A body has been found after police launched a major hunt for missing 85-year-old Glenda Keal who was last seen walking in Leicestershire after getting off a bus
A body has been found in the search for a missing pensioner. Glenda Keal, 85, from Leicestershire was last seen on Sunday, December 7.
Police have been searching for the elderly woman who was reported missing from her home in Earl Shilton. On Thursday, December 11, shortly after 8.40am, the force received a report that the body of a woman has been found in the area of Brick Kiln Street in Hinckley.
It is believed to be Glenda, although formal identification has not yet taken place. The pensioner was last seen in Hawley Road in Hinckley, walking towards Westfield Road, just after 1.50pm.
CCTV footage was released that showed Glenda in Hawley Road in Hinckley, walking towards Westfield Road wheeling along a shopping trolley. Enquires revealed that she had taken the number 158 bus from The Hollow in Earl Shilton just before 1.30pm and got off at The Crescent in Hinckley at around 1.45pm.
Specialist officers are supporting her family after they became ‘extremely concerned’ about Glenda’s whereabouts. Her death is not believed to be suspicious.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “A body has been found in the search for an 85-year-old woman reported missing from her home in Earl Shilton. Glenda Keal was last seen on Sunday, December 7 in Hawley Road in Hinckley – walking towards Westfield Road – just after 1.50pm.
“Shortly after 8.40am this morning (Thursday, December 11) a report was received that the body of a woman had been found in the area of Brick Kiln Street in Hinckley. Although formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be Glenda.
“Her family are currently being supported by specialist officers and have asked for privacy at this difficult time. Her death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
