The latest version of the Exynos 2500 has been spotted on the Geekbench database. While its model number remains the same as the previous version, it boasts a significant performance upgrade.
The Exynos 2500 gains extra CPU cores
The newly listed Exynos 2500 version features a powerful 10-core architecture. This marks a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The chip includes three Cortex-X925 CPU cores clocked at 2.59 GHz. It also has five Cortex-A725 CPU cores running at 2.25 GHz and two Cortex-A520 cores operating at 1.75 GHz. These enhancements point to a stronger emphasis on performance.
Samsung also enhanced the GPU in this Exynos 2500 version. The AMD Radeon-based Xclipse 950 GPU now includes additional cores, increasing its capabilities. This update focuses on enhancing graphics performance for gaming and multimedia applications. The GPU’s clock speed remains at 1.3 GHz, but its increased core count hints at a significant boost in rendering capabilities.
The company is currently grappling with its processor strategy for the Galaxy S25 lineup. While rumors are indicating that the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra may utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, reports from SamMobile suggest that the company has not entirely abandoned its in-house Exynos 2500 version. According to the outlet, if production yields improve, Samsung may still opt to use the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 and S25+ models.

The Sun’s corona, its outermost atmospheric layer, holds the key to understanding solar activity, including phenomena like solar flares and space weather events. For decades, scientists have grappled with the challenge of measuring the Sun’s coronal magnetic field, as this field drives much of the energy that leads to solar eruptions.
Now, in a groundbreaking achievement, Professor Tian Hui’s research team from Peking University, in collaboration with international experts, has made the first conventional measurements of the global coronal magnetic field. Their findings, published in the journal Science (Volume 386, No 6717), offer new insights into the Sun’s magnetic activity over a period of eight months.
The Sun’s magnetic field is responsible for storing and releasing energy, which heats the plasma in the corona and triggers solar eruptions. These eruptions, in turn, can have significant impacts on space weather, potentially affecting satellite operations, GPS systems, and even human spaceflight. However, due to the relatively weak nature of the coronal magnetic field compared to the magnetic field on the Sun’s surface (the photosphere), measuring this field has proven to be a significant challenge.
The importance of coronal magnetic field measurements
As the Sun rotates, there are variations in the magnetic fields and the ability to regularly monitor the Sun’s coronal magnetic field will improve our understanding of solar eruptions and help protect high-tech systems on Earth and in space.

Over the years, there have been routine measurements of the photospheric magnetic field, but the coronal field has remained elusive. This limitation has impeded scientists’ ability to fully understand the three-dimensional magnetic field structure and the dynamic processes that occur in the Sun’s atmosphere.
In 2020, Tian Hui’s team developed a method called “two-dimensional coronal shocks,” which enabled the first measurements of the global distribution of the coronal magnetic field. This was a major milestone, marking a crucial step towards the goal of routine coronal magnetic field measurements.
More recently, Tian’s team refined this method further, allowing them to track magnetohydrodynamic shear waves in the corona with greater precision. This made it possible to diagnose the distribution of coronal density and, as a result, determine both the strength and direction of the magnetic field.

Using the Upgraded Coronal Multi-Channel Polarimeter (UCoMP), the research team conducted detailed observations of the Sun’s corona from February to October 2022. Over this eight-month period, they collected 114 magnetograms, or magnetic field images, which allowed them to observe the evolution of the coronal magnetic field at different altitudes and latitudes across multiple solar rotations. The magnetic field strength measured between 1.05 and 1.60 solar radii and varied from less than 1 gauss to around 20 gauss.
With these measurements, they were able to create a global map of the magnetic field intensity in the Sun’s corona. This map revealed how the magnetic field evolves over time and across different regions of the Sun.
When compared to the predictions of the most advanced global coronal models—such as the one developed by Predictive Science, a U.S.-based company—the team found that their observational data closely matched the model’s predictions in mid- and low-latitude regions. However, they noted larger discrepancies in high-latitude regions and active areas of the Sun.
These findings are critical for improving current models of the Sun’s magnetic activity and understanding the dynamics of solar eruptions. As lead author Yang Zihao explains, the team’s observations provide a key foundation for refining and optimizing coronal models, which could eventually lead to more accurate predictions of solar eruptions and their potential impact on Earth’s space environment.

