The flurry of second-half goals against Wolves had a positive impact on the team’s goal difference (four), with 26 scored and 22 conceded. 

As Brown discusses, Sir Alex Ferguson would always instruct his teams to go for more goals and Wes admits it was occasionally puzzling for the players, but vital in the long run. 

“In the last six games of the season, if you’re two points ahead and you end up drawing you still know you’re top of the league [on goal difference].

“Whether it was Arsenal or Chelsea and it was really tight, you had that mental feeling over your opponent.
