There are conversation topics you should raise for deeper connection
As people prepare for their roast turkey and stuffing many are dreading the lunchtime chat as 37% struggle with making Christmas conversation and nearly 90% of Gen Z are distracted by tech at the Christmas dinner table, according to new research from Uber Eats.
A quarter of Gen Z prefer to talk about social media and memes over ‘Millennial topics’ like food and fitness. And four in ten Boomers prefer to share holiday stories, according to the study. Nick Grimshaw has teamed up with Uber Eats and Indian street food restaurant chain Mowgli to produce a set of festive conversation cards.
The cards are designed to move beyond polite small talk into life’s bigger topics with questions like ‘is there a lesson you’ve learned that’s stayed with you’ and ‘what’s a mealtime tradition you’d love to start?’
They provide a festive take on Mowgli’s core concept, which is about bringing people together over home-style Indian cooking. Nick said: “I love when people open up and share their stories, and I firmly believe that the best conversations happen when people are relaxed, enjoying good food, and have their phones at bay, being present in the moment.”
And fans can join Nick for dinner at Mowgli in London on the December 16. Follow Uber Eats UK on Instagram to find out more. Nick added: “I’m thrilled to team up with Uber Eats and Mowgli to inject some life back into dinner table discussions, giving people the tools they need to switch off the screen and turn up the chat.”
Saskia De Jongh at Uber Eats said: “Every day, millions of us enjoy amazing food through Uber Eats. With Mowgli, we wanted to offer something extra this Christmas: delicious dishes and a moment to truly reconnect to our loved ones. After all, great stories, like great food, are meant to be shared.”
Lucy Worth,CEO at Mowgli, said: “Mowgli has always existed to enrich the lives of others, and we’re thrilled to now be able to do that in our customers’ homes. Partnering with Uber Eats and Nick Grimshaw is a brilliant way to celebrate that — and to bring people together through great food and conversation.”
