Naomi Osaka Harper’s Bazaar Australia New Zealand January 2025

Estimated read time 2 min read

Over recent years, we’ve become accustomed to seeing Naomi Osaka down at the newsstand. After all, fashion titles like American Vogue, Vogue Japan, Allure, WSJ. Magazine, and Dazed have each embraced the tennis ace as a cover girl. Jillian Davison at Harper’s Bazaar Australia & New Zealand is the latest, with Naomi Osaka making an appearance on the January 2025 cover. The Japanese tennis player (who has won four grand slam titles) is photographed by John Russo for the occasion. Naomi poses under the warm Los Angeles sunshine in the sun-lit cover photograph, with stylist Sue Choi selecting a look from Nicolas Ghesquière’s Barcelona-staged Louis Vuitton Cruise 2025 collection. Osaka became a Louis Vuitton brand ambassador for the French fashion house in early 2021, and starred in the Spring 2021 campaign.

“There is a reason why models are supposed to be on the cover of fashion magazines,” immediately critiqued svpernova.

“It’s not so much that athletes shouldn’t be on the cover of fashion magazines, it’s more that the lessers producing these shoots nowadays don’t know how to dress/style/shoot athletes at all,” replied Phuel.

“Naomi Osaka is just not an expressive person in general. She’s giving nothing but that should be expected if you’ve seen her in interviews. She’s a dynamic tennis player but not a dynamic personality,” Lucien112 chimed in.

Also not much of a fan was vogue28. “No denying Naomi Osaka has been rather horribly profiled here. The expression, the pose, the Louis Vuitton look – all horrific. That being said, I like the coloring and the warmth that this cover radiates,” he shared.
