If your social media feed is like mine, it’s been filled with people saying “No one told me that Masters of the Universe was this much fun!” Closely followed by “I tried to tell everyone not to let He-Man go the way of Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves!” The thing is, that the first attempt at a live-action He-Man in 40 years was never going to be a box office hit. It didn’t matter. It was destined to be a streaming hit on Amazon Prime, where it’s been at Number One since debuting, and that is what Amazon was planning on all along. Thankfully, to the streamer, it’s a success, and now we can brace for spinoffs and sequels.

Masters of the Universe bounced around Hollywood for decades before Amazon MGM scooped it up in 2023 and finally made it happen. When it made $113 million, far below expectations, Amazon’s Domestic Distribution Chief, Kevin Wilson said: “this opening is exactly the kind of critical first moment that validates our holistic distribution strategy—building awareness and engagement that will carry well beyond the theatrical window.” That’s what happened, and now, Amazon is having the last laugh. 

Masters Of The Universe Was Destined For Amazon Prime

Fans of the He-Man franchise were upset over the lack of promotion Amazon put behind the film this past Spring. There weren’t a lot of commercials, though the press tour was successful and endeared the cast to the fanbase (except for Jared Leto), but now we can see that Amazon was waiting for the streaming debut. Now there’s commercials everywhere celebrating the film’s launch on Amazon Prime Video. The theatrical release was a fun throwaway to the fans. Streaming was the goal. 

Nicholas Galitzine stepped into the fur-lined underwear of Adam Prince/He-Man, and after acknowledging the original, Dolph Lundgren, he made the role his own. Masters of the Universe is a campy, unserious sci-fi fantasy romp very similar to Honor Among Thieves, and Galitzine holds it all together with a charismatic performance that matches the wild tone. Camila Mendes (Veronica from Riverdale) turned Teela into her second breakout performance. The entire cast, including Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, and Alison Brie, understood the assignment.

Amazon’s Invested In The Future Of He-Man

Director Travis Knight has a talent with 80s properties. First he directed Bumblebee and salvaged Michael Bay’s Transformer universe, and now he cut the Gordian Knot that has been Masters of the Universe. After his stop-motion fantasy Wildwood comes out, it will be interesting to see if Amazon keeps him onboard for the inevitable sequel, and as teased in the film, the She-Ra spinoff. 

Netflix has been lambasted over not bringing their movies to movie theaters, but Amazon may have shown precisely why it can be a smart move. Kevin Wilson was right. The theatrical run gained the positive press they wanted to ensure a massive debut when it was available on streaming. Now there’s no sharing revenue with movie theaters, no arguing with foreign distributors, only subscribers to their own streaming service. If only Paramount would acknowledge the rabid fanbase for Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves the way Amazon has with Masters of the Universe, but if nothing else, at least one more trip to Eternia is coming. 

Claressa Shields didn’t only share boxing tips with Chrisean Rock during their recent link-up! The boxing champ appeared to advise Rock to steer clear of “you know who.” Internet users then connected the no-name shade to Chrisean’s ex, Blueface. Claressa Shields Gives Chrisean Rock Boxing Tips & Love Advice

Months after Claressa Shields offered to train Chrisean Rock in April, their link-up finally happened! Claressa posted photos and videos from their time on Saturday (July 25). In her caption, she said, “GWOAT x @CHRISEAN 😈 Strong women. Strong personalities. Stronger picture. 💪🏾 Can’t wait to train together sis 🥊 She coming to Atlanta Aug.15th for my fight, too.” The recap post showed the champ and amateur boxers posing together and speaking into a camera.

One clip from their time together, reposted by Live Bitez on Instagram, shows Claressa Shields talking to Chrisean Rock about who she needs to avoid. She refused to say the name, confusing Rock for a lil’ second, who repeatedly asked, “Who?” until Claressa dropped the hint, “color.” Once Rock realized who the advice was about, Shields seemed to explain that Rock is setting herself up to get dragged online, and clip-farmed. Also, the champ boxer appeared to explain that Rock should duck, hide and dip out whenever she runs into Blueface. She told Chrisean that she can control her own narrative and emphasized that Rock should maintain her distance and not be around people bringing her down. After a few more comments on the topic, they began speaking about Claressa’s weight and how she got to her current physique.