According to Tian Hui, this achievement is just the beginning. While their current methods allow for the measurement of the magnetic field at the edge of the solar disk, the next goal is to develop techniques that will enable a complete measurement of the entire coronal magnetic field, including the solar disk itself. This will require the integration of other measurement methods and tools, but it represents a critical objective for the solar physics community in the coming decades.

Donald Trump’s crypto project, World Liberty Financial, published a 13-page document on Thursday, describing its mission, how tokens can be allocated, and indicating that the Republican presidential nominee and his family could take home 75% of net revenue.
In what it calls the “World Liberty Gold Paper,” WLF said the Trump family will receive 22.5 billion “$WLFI” tokens, currently valued at $337.5 million, based on the price of 1.5 cents per token at launch this week.
Trump, who’s in a virtual dead heat with Vice President Kamala Harris as the election reaches its closing stages, has spent months pumping his crypto project, previously branding it as “The DeFiant Ones,” a play on DeFi, short for decentralized finance.

On Tuesday, the project launched the WLFI token and said in a roadmap that it was looking to raise $300 million at a $1.5 billion valuation in its initial sale. As of Thursday, only $12.9 million worth of the token have been sold, according to its website.
The paper released on Thursday shows that Trump and his family assume no liability. It indicates that none of them are directors, employees, managers or operators of WLF or its affiliates, and said the project and the tokens “are not political and have no affiliation with any political campaign.”
Neither WLF nor the Trump campaign immediately responded to a request for comment.
Crypto projects typically release white papers before they launch their coins, offering a guide so that investors can learn more about the mission, goals and how future tokens get allocated. WLF’s paper says that a Delaware-based company named DT Marks DEFI LLC, which is connected to the former president, is set to receive three-quarters of the net protocol revenues.

WLF bills itself as a crypto bank where customers will be encouraged to borrow, lend and invest in digital coins. The document released Thursday defines net protocol revenue as income to WLF from “any source, including without limitation platform use fees, token sale proceeds, advertising or other sources of revenue, after deduction of agreed expenses and reserves for WLF’s continued operations.”
Some $30 million of the the initial revenue is earmarked to be held in a reserve intended to cover operating expenses and other financial obligations.
The remaining 25% of net protocol revenue is set to go to Axiom Management Group, or AMG, a Puerto Rico LLC wholly owned by Chase Herro and Zachary Folkman, two of the co-founders.
Folkman previously had a company called Date Hotter Girls and reportedly helped develop crypto project Dough Finance. Herro worked on Dough and launched another crypto trading business a decade ago called Pacer Capital, which appears to now be defunct.

AMG has agreed to allocate half of its rights to net protocol revenues to a third LLC called WC Digital Fi, which is an affiliate of Trump’s close friend and political donor, Steve Witkoff, as well as to “certain of his family members.” Witkoff’s son, Zachary, is also listed as one of the co-founders of the project.
Folkman previously said just 20% of WLF’s tokens would be allotted to the founding team, which includes the Trump family. The paper spells out the breakdown of anticipated coin allocation, with 35% of total supply allocated to the token sale, 32.5% to community growth and incentives, 30% to initial support allocation, and 2.5% to team and advisors.
The document specifies in the fine print that these “anticipated token distribution amounts are subject to change.” It’s unclear which categories include Trump and his family.
The paper calls Trump the “chief crypto advocate.” His three sons are all “Web3 ambassadors.”

Once available, Motorola phone users will be able to highlight, scribble, tap, or circle the element seen on the web to get additional information about it. There’s no information on when and which Motorola phones will get this feature

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) could go all the way with a proposed fine against ESPN.
The proposal calls for a penalty of $146,976 against ESPN for violating the Emergency Alert System (EAS) rules when the network aired ads to promote the 2023-2024 NBA season. The FCC said the tones were used “in the absence of an actual emergency.”

This is the third time the network misused an emergency tone on air. The FCC issued a $1.12 million fine as part of a forfeiture order in 2015 when ESPN used EAS tones a total of 13 times across three of its cable networks. ESPN violated EAS tone usage rules a second time during an airing of one of its 30 for 30 documentaries Roll Tide/War Eagle, leading to a $20,000 fine in 2021.
