Morrisons is rolling out self-service parcel lockers to 500 stores across the UK, allowing shoppers to collect and return parcels while doing their weekly shop.

Morrisons has introduced a significant change across 500 stores to “make life easier” for customers.

The supermarket has revealed it is broadening a partnership to install parcel storage lockers across even more locations, enabling greater numbers of customers to collect and return online orders while doing their weekly shop.

The collaboration with Quadient subsidiary Parcel Pending saw lockers rolled out at 230 Morrisons Daily stores in Spring 2025.

The lockers will now be placed in supermarkets throughout the country.

In June, lockers were fitted at 125 locations across the UK.

Over the coming months, the change will be implemented across 500 stores throughout the retailer’s network.

Morrisons confirmed the self-service lockers will allow shoppers to collect and return parcels from multiple delivery companies, while also supporting services including retail click-and-collect, prescription collection, key exchange and spare parts retrieval.

John Parry, head of popular & useful services at Morrisons said: “At Morrisons, we are committed to providing services that make life easier for our customers and strengthen the role our stores play within local communities.

“Following the success of our Morrisons Daily partnership, expanding Quadient lockers into our supermarket estate is a natural next step.

“This partnership enables us to offer customers greater flexibility and convenience while enhancing the range of useful services available through our stores.”

Recent consumer research conducted by Quadient revealed that 60 per cent of shoppers favour parcel lockers situated at supermarkets, while 59 per cent wish to manage deliveries from multiple carriers through a single collection point.

The rollout marks an expansion of Quadient’s open locker service across the UK. The firm has already installed more than 27,000 locker units worldwide and is targeting a rise to 40,000 by 2030.

The intense fire erupted in a Fife village tonight and alarming photos have captured the ferocity of the flames.

A Fife home has been ravaged by flames this evening prompting a major emergency response. The fire erupted shortly before 9pm on Wednesday, July 8 on Venus Place in Cellardyke.

Emergency services, including Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, raced to the village, next to Anstruther. Three appliances have been drafted in to battle the flames and the service has confirmed the fire is still raging.

Shocking photos taken at the scene show angry flames and thick, black smoke pouring out of the property. The fire seems to have started on the ground floor, as the front door and living room windows are completely destroyed.

The flames can be seen climbing to the second floor of the home. Residents appear to have been forced from the home and were seen standing on the street watching the horror event unfold before them.

Alarmed locals gather in the street while several fire engines with hoses in tow can be seen parked up on the street. The road has been taped off while firefighters get to work bringing the raging inferno under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said no one is understood to have been hurt.

A spokesperson said: “We were called to a fire at a domestic property on Venus Place, Cellardyke at 8:45pm.

“The incident is ongoing. No casualties have been reported.”

Police later found out the 40-year-old would only let the victim take medication if he forced it down her mouth

A man tried to electrocute and stab his partner after she tried to end their relationship. Ashley Hudson, 40, of Southwell Close, March, burned his victim with a homemade Taser-type device.

He then stabbed her repeatedly in the face and head, telling her he would “rather kill her than leave her”. The victim told Hudson she was ending their relationship in September last year and he agreed to move out of their home by October 13.

However, four days before he was due to leave, Hudson launched an attack on the victim while she was asleep. As she laid on her front in bed, Hudson got on top of her and used the taser on her back.

She suffered two deep burn wounds. When she rolled over and tried to fight him off, Hudson used the taser again on her side and chest.

He then repeatedly stabbed her in the head with a potato knife, causing four skull fractures. Hudson then forced the woman into the shower and told her to clean herself up before fleeing the property with the knife and a bag containing clothes, his phone and the victim’s phone.

Despite her injuries, the victim managed to escape to a neighbour’s house for help. At 12.29am on October 9, Hudson called 999 and told a call handler: “I’ve just stabbed my missus – I think I stabbed her a lot”.

He said he was covered in her blood, he’d left the scene and was in a nearby field. Officers arrived at the victim’s property and found her distressed and soaked in blood and water.

During the investigation, officers discovered Hudon monitored the woman’s phone and social media accounts and had previously installed cameras and voice-recording devices inside a home they shared.

He would also only allow the woman to take medication if he physically placed it in her mouth. Also, over a two-month period he over-medicated her, leaving her constantly tired and needing to sleep for long periods.

Officers later arrested Hudson in a field on the outskirts of March. During police interviews, Hudson claimed he remembered seeing the victim asleep in bed before blacking out and waking up with a knife in his hand.

On Friday (July 3), Hudson was sentenced to 24 years in prison at Peterborough Crown Court. He was found guilty of attempted murder.

Detective Sergeant Steve Ward said: “This was a truly horrific and sustained attack on a woman whose ‘crime’ was only wanting to end a relationship. When he realised he was losing control over her, he carried out a calculated and brutal attack with the clear intention of killing her.

“The victim suffered significant physical and emotional trauma, yet throughout this investigation she has shown remarkable courage and resilience. Her bravery in supporting the prosecution has been instrumental in securing this conviction.

“I hope this sentence provides the victim with a sense of justice and allows her to move forward with her life, knowing Hudson can no longer harm her.”

Donald Trump has ordered new US attacks on Iran, the Pentagon has confirmed just hours after he vowed at a NATO summit to “hit them hard”.

In a blistering statement, US Central Command said American forces had launched “additional strikes” to punish Iran for its “recent unjustified aggression” against civilian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the Express reports.

