Wondering what people are using these setups for. Perhaps YouTube creators need to store footage.

I look forward to those future series. Specially for the board and blade.

Would love to have a series on remote access. Comparing the various reverse proxy methods vs cloudflare tunneling vs tailscale for Jellyfin use.

more zima blade torture? people should just go buy a refurb really – more value, ease of use, upgrade path etc

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

I consider myself "blessed" to have a rack full of older xeon servers from Dell. One of them even has 385gb ram I say "blessed" because I am also "blessed" with a power bill that makes me shut them down just minutes after completing my task.
I wish I was "blessed" with a handful of these zima boards as well!
150-250 watts for a single server is UGLY, especially when a friend asks me to give him access remotely so he can run a homelab on my gear.

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

Have you ever made a video that includd the bloopers? no editing? That would be cool.

  8. @iron-man1

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

It would be great if you create a video on grafana weather dashboard with public API i really wanted to monitor weather, cyclone etc, i mean why dont tech youtubers didn't do practical things

  9. @ronm6585

    Thank you.

Puleese do not buy obsolete tech because repair/upgrade requires buying out-of-production, landfill ready parts. 8GB DDR3 modules are twice the price of DDR4 on Newegg, just checked. I just built a GMKtec G3, Intel N100, for ~$180 and new parts. Also just found a Cybergeek Nano J1, Celeron N5095A, for $95 complete. If you need a system with PCIe v3 expansion slot there are plent

  11. @peterrogers153

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

While i like this board, please stop the false advertising saying that the J3455 version is $65, its a $95 board. Big difference. I would love for someone to do a test of the $65 dual core version. but sadly it seems that all youtubers are pushing the same lie.

  12. @ewenchan1239

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

The problem with this kind of video is that it only looks at cost and power, but doesn't factor in performance in the $/perf/W metric.

  13. @michaelwong4530

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

Why not run the open media vault directly instead of a virtual setup?

  14. @starbuck1002

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

We need a ultimate Budget AI Server (for instance, if we want to infer LLMs).

  15. @foryoutubeyoutube1843

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

Can you make a video on Tailscale?

  16. @jothain

    October 17, 2024 at 5:54 pm

So where is the good budget? ZimaBlade? C'mon… These commercials are getting old.

I got intel nuc used with j3455/8gb ram/120 ssd/wifibt for 50euro, put 2tb hdd in it and usb ssd, it is fine silent, very small, runs omv fine for jellyfin, sonarr, radarr and backups every service is installed to ssd, and media is stored in hdd. This low end cpu works surpsingly well i run like 15-20containers plan to add even more services to it 🙂 buying it new is kinda bad i think, but if u get it used for like 40-50 its fine. If you need raid5 setup just get old office sff pc with i3 7100/t and it will have space for 3 hdd + nvme that way it size is little bigger but you get redudancy and setup will be much cleaner than in this video, it will be very fast services and os on nvme and media on hdd raid. For small size intel nucs or 1, liter lenovo tiny/dell micro also awesome..🎉

I work around with “arm v8”
Or something like that I can’t install any because of it as there is no version of it

I Made The World's Smallest Server Rack - With UPS and SSD Storage

Having your own home server rack or homelab is really useful, but you have to have a relatively large space to set it up, it generates a lot of heat and can be pretty noisy. So that’s why I built this, the world’s smallest server rack that fits right in on my desk alongside a drink or cup of coffee. In this video, I’ll show you how I made it.
