Everton star Armando Broja was stretchered off in the FA Cup match against Peterborough on Thursday night at Goodison Park.

The striker, who has only recently returned from injury, appeared to twist his ankle horrifically after jumping to avoid a challenge.

Medics attended to the Albania international, who is on loan from Chelsea this season.

While still on the turf, Broja was given oxygen as he appeared to be in serious discomfort.

Speaking on BBC, Martin Keown said: “Armando Broja is so unlucky with injuries.

“He has done his ACL before and was out for a long time. Since he’s been at Everton it has been injury after injury.

“He doesn’t look well, he has done something serious to that ankle. They are giving him oxygen.”

While taking in the gas and air, medics strapped up Broja’s ankle as Jesper Lindstrom came on in his place, having only been subbed on minutes previously himself.

The incident occurred when Broja raced toward goal with Peterborough keeper Nicholas Bilokapic flying out of his box to try challenge him.

After missing the ball, defender Emmanuel Fernandez managed to pull off a brilliant slide tackle to stop Broja putting the ball into an empty net.

However, as the 23-year-old hurdled the Peterborough star, he landed awkwardly and TV replays appeared to show his ankle twang horrifically.

As play continued, Broja was left screaming in pain on the deck as the referee eventually stopped the game and medics were able to attend to the striker.