On Tuesday (July 7), the U.S. confirmed it had already smashed more than 80 Iranian targets in a “series of powerful strikes” after Tehran allegedly attacked three commercial vessels in the strategic waterway.

“At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” a statement from Central Command read.

“The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway.”

On 7 July, CENTCOM confirmed that numerous targets had been struck following “a series of powerful strikes” triggered by alleged Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The Command subsequently confirmed that “over 80 targets” had been hit in total.

Three civilian vessels were struck in the strait earlier on Tuesday, according to UN International Maritime Organisation figures. Iran, however, did not claim any of the attacks.

President Trump appeared to issue an ultimatum to Tehran earlier this week, warning that “we’re either going to have a deal or we’re going to have a war”.

Speaking at the NATO summit in Turkey on 7 July and 8 July, the president declared: “If we make a deal with Iran, I’m not sure that will stick because I found them to be very dishonourable. We hit them very hard last night, very, very hard,” adding that the US will “probably hit them hard again tonight”.

His remarks regarding the fragile ceasefire triggered a fresh surge in oil prices. Brent crude leapt approximately 6.5% to $79 a barrel on Wednesday morning following Mr Trump’s announcement that the ceasefire had collapsed.

His statements came after months of sporadic conflict and intensive diplomatic wrangling between Washington and Tehran. “We’re either going to have a deal or we’re going to have a war,” the US President warned.

Although a two-week ceasefire was brokered in April and subsequently extended indefinitely, the situation across the Middle East continues to hang by a thread.

The 48-year-old ends her career as Great Britain’s most successful Paralympian, with 24 medals, including a record 19 golds in both swimming and cycling across nine Paralympic Games.

She has opted to step away from competition two years ahead of what could have been her 10th Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

Ahead of the Beijing 2008 Games, Dame Sarah switched to cycling.

She went on to win 14 more gold medals – nine on the road and five in the velodrome.

Four of her titles came on home soil at London 2012, and she retires as the reigning Paralympic champion, following a double success in Paris two years ago.

Dame Sarah said: “Physically, I fully believe that I could be on that start line in Los Angeles, confident of defending my two titles from Paris.”

She added: “However, I believe I can now be a more positive influence leveraging new roles and opportunities that allow me to fight for Para sport, and the coverage that it deserves.”

Her announcement comes ahead of this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where the Para sport schedule has been integrated into the competition schedule.

She expressed concern that progress in Para sport has slowed since the London 2012 Games.

She said: “There’s also no doubt in my mind that, within Para sport, we have stalled somewhat since London 2012, and the years between each Games haven’t been utilised well enough to create the momentum that I and others hoped to see.”

Adding: “I see this as a critical stage; there are many areas of Para sport that still need attention, and that is something that has played a big part in my decision.

“I fully believe that I can have a greater impact off my bike, rather than chasing a 10th Games and possibly further titles.

“I’m excited to be part of a future where we inject the momentum that is needed to ensure the future is bright for all Para athletes.”

Sixteen children have been taken from a squalid, crumbling property where they were “kept in worse conditions than livestock.” US authorities have characterised the alleged crimes as an ‘intrafamily’ case, suggesting some of the children may have been born from incestuous relationships within the family.

Officials say the children, aged between 18 months and 18 years old, “looked like feral animals” with four adults, Gary Siders Jr, Gary Siders Sr, Christina Siders and Elizabeth Siders, believed to be the parents and grandparents, now facing criminal charges.

Prosecutor William Archer said the carers were responsible for causing “serious physical harm”. New documentation uncovered relating to the case reveals that Elizabeth Siders gave birth to daughters Bailey Lee and Faith Lee Siders at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, in 2022, reports the Express.

They were born with a condition called thoracopagus, where their faces and chests were conjoined.

They tragically died later that day, according to the records. Officers were met with a harrowing scene, with all the children crammed into a dilapidated three-and-a-half square metre space covered in human waste.

The shocking conditions, which the children are said to have suffered for four years, were branded “pure evil,” by Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson.

Wilson described the children as existing in “conditions you cannot even imagine people being in, let alone children being in.”

He noted that several children were unable to speak, with investigators disclosing that an 18 year old found at the property could not write her own name. Wilson stated: “It was terrible. They looked like almost feral animals. It was terrible.”

Two parents and two grandparents each face 17 counts of endangering children, a second-degree felony.

Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain expressed his horror at the discovery, stating: “Most of our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children.”

Seven of the children were transferred to hospitals in Columbus, with two needing emergency airlift.

Wilson confirmed that one child remained in a critical condition on Tuesday, while the remaining children were undergoing medical treatment.

He stressed that addressing the children’s physical wellbeing was the immediate priority, while also recognising the profound psychological trauma their lengthy ordeal would have caused. Officials refused to detail the exact family connections between the children, but confirmed this was not a case of human trafficking.

The four suspects have no ties to the area, with detectives believing they had been continuously moving to prevent creating medical and governmental records.

“These folks were pretty good at hiding these kids,” Mr Wilson said. Prosecutor Archer stated: “Our children deserve better from their parents, guardians, and custodians. No child should endure these kinds of conditions.

“My office will do everything in our power to make sure these children get the love and care they deserve. My office will prosecute these persons to the fullest extent of the law.”

The four accused appeared at Vinton County Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday morning and are being held on $300,000 bail. Detectives believe the Siders family has been residing across multiple Ohio counties since 2008 and are investigating whether they had any prior contact with children’s services.

The shocking find occurred in the tiny township of Hamden, with a population of under 1,000, located approximately 60 miles south-east of Columbus.
