Andy Whyment has responded to a remark about his ‘screen time’ in Coronation Street as he was seen partying with his co-stars from the long-running show.

Fans of the ITV soap best know the actor for playing Kirk Sutherland, having made his debut in the role back in 2000. However, that wasn’t Andy’s first appearance on the cobbles as he actually appeared in the long-running show in 1990 and 1997 and was just referred to as Mark.

He also previously appeared in the Salford-based programme as Wayne, a guy who was simply purchasing some fireworks in The Kabin. But it was in 2000 that he became a regular in the role of Kirk and the rest, as they say, is history and back in October, Andy celebrated 25 years since his debut as Kirk on Corrie.

It was over the weekend that Andy was seen with many of his castmates, as well as members of the Corrie crew, as they celebrated the festive season with their annual Christmas party.

The Corrie stars headed to Refuge Restaurant and Bar off Oxford Road in Manchester City Centre on Friday (December 5) with veteran stars William (Bill) Roache, Jack P Shepherd and Sally Dynevor, as well as they recently-returned Catherine Tyldesley among them ready to let their hair down.

Sharing a string of pictures and video from the evening, which saw Andy posing with Ken Barlow legend Bill as well as pals Alan Halsall and Mikey North, as well as taking to the mic to give the party-goers a song, he said: “Had such a fantastic night @coronationstreet Christmas Party.

“Even the main man and LEGEND Bill Roache came for a bit.” He then added: “I know I always say it but it’s an absolute honour to be a part of this incredible Corrie family.”

But it was in response to the post that one Corrie fan said: “Love how you love being in Corrie despite your screen time,” to which Andy seemingly addressed his future as he responded: “I’d like to be in a bit more but when I am in work I absolutely love it and I am very grateful to work on a show that I’ve been watching since being a kid, I love playing Kirk and hopefully I’ll get to play him for many more years.”

The Corrie cast were also entertained by magician, Zanda Magic, who comment on Andy’s post: “It was a pleasure meeting you last night – so pleased you enjoyed my magic. P.S. your voice is AMAZING,” to which Andy admitted: “Ah bless you thanks very much, I can’t help myself when there is a mic and I’ve had a few drinks [crying laughing emojis]. Nice to meet you as well.”
