‘Special feeling’ for Philippe Clement as Rangers return to Ibrox
Part of the renovated Copland Stand will remain closed on Saturday evening as Rangers continue their defence of the trophy.
Clement remains without Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo and Danilo against Dundee, with Rangers also visiting Malmo in their Europa League opener on Thursday.
“I want to win everything,” added the Belgian. “That’s the goal of everything I do in life.
“I want to see that with my team as well. It’s another competition where you go full to have the victory.
“You cannot put priorities here. You cannot throw away any competition. All the competitions are important.
“I believe a lot in the potential of this squad.”

Merab Dvalishvili responds to ‘son’ Sean O’Malley claiming he’s still UFC champion with funny skit
Merab Dvalishvili isn’t having any of Sean O’Malley’s nonsense.
This past weekend, Dvalishvili won the bantamweight title, taking a unanimous decision victory over O’Malley in the main event of UFC 306. Though in the immediate aftermath O’Malley offered “no excuses,” on Thursday “Suga” changed his tune, disputing the judging in the fight, claiming to still be the 135-pound champion, and saying he will defend the title against Umar Nurmagomedov next summer. But the true champion isn’t having it.
Taking to Instagram with a response to O’Malley, Dvalishvili trolled the former champion with a video showing him acting as a disapproving father towards O’Malley.
“What the f*ck, bro?! What’s going on? Sean, is that you my friend? What’s wrong with you, bro? Why do you keep smoking, my friend? I thought you were just sleeping now. It’s sleep time for you, bro. Come on, bro.
“Listen son, don’t worry about this Umar Nurmagomedov. I will take care of Umar. You’re not a champion anymore. I’m going to take belt from you again, so you drive safe, son. Let’s go Sean. No more smoking. Drive safe.”
Merab also kisses the doll version of O’Malley several times on the head, a callback to the curious exchange that occurred during their fight.
Regardless of O’Malley’s claims, Dvalishvili remains the undisputed UFC bantamweight champion and appears poised to defend his title against either Umar Nurmagomedov or possible Deiveson Figueiredo sometime next year. Meanwhile, O’Malley is headed for surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip and will be out of action for at least six months.

VAR ‘should have intervened on Rooney incident’
The Scottish FA’s new Key Match Incident Review Panel has determined that the decision not to red card St Mirren’s Shaun Rooney for this incident on Saturday was incorrect.
The five-person panel – three of whom are coaches, former players or from the media, with one Scottish FA and one SPFL club representative – decreed that not showing a red card for violent conduct was a mistake, as was VAR Andrew Dallas’ decision not to intervene.
Rooney was not booked for twice kicking Kilmarnock’s Kyle Vassell and, in fact, was awarded a free-kick by referee Matthew MacDermid.

Joshua vs Dubois: BBC Radio 5 Live to broadcast heavyweight fight
Anthony Joshua’s world title fight against fellow Briton Daniel Dubois on Saturday in London will be broadcast live from 19:30 BST on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds.
Dubois places his IBF title on the line against Joshua, who is bidding to become a three-time heavyweight world champion.
The pair will meet in front of an expected post-war British record boxing crowd of 96,000 at Wembley Stadium.
Video highlights will be available to watch on the BBC Sport website and app on Sunday.

Joshua vs. Dubois weigh-in results: Anthony Joshua owns slight size advantage ahead of heavyweight title clash
Anthony Joshua has his chance to become world champion again.
The British star challenges Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title on Saturday at Wembley Stadium in London, and both fighters successfully made weight at Friday’s official weigh-ins. Joshua weighed in at 252.7 pounds, just a few pounds heavier than Dubois.
Joshua (28-3) enters Saturday’s contest on a four-fight win streak. He has bounced back impressively following a pair of title fight losses to Oleksandr Usyk and now has his chance to regain the IBF title that he dropped to Usyk in 2021.
In his most recent outing this past March, Joshua defeated former UFC champion and current PFL fighter Francis Ngannou via highlight-reel knockout.
“I look at myself as a gladiator and I’m about to step into an arena tomorrow to perform for the people who love to see blood, guts, and glory,” Joshua said in his post-weigh-in interview. “I’m pumped and I’m ready to perform for the people.”
Dubois (21-2) scored an eighth-round TKO victory over the previously undefeated Filip Hrgovic this past June to capture an interim IBF heavyweight championship. That same month, Dubois was elevated to undisputed status when Usyk vacated his share of the title.

Phoebe Schecter NFL column: Bryce Young – can the 2023 number one pick recover from benching?
We’re just two weeks into the new NFL season and one quarterback has already been benched. Just over a year after being selected with the first pick of the 2023 draft, Bryce Young has been replaced as the Carolina Panthers’ starter by veteran Andy Dalton.
As Tom Brady has said,, external it’s a “tragedy” really, how rookie quarterbacks are handled, that so often they’re forced to play right at the start of their NFL career and don’t get time to learn and develop.
Being the NFL’s number one draft pick comes with a lot of pressure. You become the face of that franchise, that city, and there’s really no escaping it.
There’s a lot of weight put on your shoulders, and it’s not just the media or the football. There are many other new demands on you, there’s so much more than what you see on the field. But these guys are only 22, 23, and they’re only human.
In last year’s draft the Panthers went for Young rather than CJ Stroud, but then-head coach Frank Reich and team owner David Tepper were not on the same page. Tepper wanted Young and if you’re bringing somebody in that the head coach does not approve of – especially a quarterback who’s gone first overall – that was immediately a big red flag.
Both parties need to be aligned in on who you’re bringing in, who you’re planning to make your franchise quarterback, and that’s where it all started going wrong for Young.
His rookie year was a struggle. The Panthers’ wide receivers failed to get open and their offensive line was incredibly inconsistent. Across the season, 11 players started across the five offensive line positions.
For any rookie, as we’re seeing with this year’s first pick Caleb Williams at Chicago, you need to have a solid offensive line to protect the quarterback.
You can’t have your guy getting sacked at the rate Young was (68 sacks in 18 games). Houston took CJ Stroud with last year’s second pick and he was the offensive rookie of the year, but if he’d been drafted by Panthers he would have struggled as well.
There’s also been no continuity for Young with the head coach. Reich was fired after 11 games so he’s already on his third head coach – with Chris Tabor (interim) and now Dave Canales.
Coach Canales is supposed to be a kind of quarterback whisperer having helped Baker Mayfield get back to his best while Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator last season.
Previously he worked with Russell Wilson so he has an understanding of that smaller kind of quarterback, which is something that continues to come up with Young, who’s 5ft 10in. People are concerned he can’t necessarily see over the offensive linemen, some of those guys are 6ft 7in, 6ft 8in.
On top of that, he’s not really seeing the field anymore. He’s made inaccurate throws and had poor footwork.
Remember when Simone Biles had the Twisties? In golf they call it the yips. This is the football equivalent of that. You don’t see the field, you’re not able to identify where the defensive blitz is coming from.