Lawrence Saint-Victor is celebrating a career-defining moment.

“The Bold and the Beautiful” star opened up exclusively to The Blast about becoming the first Black actor to earn Daytime Emmy nominations for both acting and writing in the same year. He also reflected on the emotional phone call that left him speechless, Carter Walton’s evolution over the years, and why he’s more grateful than ever for the life he has both on and off screen.

Lawrence Saint-Victor is celebrating a landmark year in his career after earning two 2026 Daytime Emmy nominations, one for his longtime performance as Carter Walton on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and another for his work as a writer on the hit CBS soap opera. 

To make the celebration even bigger, this achievement also makes him the first Black actor to receive Daytime Emmy nominations in both an acting and writing category in the same year.

“Brad Bell [executive producer and head writer for ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’] called me as I was dropping my son off at camp with my wife, and I was completely speechless. I knew that was the time when they would be announced, but I was busy doing dad stuff and didn’t have to focus on it or wait to hear,” Lawrence told The Blast exclusively. “And when my phone rang and I saw his name on my caller ID, I was like ‘This could be good news!’ And yeah, amazing news and I was completely speechless. I was trying to tell him how grateful I was, but the words weren’t really coming out.” 

Being the first Black actor to be nominated for both acting and writing in the same year made this milestone even more amazing for Lawrence. 

“I’m still digesting it,” he continued. “I think it just makes me think of all the people of color that opened the door for me to come through, so it’s just wonderful to be part of that legacy.” 

Lawrence Saint-Victor Has Portrayed The Same Character For More Than A Decade

Lawrence has portrayed Carter Walton on the popular soap for more than 13 years, watching the once stoic attorney evolve into one of the daytime drama’s most layered and emotionally complex characters. 

Portraying the same character for so long means watching and helping the character evolve over time.

“I think for a long time, Carter was this really good guy with a good moral compass, the guy you can kind of lean on,” he said. “There is a reason why he comes off so perfect. There is a reason why he presents himself as a superhero. I was gifted storylines that start to peel back that veil of this kind of broken, lonely man who puts on this air of excellence because it’s how he attracts people to him.”

He continued to share that Carter wants nothing more than to get married and have children, and the dynamic has made it “wonderful to peel back the layers” of the character. 

Portraying the same character for so long also gives Lawrence a unique perspective that many actors don’t usually get. 

“It makes me grateful because I have a lot of the things in my life that Carter yearns for and almost vice versa,” he said. “When I am playing Carter and linking into his loneliness, it makes me go, ‘Wow, I actually have the things that he desires.’ It’s very interesting so I would say I’m grateful when I look at my life.”

Stepping Into Writing In Addition To Acting

Lawrence has always had an interest in writing and used to write in college. It wasn’t until being on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and his relationship with Brad Bell over the years that he became interested in writing for the show. 

“We would talk storylines so much, and then one day, he [Bell] asked if I would be interested in writing, and I said yeah,” he told The Blast. “It’s one thing to just try to write your own projects, but it’s another thing when you step into a show where you are writing someone else’s vision. That was something that was very appealing to me, very terrifying as well. But I would say Brad Bell is the one who saw it in me before I saw it in myself.” 

Being an actor influenced the way he approached writing scenes and dialogue, giving him a unique vantage point that non-actors wouldn’t exactly have. 

“I think that’s what gave me my edge. Coming in, our writers are so great and they’ve been writing for so long, so when it comes to me jumping in as a writer, it’s like I can’t compete with them,” he shared. “I can’t hold that level of weight. But what I do have is I am on set. I get to hear how the dialogue sounds in our mouths. I get to hear how each actor might tweak the dialogue to make it feel more natural or more in line with how they play the character. So I have this insight.” 

Why Lawrence Saint-Victor Feels ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Continues To Resonate With Audiences After So Many Years

“The Bold and the Beautiful” has been on the air since early 1987. With many fans watching since the early years and continuing to today, it’s clear that the soap has a way of pulling fans in and keeping them interested. 

