The Indiana Fever extended their winning streak to four games after securing a narrow 95-91 overtime win over the Atlanta Dream on Sunday. Caitlin Clark finished with 26 points, nine assists, and three rebounds. Meanwhile, Kelsey Mitchell and Makayla Timpson carried the scoring load in the extra period.
Following the game, the WNBA’s official X account posted a photo recap highlighting the big-time performances of the game, writing:
“An overtime win meant tons of highlights and Allisha Gray, Kelsey Mitchell and Angel Reese excelled.”
Reese, who faced criticism after missing the potential game-winning layup, was featured prominently in the post. However, Clark’s name was noticeably absent from both the text and the image the league shared. Naturally, her fans took serious issue with the choice, calling out the shocking snub of their favorite superstar.
One user wrote, “Your anti caitlin clark agenda is so obvious to everyone it’s embarrassing.”
Another user added, “And Clark also played. 26 pts, 9 asts, and 3 rebounds. But who’s counting right?”
A third user asked, “HUH??? Who led the victorious Fever in points and assists…?? CAITLIN CLARK!! She the straw that stirs the WNBA drink. Y’all are soooo JEALOUS of her!!!”
The fourth user called the omission a “Joke of a league.”
An X user penned, “What about Clark? Man you guys insist on screwing your league by not promoting Clark.”
Caitlin Clark reflects on Fever’s playoff-like test
Following the hard-fought victory, Caitlin Clark addressed the physical, back-and-forth nature of Sunday’s matchup and credited coach Stephanie White’s locker-room message.
The three-time All-Star revealed that White told the squad the game “felt like a playoff game.” So, they entered State Farm Arena with a mindset to fight until the very last second.
Just like in their last game against the Dallas Wings, where Indiana’s defense stopped Paige Bueckers at a crucial time, it did the job once again on Sunday. Down 72-64 going into the fourth quarter against the Dream, they held Atlanta to just nine points to force overtime.
“Coming into each night, we know how important that win is to hopefully get home-court advantage in the playoffs,” Clark said. “Just proud of our group. Super resilient. … Obviously, this was a big one.”
The narrow win improved Indiana’s record to 23-12, while Atlanta dropped to 21-13. Next, Indiana will look to extend its four-game winning streak against the Toronto Tempo on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. It remains to be seen if Caitlin Clark can secure the double-double she missed by just a single assist in this game.
