North East driver arrested by police two days in a row
Operation Limit is a national campaign in the run-up to Christmas and through to the new year period, targeting those who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
On Wednesday, 10 and Thursday, 11 December, police say the same man, a 42-year-old, was stopped on both mornings in the Hartlepool area and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving on both occasions.
A total of 98 arrests have now been made since December 1 in the Cleveland Police area as part of the campaign, which continues into the New Year.
Thirty-six of these were alcohol related, 56 were drug-related, and six people failed to provide a specimen for analysis.
A 42-year-old woman was also stopped on the morning of Thursday, December 11, as part of proactive checks on Ormesby Road.
She was arrested and taken to police custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.
Fifty drivers stopped on Friday, December 12, at Haverton Hill in Stockton, all passed breath tests without issue.