“I think soaps in general gives the audience the ability to feel as though they are growing up with the characters. It’s like going to church. It’s just like going to your favorite restaurant. It’s there. You know what to expect and there might be some twists and surprises, but there is something very familiar about coming home,” he told The Blast. “What I think ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ does exceptional is we don’t take place in a fictional town, in a fictional state, in a fictional city; we take place in Los Angeles, and so much of our show is based on Los Angeles.”

He added that the show has also brought viewers to other places such as Monaco, Monte Carlo, and Australia, and gives the insight of the “crazy lives of the rich and famous.” 

Advice For Actors Starting Out And What Lawrence Saint-Victor Would Love To Do In The Future

When asked what advice he would give a new actor just starting out, Lawrence said, “learn your craft.” 

“Learn how to act. There’s a million ways to do it. You can go to a traditional school or you can get a coach or go to a studio for improv, whatever it is, learn your craft so you can own it,” he said. “Once you have ownership of it, it’s yours, so you can do whatever you want with it.”

He added to “never give up,” explaining that the “common denominator between so many successful people is that they just stayed in the race because you never know when your ticket’s gonna be called.” 

As far as things he hasn’t done yet in his career that he hopes to one day, Lawrence would love to “play a superhero,” so you never know where you’ll see him next.

As a lifelong fan of Star Trek, I have plenty of hot takes about my favorite franchise. The hottest take, perhaps, is that Deep Space Nine is the absolute best show, hands-down. It had an admittedly rocky start, but after that, this spinoff consistently fired on all cylinders. It pushed the boundaries of Trek in almost every direction while exemplifying the spirit of this iconic sci-fi creation. Back in 1979, Star Trek: The Motion Picture’s marketing promised us that “the human adventure is just beginning.” In many ways, DS9 felt like the end of that adventure because it explored every facet of human nature in new and exciting ways.

Like I said, calling Deep Space Nine the best Star Trek series is a hot take, one that often has fans wanting to take out their phasers. And trust me, those bad boys are not set to stun! Because of this, I’m always happy when the actors involved with this show explain exactly what makes it so great. That’s exactly what Kira actor Nana Visitor did. When discussing “Necessary Evil,” one of the show’s best episodes, she pointed out that Deep Space Nine doesn’t spoon-feed its audiences neat, happy conclusions. Instead, the show embraces messy characters and messier relationships while crediting the audience for wanting more than another fake, happy ending.

A Major Kira Episode

“Necessary Evil” ended up being a very important episode for Nana Visitor’s character. It begins with Odo investigating a mysterious list of Bajoran names that was stolen by a violent criminal. Interspersed throughout the story are flashbacks to one of Odo’s earlier investigations, back when Cardassia owned the station. He is trying to learn who killed a Bajoran man, and the deceased’s wife thinks Kira did it. Odo initially clears Kira and, in the present day, discovers that the list contained names of Bajorans who collaborated with the Cardassians. Furthermore, he learns that she has been using that list to blackmail former collaborators into giving her money.

Case solved, right? At least, in the present day. But Odo’s current investigation also helps him belatedly discover that Kira really did kill that Bajoran man years ago; it was self-defense, but she was trying to get the same list of names. She had hidden the truth from Odo out of an attempt to protect their friendship, and when she asks if he will ever be able to trust her again, he doesn’t have an answer. It’s a very real, very brutal moment between two beloved characters. And according to Kira actor Nana Visitor, it’s a moment that helped exemplify why Deep Space Nine is such an amazing show.

A Friendship Ruined?

Looking back on “Necessary Evil,” Visitor said (as recorded in Captains’ Logs Supplemental–The Unauthorized Guide to the New Trek Voyages), “What I loved about that show is that it was left ambiguous between [Kira and Odo]. Odo doesn’t trust me the way he did and he never will, and that’s so truthful to me.” Finishing her thoughts, she summed up exactly why Deep Space Nine is the best Star Trek show. “That’s real life, and that’s one of the things this show does very well. It doesn’t tie things up in nice, neat little bows for the audience. It gives them more credit than that.” 

She’s right, of course: DS9 distinguished itself from most shows in that regard, including other Star Trek series. If something like this had happened in The Next Generation or Voyager, the two characters would have mended things with a quiet, gentle conversation. If it had happened on Discovery or Strange New Worlds, they would have mended things with a conversation featuring loud crying and lame jokes. Only Deep Space Nine, however, would let both the characters and the audience sit in ambiguous dread, wondering if an important relationship has been completely ruined.

