seemed to be the best bang for the buck for my setup.
Here’s a link to the enclosed unit I got:

New Home Backup Server (Dell T640 with 18 20TB Disks)
In this video I create a new backup server from a Dell EMC PowerEdge T640 with 18x 20TB Seagate Exos refurbished drives. Also there’s some more ranting about backups in general. But idk, there are chapters so you can skip to whatever. And it’s not technically a server, in that it doesn’t serve files. It’s really more of a client that takes files from other servers and holds onto them. But I call it a backup server because hardware-wise it’s a server. Anywho, that’s the description. It’s probably not optimal for the YouTube algorithm, but hey, I’m not an influencer even though I have a TikTok account that I don’t use.

The Man Who Revolutionized Computer Science With Math
Leslie Lamport revolutionized how computers talk to each other. The Turing Award-winning computer scientist pioneered the field of distributed systems, where multiple components on different networks coordinate to achieve a common objective. (Internet searches, cloud computing and artificial intelligence all involve orchestrating legions of powerful computing machines to work together.) In the early 1980s, Lamport also created LaTeX, a document preparation system that provides sophisticated ways to typeset complex formulas and format scientific documents. In 1989, Lamport invented Paxos, a “consensus algorithm” that allows multiple computers to execute complex tasks; without it, modern computing could not exist. He’s also brought more attention to a handful of problems, giving them distinctive names like the bakery algorithm and the Byzantine Generals Problem. Lamport’s work since the 1990s has focused on “formal verification,” the use of mathematical proofs to verify the correctness of software and hardware systems. Notably, he created a “specification language” called TLA+ (for Temporal Logic of Actions), which employs the precise language of mathematics to prevent bugs and avoid design flaws.

If you do 3D printing, there are plans out there for printing stationary vane static boost plates that mount inline between the fan and enclosure. Helpful for when you run an array of fans at lower RPM for less noise, helps keep positive pressure in your enclosure!!!😁👍🏻

I have a slightly older (2019) version of that 27U rack, but mine is the upgraded model with 4 cooling fans and temp. sensor, and the LCD screen. Additionally, the back door goes on/comes off just like the front one (same latch/lock, too). Like you, I had to deal with a few minor mfg. defects. I also had to contact Sysracks several times – once due to the wrong cage nuts, then 2 dented fan frames/shrouds and finally a bad LCD screen. All were replaced at no cost and without any hassle. 8 months later, I notified them about two broken plastic door latches, which they promptly replaced (for free). Their customer service was top-notch (my first interaction with them was at 11:30 PM on a Saturday!). I have since replaced all 4 cooling fans with similar, slightly upgraded models. Multiply that fan noise you heard X4. Unfortunately, it didn't really improve with the new fans. However, it's not really an issue since my rack is in an unfinished basement. I added LED light strips like you and many others did, as well as various shelves and a 1U sliding keyboard tray. All in all, it's a great rack.

That top fan is insufficient for a fully loaded 27RU rack., I would suggest cutting out 4x 200mm fan holes and install some 200mm fans.

Nice review. This is the exact rack I am looking at for my AV gear.
A question… maybe two, Does the entire rack when fully loaded feel stable when rolling around? I have about a 120 LBS of gear to rack.
Do you think Bluetooth, WiFi, and system remote controllers will work through the cabinet?…
Once again, good review, very thorough, thanx.
