Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has verbally agreed to join Real Madrid in a move that would see him reunite with close friend Jude Bellingham, according to reports in Spain.

The 26-year-old England international’s move to the Bernabeu is a done deal, according to Marca, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side now deciding whether to pursue a January transfer or wait until summer.

The Spanish giants had previously seen a £20million bid rejected earlier in the transfer window for the full-back, whose current Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season.

Alexander-Arnold is one of three key Liverpool players, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, whose contracts expire at the end of the season.

The Merseyside club remains in negotiations with all three stars, though no breakthrough has been made.

As their contracts enter their final six months, the players are now permitted to speak with overseas clubs about potential free transfers in the summer.

Real Madrid could secure Alexander-Arnold without a fee should they wait until the summer window.

Alexander-Arnold had previously addressed speculation about his future in September, stating: “I want to be a Liverpool player this season (as a minimum) is what I will say.”

The defender added: “Look, I have been at the club 20 years now, I have signed four or five contract extensions, none of those have been played out in public, and this one wont be either.”

Real Madrid are also reportedly pursuing Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, whose contract similarly expires in the summer.

The report claims talks over Davies’ contract extension at Bayern have stalled, with Madrid confident of securing the Canadian left-back on a free transfer.

The strategy would follow Madrid’s recent transfer policy, having previously signed David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Kylian Mbappe at the end of their contracts.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Davies has made 218 appearances for Bayern since joining in 2018, winning multiple titles including the Champions League.

Alexander-Arnold was most recently in action on Tuesday, playing the full 90 minutes in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