The sad resolution of “Necessary Evil” makes it that much sweeter when Odo and Kira not only restore their friendship but become the cutest couple on the show. Like Visitor said, though, that’s real life. No relationship exists in a vacuum; instead, it’s built on a shared past that includes rocky memories, and overcoming those obstacles makes the two of you even stronger. Sure, Deep Space Nine may be a show featuring exotic aliens and mind-bending cosmic phenomena, but it’s the best Star Trek show in part because of how well it understands the most grounded, human thing of them all: true love, baby!  

Food Network personality Katie Lee Biegel is opening up about her experience using a GLP-1 medication to help her slim down.

“It has been an incredibly positive experience,” Lee Biegel, 44, said on the Thursday, July 23, episode of her “All on the Table” podcast, noting she began taking the controversial weight loss drug in February. “That is such a personal decision of what feels best to you for your best weight.”

The Kitchen star said that she wanted to drop “10 to 12 extra pounds” of her postpartum weight, but had a difficult time meeting her goal without the extra boost. (Katie and her husband, Ryan Biegel, welcomed daughter Iris in 2020.)

“I had about 10 to 12 extra pounds that I had carried around for the last 5 and a half years since I had Iris, and I could not get rid of them,” Katie explained, referring to her daughter. “I was exercising five times a week, eating healthy [and the weight was] just not coming off, and I didn’t feel like myself. I didn’t feel good.”

She continued, “As we get older, especially for women with menopause, your metabolism changes, also the way that your body processes sugar changes. There are so many additional benefits to these drugs besides just losing weight, [including] reducing inflammation, reducing your risk of heart disease that I talked about it with my doctor and it felt right for me.”

GLP-1s, including Wegovy and Mounjaro, are typically prescribed for adults who struggle with weight-related conditions. Doctors often warn individuals against using semaglutides for casual weight loss.

After a discussion with her physician, Katie began using a GLP-1 at “a micro, micro dose.”

“I went up and then I went down to a micro micro dose. I am not looking to lose any more weight,” she stated of her progress. “I lost what I wanted to lose, and I feel like a new freaking person. It has been so good for me both physically and mentally because I don’t have to think about [my size] any more when I put on my pants.”

“The body positivity movement has been wonderful on so many levels, but then it’s also made it so that if you say that you want to lose weight, then that’s a bad thing,” Katie acknowledged. “I think it’s OK as long as you’re healthy [and] as long as you’re looking to do things in a healthy way, and that’s what I did and it was right for me. It doesn’t mean it’s right for you or right for your neighbor, but you do you. I have really really loved it, so I think if you’re thinking about it, talk to your doctor. It is also not something to be ashamed about.”

Jim Carrey is honoring director Chuck Russell after his unexpected death at age 74. Russell directed Carrey in the 1994 blockbuster “The Mask,” a career-defining comedy that helped transform the actor into a household name. In an emotional tribute, Carrey described the movie as one of the “jewels” of his creative life and credited Russell with building a set filled with wonder, playfulness, and camaraderie.

Carrey reflected on his experience working with Russell in a statement shared Friday. “I consider it a privilege to have worked with Chuck Russell, who, during the shooting of The Mask, created an ebullient, childlike atmosphere of wonder and camaraderie on his set,” the 64-year-old actor told TMZ.

Carrey said Russell’s sense of “playfulness” inspired everyone involved in the production, from the performers to the crew behind the camera. “Every one of us has been many years blessed by that buoyant and timeless moment,” Carrey continued. “I consider ‘The Mask’ one of the jewels of my creative life. Chuck Russell ‘Died Unexpectedly’ At His Home

Russell reportedly “died unexpectedly at his San Diego-area home” on Wednesday. The local fire department was called to the residence that afternoon following a report of a medical emergency involving an unconscious man. Russell’s cause of death remains unknown.

The filmmaker is survived by his wife of 19 years, Ania, and his three children, Logan, Riley, and Carlyn. No further information about the circumstances surrounding his death was immediately available.

