A body has been found in the search for a missing pensioner who vanished after boarding a bus.
The discovery was made in the area of Brick Kiln Street in Hinckley at 8.40am on Thursday. While formal identification is yet to take place, police believe the deceased to be 85-year-old Glenda Keal.
The pensioner was last seen in Hawley Road in Hinckley, walking towards Westfield Road, just after 1.50pm.
CCTV footage was released that showed Glenda in Hawley Road in Hinckley, walking towards Westfield Road wheeling along a shopping trolley. Inquires revealed that she had taken the number 158 bus from The Hollow in Earl Shilton just before 1.30pm and got off at The Crescent in Hinckley at around 1.45pm.
Specialist officers are supporting her family after they became ‘extremely concerned’ about Glenda’s whereabouts. Her death is not believed to be suspicious.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told the Mirror: “A body has been found in the search for an 85-year-old woman reported missing from her home in Earl Shilton. Glenda Keal was last seen on Sunday, December 7 in Hawley Road in Hinckley – walking towards Westfield Road – just after 1.50pm.
“Shortly after 8.40am this morning (Thursday, December 11) a report was received that the body of a woman had been found in the area of Brick Kiln Street in Hinckley. Although formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be Glenda.
“Her family are currently being supported by specialist officers and have asked for privacy at this difficult time. Her death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