Fans also mourned Russell’s death by celebrating the movies that made him an influential figure in horror, comedy, and action. “Dam RIP to him, created one amazing funny movie with ‘The Mask,’” one person wrote.

Another fan highlighted the filmmaker’s work across several genres, paying tribute to three of his best-known projects. “RIP to the great Chuck Russell. ‘Elm St 3’ is easily the best sequel in the franchise! ‘The Mask’ was a genius tribute to Tex Avery, making Jim Carrey a star!! The Director Made His Debut With A Horror Classic

Filmmaker Chuck Russell has passed away at 74.

Russell launched his directing career with 1987’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.” The successful horror sequel also helped introduce Patricia Arquette to movie audiences. Its strong reception established Russell as a filmmaker with a particular talent for combining imaginative visuals, genre thrills, and memorable characters. He followed the movie with the 1988 remake of “The Blob,” another horror project that became an enduring part of his filmography.

Although those early successes made Russell closely associated with the genre, he later revealed that he intentionally stepped away from horror because he did not want his career limited to one category. The filmmaker expanded into comedy with “The Mask” before directing Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1996 action film “Eraser.”

He later worked with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on 2002’s “The Scorpion King.” Both films became box-office successes and demonstrated Russell’s ability to move between horror, comedy, fantasy, and action.

Chuck Russell Returned To Filmmaking After A Hiatus

Russell stepped away from directing for an extended period after “The Scorpion King.” He returned in 2016 with “I Am Wrath,” a vigilante action thriller starring John Travolta. The film was poorly received by critics and struggled commercially.

Russell then directed the 2019 Bollywood action-adventure movie “Junglee.” He reunited with Travolta for 2022’s “Paradise City,” which also starred Bruce Willis. The movie similarly failed to connect with critics or audiences.

Russell’s final directorial project was the 2024 supernatural thriller “Witchboard,” which he also co-wrote. The movie remade the 1986 film of the same name. Although it did not become a major box-office success, it received a warmer critical response than some of Russell’s previous projects, with reviewers praising its throwback approach to the horror cinema of the 1980s and 1990s.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner once believed that fatherhood was not part of his future. That changed after he met his wife, Tenisha Warner. During her first public appearance since the “Cosby Show” star’s sudden death, Tenisha revealed that Warner ultimately asked to start a family because he trusted her to raise his child, even if their romantic relationship did not survive. The deeply personal revelation comes as Tenisha fights to secure approximately $1.27 million that she claims her late husband intended to provide for her and their 9-year-old daughter, MacKenzie.

Tenisha discussed her husband’s decision to embrace fatherhood during an appearance Thursday on “CBS Mornings” with Gayle King. “He said to me that he knew that, even if things didn’t work out [for us romantically], that I would be the woman he would want raising his child,” she recalled. “And so for him, it was like, even if this doesn’t work out, like I know you would be such a wonderful mother.”

Tenisha explained that she initially questioned whether Warner could be the right partner for her because they did not share the same feelings about children. “I thought, if he never wants children, this is not my person,” she told King. “But, you know, everybody I’ve been with up until then wasn’t my person, and that was okay, and so I was open to whatever that might turn into.”

The Actor Unexpectedly Asked To Start A Family

Tenisha said she did not pressure Warner to reconsider his position on becoming a parent. After their initial conversation, they seemingly allowed the subject to rest. “We had never talked about a child again,” she recalled. “And then six months later, he came to me and said, ‘Do you want to start a family?’”

The couple welcomed MacKenzie and later married in 2017. They were together for approximately a decade before Warner’s death. The actor, best known for playing Theo Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” died at age 54 in July 2025 after drowning in a riptide during a family vacation in Costa Rica.

Tenisha’s conversation with King marked the first time she had made a public appearance since the tragedy.

Tenisha Warner Is Fighting For Approximately $1.27 Million

Alongside mourning her husband, Tenisha has become involved in a legal dispute with Warner’s mother, Pamela Warner. Tenisha filed a lawsuit in Georgia’s DeKalb County Superior Court seeking approximately $1.27 million from a family trust controlled by her mother-in-law.

She made the filings on the first anniversary of Warner’s death. “For the last year, I have attempted to privately settle my beloved husband’s complicated estate and honor his last wishes,” Tenisha said in a statement. “Malcolm had every intention to provide for our nine-year-old daughter and me.”

According to Tenisha, Warner was in the process of updating an estate plan that significantly predated both their relationship and their daughter’s birth. “He was close to finalizing a new estate plan to replace the stale plan created in 1996 when he was 26 years old, 20 years before we met and well before we gave birth to our beautiful daughter,” she explained. “Sadly, he was unable to do so before we lost him.”

The Widow Says She Had ‘No Choice’ But To File Suit

Tenisha said the lack of an updated estate plan left her struggling financially as MacKenzie’s sole provider. She claimed she has “been struggling to care for [her and Warner’s] daughter as a single mom and now as her sole provider.” Tenisha said she legally “had no choice but to take action to protect our rights before any potential statute of limitations expired.”

According to the filing, Tenisha and Warner allegedly reached an agreement on May 15, 2022, that would have made her the sole beneficiary of a $1 million life insurance policy. However, the paperwork was never finalized before Warner died. Tenisha alleges that her husband did not purchase or maintain the policy.

Her lawsuit also seeks several other payments she claims Warner agreed to make during their marriage. Those allegedly include annual tax-free payments of $16,000 on each wedding anniversary, which she says now exceed $50,000.

Tenisha also claims Warner agreed to deposit $30,500 into a Roth IRA in her name and pay her $5,000 per month for serving as his chief of staff and assistant. According to the complaint, the alleged unpaid obligations amount to approximately $195,000 in addition to the requested life insurance funds.

The Lawsuit Seeks To Freeze Trust Assets

Tenisha said she does not believe Warner’s estate was adequately funded and is therefore seeking payment from the family trust managed by Pamela. “Plaintiff performed all obligations required of her under the Agreement, including entering into and remaining in the marriage until the Decedent’s death,” the filing states.

“The Decedent died without having satisfied his obligations under the Agreement, and no person or entity has paid or provided the sums due to Plaintiff,” it continues. Tenisha has also asked the court to prevent the trust’s money from being distributed until the dispute is resolved.

Pamela has not publicly responded to the allegations. The claims made by Tenisha have not yet been proven in court.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is now on the fourth year of its five-year mission. While the end of the voyage is now in sight, there’s still lots more to be explored. We got evidence of that at the Star Trek panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con this afternoon, as Strange New Worlds‘ creators unveiled a new teaser trailer for the rest of the season. Collider’s Samantha Coley was on the scene to report the latest intel.

In attendance for Strange New Worlds were Anson Mount (Captain Christopher Pike), Rebecca Romijn (Una Chin-Riley), Ethan Peck (Spock), Christina Chong (La’An Noonien-Singh), Celia Rose Gooding (Nyota Uhura), Melissa Navia (Erica Ortegas), and Paul Wesley (James Kirk), plus co-showrunners and executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers and executive producer Alex Kurtzman. The panel was part of a larger celebration of the franchise’s 60th anniversary.

The new trailer showcases the strange new worlds and new civilizations the crew will encounter over the course of the season’s remaining nine episodes. That includes marauding Orion pirates, space dragons, and a squad of seemingly hostile Andorians. Things are definitely getting strange, as one sequence sees Uhura seemingly split into two individuals: one with her current haircut, and another with a distinctly Nichelle Nichols-like coif. There might be some changing of the guard, as well: not only do we see former Enterprise captain Robert April (Adrian Holmes) in the captain’s chair, but the trailer ends with Scotty (Martin Quinn) addressing Kirk (who will command the Enterprise, but not yet) as “captain.” What’s going on? You’ll have to tune in to Paramount+ this summer to find out.

What’s Happened on Season 4 of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ So Far?

The fourth season kicked off with a voyage to a strange old world: a spatial anomaly hurled the USS Enterprise 65 million years into the past, and put them in orbit around prehistoric Earth. There, they find themselves caught between an ancient Martian civilization, represented by Commander Cassell (Saffron Burrows), and a race of hostile arachnid aliens living on the Solar System’s rocky fifth planet. Captain Pike and his crew found themselves trapped in an ethical dilemma that could have Earth-shattering implications for the future of humanity.
